Meet Sharkey

I was born on February 18, 2005, in Trappe, Maryland. While my personality is laidback and easygoing, I’m always ready for a good adventure. If I see something I need to chase, like a squirrel, for example, I’m out the door and across the field without hesitation. I also really love to intimidate the donkeys even though a kick from them would probably really hurt. Francesca complains that I’m much too spontaneous and daring, but I just really like to have fun. I think Franny believes that I’m just not as smart as she is, but she is a bit of a snob.

Maine in autumn

Maine in autumn

Posted by Sharkey

Silly me!  I just found these photos taken in early October, during the last time we went to Maine with Martha and her guests.  I must have misplaced the memory card.  We Frenchies take so many photos for our blog and I guess, once in a while, things can slip through a crack.  ‘Tsk-tsk,’ as …

Things are spooky at the farm!

Things are spooky at the farm!

Well, it’s Halloween time once again and you all know how much Martha likes this holiday. We, Frenchies, also enjoy the festivities, but we must admit that we do get spooked. Even one of the new cats, Empress Tang, experienced a little hair-raising. Come and take a look and happy, spooky Halloween …

Thirsty

Recently, on a bright and sunny day, Francesca and I were frolicking outdoors when we suddenly realized that we were very thirsty. We didn’t want to go all the way back to the house for a drink so, I came up with a plan. I remembered how Shaun, the gardener was using a …

We LOVE glitter!

We LOVE glitter!

Francesca and I were looking through the November issue of Living the other day – you know, the one with the turkey on the cover – and got so excited to see my photo all done up with glitter. We LOVE glitter and this is a really great story. Basically, if you log …

A visit to the pumpkin stand

A visit to the pumpkin stand

Posted by Sharkey

Franny and I were driving around the other day when we spotted a very colorful place on the side of the road.  Just for fun, we decided to check it out and discovered it was pumpkin stand, selling all kinds of decorations for Halloween.  Of course, Martha has her own pumpkin patch and has been …

Our friend, Piper

Posted by Sharkey

This is the story of a lovely 10-year-old mixed breed named Piper. She was adopted by Nancy Ashbrooke at the ASPCA in New York City. Nancy is the SVP of Human Resources at MSLO and we think she should open an AR division at Martha’s company (Animal Resources.) Because we have a fabulous online …

Repair dogs

Repair dogs

Yesterday, we heard the security guard announce that the Caterpillar repairman had arrived to service some of the farm equipment.  As you know, Francesca and I love all things mechanical, so we trotted down to the equipment barn to see if we could be of assistance.  Our pal, Steve the CAT man, was busy at …

The Columbus Day Parade

The Columbus Day Parade

Posted by Sharkey

Yesterday was Columbus Day and there was the annual Columbus Day Parade held in New York City.  We Frenchies didn’t go to the parade, but, Luigi, one of our Italian dog friends did attend and was so excited to see some rare Italian dog breeds marching, and emailed these pictures to us.  Apparently, this was …

We told Martha about the beautiful flowers we saw in the cutting garden the other day, and guess what?  She cut them!  We wanted to visit the canaries in their new home in the brown room and that’s where we found the flowers.  Martha had set a very nice table and decorated it with lovely …

Filming the new Japanese maple grove

Filming the new Japanese maple grove

Whenever there’s something important going on at the farm, you can be sure that we, Frenchies, will be right in the thick of things.  Everyone was talking about Japanese maples and a new maple grove, so we went to check it out.  Wouldn’t you know it!  We found all the action down in the shade …
