What We Could Do With A Silver Bell!

Posted by F&S

Well, it snowed again yesterday and quite a bit came down!  We Frenchies kept busy indoors helping with a very important chore.

Oh goody! Laura is cleaning Martha's silver. I've read that silver has a bad habit of tarnishing when it is exposed to air or water containing ozone or hydrogen sulfide.

Sharkey, grab a rag and let's help her out. I really LOVE shiny silver - I like to look at my reflection in it and admire my adorable face.

Martha only uses Wright's Silver Cream. The history of this stuff is really fascinating - apparently old Mr. Wright got the idea for this product when he found a cow stuck in mud.

He noticed that when he wiped the mud off the silver cow bell, the bell became shiny! That mud contained some really neat minerals that help to polish silver.

Hey Franny! Did you know that silver is going for $19.40 an ounce? We could sure sell this for some serious cash!

I think we should hold onto this silver service bell, however. After we sell the rest of the silver, we'll be so rich that we could hire our very own butler!

But Sharkey, I've got some other ideas for what we can use all this silver for.

I mean, who needs napkin rings when they can be melted down and turned into beautiful new silver collars?

Oh dream on, Franny. You know that Martha would be very unhappy with us. Let's just keep on polishing.

  • Goodness, ladies, you have Laura to care for your every need and you have Uncle Carlos to drive you wherever you want to go. Plus you live at Martha's farm! What more could you possibly want?!
But we guess everyone can dream, right?
So what is GK doing? Not polishing silver, we bet.hehehe
Well, we are waiting for the next round of rain/sleet/ice/snow. It's suppose to come this evening.
Someone really needs to have a talk with that ground hog in Pennsylvania!
    We are off to bed!
    Pugs and sleepy kisses,
    Brutus and Max

  • Oh, I just love the cow mud story!

A silver collar or some silver baubles do sound fun. But, as imagined I think Martha would frown if her good silver was melted down!

Another snow storm headed to NH tomorrow. Ugh... let the grumbles begin!

  • Hello Girls & all my Glue Squad Buddies,
Silver polishing huh? Well, I will stick to landscaping and baking Warrior Prince Biscuits, thank you. Mom hates silver, because of all the polishing. Told me when the folks got married, she returned anything silver and got pewter. That stuff looks really cool as it ages. And never polishing is my kind of stuff. But that silver bell, does have some perks, if a dog could really use it. I prefer to squeak this grand new toy Weston got me. I call him Oinkers. He is a pig and makes really wild pig sounds. Almost like a duck call. I can really have fun with him, like during Downton Abbey or NCIS. Maddox, that makes me think of Special Agent Gibbs. How is he doing with the Vegas Divas around. Are they play pals, or just buddies? Maybe a sweetheart match for Valentine's Day with one of them and him?

Well, I am up very early thinking there would be snow. NO, these weather geeks are just bringing me very cold temps with no snow. That isn't fair, I need snow with the cold. Jumped the garden fence yesterday to chase a squirrel. But there is still the 6 foot wooden Houdini Ruby fence to keep me in when I get focused on critters. Dixie Boy, be careful being a Houdini. But I know how it is, you get the nose going and whammo, gone before you know it. Now, another thing I am thinking of is how are your eye scores Kirby buddy. Better??? You must be really good at the drops by now. Better go and get the day a going all, and have a GEM of one.
    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Good morning,
I bet if you girls sold all of Martha's silver, you could buy a brand new Frenchie Mobile to drive all around the farm. It would be more spacious than the Kawasaki and have all the bells and whistles. Oh yeah!!!!!!!
Geez, some bad behavior lately. Running off the property, stealing cookies. What is going on? I would think it is because we are bored cause of the cold weather and we just want more activity. Sounds good anyway. Hehehehehe
We got about 8 inches of snow yesterday and tonight and through tomorrow we are supposed to have 100% freezing rain and then another snow storm this weekend. That no good stinkin' ground hog. He should be kicked out of the state
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Good Morning F & S

You won't find any silver in our house mom refuses to polish the stuff. Plus we aren't into the formal look. Mom likes to watch Duck Dynasty need I say more? Haha no she is not a redneck and doesn't have a beard but we like casual :)

Maddox now don't be getting all mad at the ground hog he gives a forecast once a year and sometimes gets it wrong. On the other hand we listen to these weather people 24/7 and they get it wrong all the time! Just calm your biscuits and lets wait and see what the future holds. I know our future tonight has more snow and ice and more snow this weekend :(
I'm thinking about New Mexico myself.

Well mom has to leave for work she better be careful the roads are all ice. Oh I can't wait until I can complain about the heat..............

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, You two sweet girls sure did a great job helping Laura clean those beautiful silver items that belong to your wonderful mother, Martha! My Mom always loved seeing all of Martha's beautiful items at her home and she even has some silver items, also! Did you sweet girls and GK go out in the snow again yesterday? Bet it was very cold there! We have freezing weather and maybe snow later this week! Hope you stay safe and warm and be sure to hug GK for me! So nice to hear from 5 of you buddies this morning and will check back later! I noticed that a dog named Baxter who belongs to Sally has a birthday today so I wish him a Happy Birthday! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Good morning ladies,
I love silver, too. I think that a silver studded leather collar would be more comfortable than solid silver. Mimi uses Weiman's silver polish, but maybe she'll try Wright's next time. Got to look up that cow story, very interesting indeed.
We're looking at a 7 to 10 inch snow storm today. Moisture is good for the fields and Decatur, IL needs it for their lake, but enough already!
All my friends be careful of the ice. Stay home if you can.
    Have a great day all.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I’ll answer a request first. My eye isn’t any better and won’t get any better than it is. All we are doing with the drops is keeping it from hurting me by building up pressure inside the eye. I get one drop three times a day, another drop two times a day and one drop every other day. That’s three kinds of drops for me. I get an animal cookie at each drop, so I don’t mind the drops at all. Unlike Maddox, I don’t hide them, I just chew them up. I sure do like cookies.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi Y'all,
Looking good girls. Mis said that when you finished with Martha's silver you could come for a visit and polish her silverware. Hey, the temps are nicer here but it's not any drier. That pink stuff has a real funky smell, don't you think? And after hearing the story of its creation, we understand why. HAHAHAHA
Maddox, Mis was trying to work some of our energy OUT when I made my escapes. She then realized that she was the only one that the energy was being worked out of. It just wired us more. I like to roam on my own but she won't take her eyes off me right now. George has to be accompanied or he won't roam or run. He just sticks close to Mis or us pups.
Mis read something the other day about Winter. "It will be over when it's over, then it will be Spring!". I know that that is of no comfort to those of you getting whacked again today, but you know, It can't last for more than 24 hours a day, or 7 days a week. And every day passed adds up to weeks and then it will be spring. Just find some joy in those days and don't wish them away!
Okay, enough of the deep stuff!
    Stay warm and Safe Buddies!
    Dixie Boy

  • :-) Boy do you girls have worries! Polishing silver, and so much of it! Wonder why you guys don't use those silver saver pockets, I leave my silver in them and no need to polish.

Kirby I hope your drops keep you from too much pain in your eye...sorry to hear this.

Hasn't anyone else noticed the disappearance of Uncle Carlos?? :-( we miss him...

mommie ~d doesn't feel good this morning, so I made this quick & short for her

    Hugs and Prurrs to all,
    Kitty =^. .^= & delia
