Meet Francesca

I entered this world on December 13, 2004, in Pinewood, Minnesota. I’m a bit older and certainly far wiser than Sharkey. Like Sharkey, I’m also friendly and quite curious, but I’m more cautious about letting my curiosity get me into trouble. I must admit that we do have fun together. I just know when to stop. Martha describes me as being a bit obsequious, but that’s just my ability to pull the wool over her eyes. I’m just clever! I do have a high opinion about myself, and my fashion sense is magnifique! In fact, Je suis fabuleuse (I am fabulous.)

Pruning In The Gooseberry Patch

Pruning In The Gooseberry Patch

With the arrival of spring, so many, many things need to get done around the farm.  An on-going project has been the pruning all of the different kinds of berries that Martha likes to grow.  Pruning is important because many berries grow upon new growth and not the old.

We Frenchies hope that you all had a very pleasant Easter weekend.  It turned out to be perfect spring weather, which is a very good thing since Martha invited so many children for the big Easter egg hunt.

GK Makes Friends With the Chickens

As you may recall, I’ve been making all kinds of new friends around the farm. I started out with the donkeys and then the horses.  It was so fun and rewarding! But my friendship tour around would not be complete without visiting the chicken coop! Here my tale…

We Frenchies were listening to Ask Martha on SiriusXM Stars 106 the other day and she mentioned that her granddaughter, Jude, has been growing avocado plants on her apartment windowsill in New York City.  Well, on one of our farm adventures, we found something else that would be good to grow.  Take a look.

Finally the weather is getting warmer and Sharkey and I went for a walk.  Man, is it muddy out there!  Walking through mud is one thing, but walking through muddy water is another!

While Sharkey was having a rather intense nap yesterday, I felt like doing a little exploring.  It occurred to me that I hadn’t been to see the new baby doves since we Frenchies gave you a progress update one week ago.  See what difference a week makes in the world of baby doves!

You may recall a Daily Wag posting last June when HealthyPet Magazine came to the farm for a photo shoot.  Well, the Winter issue is out and we Frenchies thought we give you a little peek.

Dreaming Of Warmer Times

Dreaming Of Warmer Times

Like so many of you Glue Squad members, we Frenchies are having a difficult time going outdoors because of the frigid temperatures.  It’s really cold on our little feet, not to mention other body parts.  We were looking through our photo archives and came across some photos, taken in warmer times, that we have yet …

It’s been so snowy and so freezing cold that we’ve been spending a lot of time indoors.  We were feeling a little housebound, so we grabbed GK and decided to look at the outdoor Christmas ornaments.

Dropping Needles In The Autumn

Dropping Needles In The Autumn

Most needle-bearing trees keep their needles all year long, earning them the name “evergreen.”  However, there are certain species of conifers that do something quite different – they drop all their needles in the autumn and are bare all winter long.  We have a few of these species at the farm and I gave Sharkey …
