Meet Sharkey

I was born on February 18, 2005, in Trappe, Maryland. While my personality is laidback and easygoing, I’m always ready for a good adventure. If I see something I need to chase, like a squirrel, for example, I’m out the door and across the field without hesitation. I also really love to intimidate the donkeys even though a kick from them would probably really hurt. Francesca complains that I’m much too spontaneous and daring, but I just really like to have fun. I think Franny believes that I’m just not as smart as she is, but she is a bit of a snob.

Sharkey Struggles Through The Snow

Sharkey Struggles Through The Snow

Posted by Sharkey

Whew!  Do you think spring will ever arrive?  I cannot believe how much snow has fallen and keeps on falling.  The grounds crew has to shovel special paths for us dogs to go out and do you know what.  What do dogs do who don’t have paths shoveled for them?

What You May Not Know About Quince

What You May Not Know About Quince

I was walking across the lawn the other day when I got a whiff of something amazing.  Being a dog with a keen sense of smell, I tracked the aroma to two quince trees laden with fruit.  You may wonder what a quince is and I’m here to tell you.

Do You Know About Colchicum?

Walking around the farm yesterday, Francesca was confused when thought she saw spring flowers blooming.  It is, after all, autumn.  As it turns out, these particular flowers do bloom in the fall, bringing beautiful bright color to a fading landscape.

Francesca and I are both lovers of flowers and especially love walking through the pergola on the farm.  Different varieties of flowers bloom at different times of the year, so there is always something pretty blossoming for us to look at!

Francesca was in an odd mood yesterday and she wandered off to be by herself.  I didn’t want that kind of isolation, so I teamed up with Chhewang and Ryan and assisted with planting urns.  These guys are so busy and I think it’s important to cheer them on!

We here at the Daily Wag, will also miss Cora-Belle, the Cattle-Dog and we send our best to Lucinda and James.  We also welcome Black Mama, the Feral Cat.
Honeybees are extraordinary little creatures that provide a tremendous aid to food growers, as they pollinated many crops.  However, in recent years, many beekeepers have been facing …

You know that we, Frenchies, are never afraid to get our paws dirty and you may recall last autumn when we helped out in the garden by planting tulip bulbs.  Well, we are very happy to report that we are now enjoying the fruits (flowers) of our labor.

Supervising the Plants Again!

Supervising the Plants Again!

We had such a beautiful Easter with so much great holiday decor.  In addition to all the fun bunnies, eggs, and baskets, there were gorgeous plants throughout the house, which were brought from the greenhouse.  I happened to catch Ryan as he was removing the plants yesterday.  I always like to supervise this job.

We dogs were out for a walk when Franny ran ahead and dashed into the greenhouse.  GK and I caught up to her and found that she was quite engrossed, staring at the growing tables.

Francesca and Sharkey Tour The Farm

As you know, Francesca has been confined to the house and to a crate.  Recently, we got the go-ahead for her to resume her normal activities, erring on the side of caution.  I thought that a farm tour would be a good idea, so I fired up the Kawasaki and took Franny for a ride!
