Meet Sharkey

I was born on February 18, 2005, in Trappe, Maryland. While my personality is laidback and easygoing, I’m always ready for a good adventure. If I see something I need to chase, like a squirrel, for example, I’m out the door and across the field without hesitation. I also really love to intimidate the donkeys even though a kick from them would probably really hurt. Francesca complains that I’m much too spontaneous and daring, but I just really like to have fun. I think Franny believes that I’m just not as smart as she is, but she is a bit of a snob.

A New Shipment of Honeybees

We here at the Daily Wag, will also miss Cora-Belle, the Cattle-Dog and we send our best to Lucinda and James.  We also welcome Black Mama, the Feral Cat.
Honeybees are extraordinary little creatures that provide a tremendous aid to food growers, as they pollinated many crops.  However, in recent years, many beekeepers have been facing …

Digging and Planting Equals Beauty

Digging and Planting Equals Beauty

You know that we, Frenchies, are never afraid to get our paws dirty and you may recall last autumn when we helped out in the garden by planting tulip bulbs.  Well, we are very happy to report that we are now enjoying the fruits (flowers) of our labor.

Supervising the Plants Again!

Supervising the Plants Again!

We had such a beautiful Easter with so much great holiday decor.  In addition to all the fun bunnies, eggs, and baskets, there were gorgeous plants throughout the house, which were brought from the greenhouse.  I happened to catch Ryan as he was removing the plants yesterday.  I always like to supervise this job.

We dogs were out for a walk when Franny ran ahead and dashed into the greenhouse.  GK and I caught up to her and found that she was quite engrossed, staring at the growing tables.

Francesca and Sharkey Tour The Farm

Francesca and Sharkey Tour The Farm

As you know, Francesca has been confined to the house and to a crate.  Recently, we got the go-ahead for her to resume her normal activities, erring on the side of caution.  I thought that a farm tour would be a good idea, so I fired up the Kawasaki and took Franny for a ride!

Out and About With Francesca - Yay!!

Out and About With Francesca - Yay!!

Today I have a treat for you!  Francesca is back!  Although frustrating, she needs to be on a leash so that she doesn’t take off and reinjure herself.  You know, squirrels are very tempting to us, Frenchies, and barking up a tree isn’t the best think for her neck.

Pruning the Apple Trees at the Farm

Pruning the Apple Trees at the Farm

There’s been a lot of pruning being done at the farm.  This is the time of year when apple and pear trees really benefit from a proper pruning.  Danny, from SavATree, has been caring for Martha’s trees for many years and I was happy to see him the other day.  I was also happy to …

Modeling the Latest Fashions From PetSmart

As you may know, from time to time, Francesca and I are asked to model all of the latest fashions from the Martha Stewart Pets line available at PetSmart.  With Franny still being confined, it was up to me to pose solo once again.

Hoping for Spring

Hoping for Spring

I realize that the first day of spring, or the spring equinox, won’t arrive until March 20th.  However, like most of you, I can’t wait for that day to arrive and I decided to pay a visit to the greenhouse in hopes of finding something spring-like there.

Learning About Acupuncture

Learning About Acupuncture

I’m visiting the stable today because I heard that Rosemary Ganser, a DMV specializing in chiropractic and acupuncture, is here to work on Meindert and Rinze.  There’s some talk about  Franny receiving acupuncture for her bulging disc ailment and I wanted to check it out to see if it might hurt.
