On yesterday’s blog, we showed you one of the mighty trees that fell at the farm during Hurricane Sandy. As we continued our drive, we came upon so much more damage. One area really took a beating and after seeing it, we decided to stop looking. It’s heartbreaking to see so much destruction.

If you are a reader of The Martha Blog, you probably know that more than 100 stately trees were blown over at the farm when Hurricane Sandy visited our area. We Frenchies wanted to see some of this damage for ourselves, so we ventured out into the woods to have a look.

It’s no secret that we Frenchies love to chase squirrels. This autumn, there are so many of those critters all over the farm – a real population explosion. We like to feet our feathered friends and those squirrels really take advantage of the situation.

If you’re a fan of Japanese Maple trees, then you most likely know that crisp autumn is when those beautiful trees put on an amazing display. Our grove of trees, planted a few years ago, is growing very nicely.

Martha had a dinner party last night and there was a lot to do in preparation. Chef Pierre came to cook the food and Laura Acuna set a beautiful table. Of course, some of the silver needed polishing and we Frenchies always like to help with that chore.

We Frenchies have many friends at the farm, including a large number of crows. These big black birds gather in communal groups, called roosts, in the autumn and winter and they are seen sleeping together perched in trees.
