Meet Francesca

I entered this world on December 13, 2004, in Pinewood, Minnesota. I’m a bit older and certainly far wiser than Sharkey. Like Sharkey, I’m also friendly and quite curious, but I’m more cautious about letting my curiosity get me into trouble. I must admit that we do have fun together. I just know when to stop. Martha describes me as being a bit obsequious, but that’s just my ability to pull the wool over her eyes. I’m just clever! I do have a high opinion about myself, and my fashion sense is magnifique! In fact, Je suis fabuleuse (I am fabulous.)

Some Signs of Spring

Some Signs of Spring

Posted by Francesca

Sharkey and I put our yellow coats on the other day and went outside to explore.  We’ve been noticing how the days seem to be getting longer and that can only mean that spring is on its way.  We trotted around the farm to see if we could find evidence of this and we weren’t …

Who Scratched the Floor?

Who Scratched the Floor?

Martha’s housekeepers work hard to keep the house looking beautiful.  Let me tell you that with so many pets, their jobs can’t be easy.  Just the other day, I found Maria working on a section of the wood floor.  There were so many scratches and I just couldn’t understand what, or who, made them until …

Francesca Explores Martha's Basement

Francesca Explores Martha's Basement

Posted by Francesca

The other day, when Sharkey went to visit Dr. Marty, I decided to go and explore the basement.  Most of the time when I am down there, it’s because I have to have a bath.  But, there is so much more to see and it was good to finally have the time to check things …

Recently, Carlos was asked to deliver some chairs from Bedford to Kevin’s office in New York City.  Kevin needed them for a photo shoot.  You know, moving furniture is challenging and very strenuous.  So, when Carlos asked for my help, I was happy to oblige.  Sharkey saw me struggling and when I asked for a …

You may know that I had a bit of difficulty accepting our new brother, G.K., into our lives.  Things were great with us, Frenchies, being the keepers of our domain.  I know that Martha really misses Paw Paw and that she really wanted another Chow Chow.  However, the arrival of little Ghenghis Khan was over …

G.K. Explores in the Snow

I suppose that when you are a puppy, there are many things to get excited about.  Sharkey and I keep forgetting that for G.K., the world is a totally new place and that things, like snow, are something of a phenomena.  It’s amusing to see his enthusiasm.  It’s kind of infectious, actually, and I have …

G.K. Visits the Chickens

G.K. Visits the Chickens

G.K. is a very curious little Chow Chow. He wonders about many things and he asks very good questions. You probably know that Martha likes her eggs really fresh and even raises her own hens. The eggs get collected daily and are delivered to the kitchen and placed in a large bowl. …

Sharkey and I have been writing this blog for 48 weeks and in all that time, I don’t think we mentioned that we are excellent pianists.  Did you even know that Martha has a piano?  We, of course, have a strong preference for French composers.  The other day, G.K. was entirely too rambunctious and I …

G.K. visits Shaun in the greenhouse

We, Frenchies, have always heard that having a new puppy is a lot of work, and we could not agree more!  There really is no rest for the weary.  When we’re with him at home, G.K. runs circles around us, wanting to play all the time.  And talk about popularity!  Everyone showers him with attention.  …

G.K says hello to the donkeys

Our new brother, Ghenghis Khan, (we call him G.K.) is a very curious and rather brave little tyke.  We’ve been working hard to teach him all about things on the farm.  We told him about the miniature donkeys and how much fun they are to chase.  Well, wouldn’t you know it!  G.K. trotted right out …
