Yesterday, we told you all about shag bark hickory trees. By the way, the squirrels were on to us and no critters came around for us to chase. But, we’ll get them next time! Anyway, we did come across some other interesting finds and thought we’d share them on our blog.

We, Frenchies, were so happy to finally have a day where it wasn’t all cloudy and rainy and we were greatly relieved to be outdoors looking for adventure. However, with all the rain, it seems that Sharkey has been putting her time to good use by reading up on hickory trees.

Despite the continued rain, signs of autumn are beginning to show. Fall mushrooms are sprouting all around and the leaves are beginning to fall from the trees. Now, if it would just stop raining. Enough’s enough!

Ryan told us Frenchies the other day that he was taking a trip to Hardscrabble Farms, which isn’t too far from our farm. Seeing that it wasn’t such great weather, we asked him if we might tag along. We love looking at trees, shrubs, and all kinds of plants.

Friday, September 23rd, is the first day of autumn in our part of the world. It’s quite obvious because the sun is setting earlier and we, Frenchies, can feel a nip in the air. Another tell-tale sign is what’s blooming in the garden.

On Wednesday’s blog, we told you about the South and North Ferries at the far eastern end of Long Island, which is a wonderful way to travel back and forth between the South and North Forks.
