Maine in autumn

Posted by Sharkey

Silly me!  I just found these photos taken in early October, during the last time we went to Maine with Martha and her guests.  I must have misplaced the memory card.  We Frenchies take so many photos for our blog and I guess, once in a while, things can slip through a crack.  ‘Tsk-tsk,’ as Martha would say, but I say, better late than never.

1 Oh goody! The sun came out. The beach is always nicer when the sun is shining.

2 There's always a ton of seaweed on the beaches in Maine and Francesca loves sniffing it. It's very salty and kind of fishy smelling.

3 As you can see, the sea mist rolled in. Franny's still busy sniffing and Martha is all bundled up. It can quickly get very cold and damp on these shores.

4 Wow! Is that a dinosaur egg? Oh, I see - it's a rather large stone. They get so smooth tumbling in the rocky surf.

5 Time to leave the beach and explore the higher ground.

6 Here we are at a higher elevation. Those red scrubby bushes are wild Maine blueberry with their autumn foiliage. They seem to grow everywhere - even on these granite rocks!

7 Here I am with Kevin Sharkey. I think it's funny that we have the same name. Such a coincidence!

A trip to Mariani Gardens

Posted by Francesca

On Martha’s blog today, she is giving her blog readers a tour of a great nursery called Mariani Gardens,  located in Armonk, New York. When she visits there, we often accompany her. We love it because it’s so colorful and there’s so much great stuff to see.

1 Sharkey, I hope they snap the picture soon because I want to explore Mariani Gardens!

2 This is some stone dog bowl!

3 Franny, don't you think these bromeliad flowers look great with my coloration?

4 What's that expression? Let sleeping lions lie?

5 Good thing this lion is asleep. He looks ferocious.

6 Wow - a dog topiary. This is so cool. Maybe we should start trimming some of Martha's boxwood to look like Frenchies.

7 We should carve a statue of our goddess - Martha.

8 Excuse me - we'll take this Japanese maple to plant in Martha's new maple grove.
