Transplanting in the Headhouse

Transplanting in the Headhouse

After we toured the seedlings growing in the greenhouse, we found Ryan busy at work in the headhouse.  Ryan was carefully separating tiny seedlings and replanting them in individual plugs.  It was quite fascinating to watch.

We dogs were out for a walk when Franny ran ahead and dashed into the greenhouse.  GK and I caught up to her and found that she was quite engrossed, staring at the growing tables.

Walking around the farm the other day, we spotted a new addition to the grounds.  Because we Frenchies have insatiable curiosities, we just had to go and investigate.

Antsy For Spring!

Antsy For Spring!

Who’s getting tired of winter?  We Frenchies say, “Enough is enough!”  One good thing we’ve noticed is that the days are getting longer, which sometimes casts a spring-like glow.  We know it’s just a matter of time, but we’re getting antsy for spring!

During the winter, it’s so nice to be able to spend time in the warm and toasty greenhouse and enjoy all of the splendors growing there.  The other day, we Frenchies, spent some time communing with Martha’s beautiful begonia collection.

We Frenchies were playing outside the other day and we got kind of cold so we decided to visit Ryan and Wilmer in the greenhouse.  As usual those guys were very busy working magic with plants.  We always learn so much from them.

As you know, Francesca has been confined to the house and to a crate.  Recently, we got the go-ahead for her to resume her normal activities, erring on the side of caution.  I thought that a farm tour would be a good idea, so I fired up the Kawasaki and took Franny for a ride!

We were making the rounds with Ryan, the gardener, the other day.  He took us into the hoophouse where he keeps Martha’s potted citrus trees for the winter.  I happened to notice that the clivia plants were blooming.  Clivia are such happy looking flowers!

I, Ghenghis Khan, was asked to make a delivery the other day to the tropical greenhouse.  I hadn’t been inside for quite some time, so I decided to have a look around.  Because this structure is for tropical plants, the temperature and humidity levels are quite toasty and it feels like a jungle.

Picking Vegetables With Ryan

Picking Vegetables With Ryan

We Frenchies heard that Martha needed some fresh vegetables to make her special green juice that she drinks most mornings.  We’re very fortunate here at the farm because there’s a vegetable greenhouse for growing crops all through the cold months.
