Meet Sharkey

I was born on February 18, 2005, in Trappe, Maryland. While my personality is laidback and easygoing, I’m always ready for a good adventure. If I see something I need to chase, like a squirrel, for example, I’m out the door and across the field without hesitation. I also really love to intimidate the donkeys even though a kick from them would probably really hurt. Francesca complains that I’m much too spontaneous and daring, but I just really like to have fun. I think Franny believes that I’m just not as smart as she is, but she is a bit of a snob.

Out and About With Francesca - Yay!!

Out and About With Francesca - Yay!!

Today I have a treat for you!  Francesca is back!  Although frustrating, she needs to be on a leash so that she doesn’t take off and reinjure herself.  You know, squirrels are very tempting to us, Frenchies, and barking up a tree isn’t the best think for her neck.

Pruning the Apple Trees at the Farm

Pruning the Apple Trees at the Farm

Posted by Sharkey

There’s been a lot of pruning being done at the farm.  This is the time of year when apple and pear trees really benefit from a proper pruning.  Danny, from SavATree, has been caring for Martha’s trees for many years and I was happy to see him the other day.  I was also happy to …

As you may know, from time to time, Francesca and I are asked to model all of the latest fashions from the Martha Stewart Pets line available at PetSmart.  With Franny still being confined, it was up to me to pose solo once again.

Hoping for Spring

Hoping for Spring

I realize that the first day of spring, or the spring equinox, won’t arrive until March 20th.  However, like most of you, I can’t wait for that day to arrive and I decided to pay a visit to the greenhouse in hopes of finding something spring-like there.

I’m visiting the stable today because I heard that Rosemary Ganser, a DMV specializing in chiropractic and acupuncture, is here to work on Meindert and Rinze.  There’s some talk about  Franny receiving acupuncture for her bulging disc ailment and I wanted to check it out to see if it might hurt.

Exploring an Icy Farm

Exploring an Icy Farm

After G.K. and I watched the farm crew clearing and chipping wood, we took a little drive further into the woods to see if there was anything else to observe.  I know it’s been super cold outside, but I had no idea just how cold until we came upon the following.

Visiting the Farm Crew

Visiting the Farm Crew

It dawned on me the other day that I haven’t seen much of the farm crew.  I know they’ve been busy because I hear all sorts of power equipment, but I just didn’t know what they’ve been busy doing.  G.K. and I went out to investigate.

Well, it’s that time again to model the newest line of clothing from Martha Stewart’s Pets available at PetSmart.  Francesca, my modeling partner, is still confined to her crate while her bulging neck disc is healing.  I don’t mean to steal her thunder, but the fashions must be seen!

Making Compost Tea With Ryan

Making Compost Tea With Ryan

Ryan decided it was time to mix up a very special brew of tea for all of the plants in the greenhouse.  It’s compost tea made in the Compost Tea System from Growing Solutions.  It’s a wonderful organic way of feeding and the plants really like it!

Moving Plants From the House to the Greenhouse

Moving Plants From the House to the Greenhouse

As you may know, Martha loves to surround herself with plants and part of her decorating finesse is to adorn the interior of the house with potted plants that grow in the greenhouse.  Yesterday was plant moving day and, as usual, I like to supervise.
