Posted by F&S

The new season of Martha Bakes is about to be taped and there is always so much to do in preparation.  Yesterday, we Frenchies helped Ryan pot up some new plants for the set.

That's right, Francesca. Martha bought 4 pairs of plants and Ryan is going to put them in some of master potter, Guy Wolff's amazing pots.

This is a bird's nest fern and the apple-green tongue-shaped fronds are whole, rather than cut, like other ferns.

Don't forget a sprinkling of Osmocote, which will feed the plant for weeks to come.

Add more soil and give it a good tamping all around the pot.

Ryan, let me help you with the next fern. I can easily drop the broken shard over the drain hole.

Francesca, are you bagging up the plants for travel to New York City in the morning?

Franny, very nicely done. I can't wait to see how great these plants will look on the Baking Show set.

  • :-) F&S I need many of my plants replanted, you're welcome to come to my house and help with that chore.

Monday it got to 41 degrees here and snow was melting, then the news reported we will have a load of snow coming today....oh make it stop!
I popped by here (before going to bed) and the post was up already, so took advantage of being an early bird, since I'm always the last to comment,

    Have a great day everyone!
    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • Hello Francesca, Sharkey, Ryan and Glue Squad!
Ladies, as we have said time and time again, it's a darn good thing Martha has you to supervise on her farm. See, Ryan almost forgot to add the Osmocote!
Karen, we are really sorry to hear about your cousin. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
Ruby, girl, make sure you give your mama some extra "cc". And give her an extra love-lick from us, ok?
Brutus here....hopefully this is the day Mom will take this bandage off my foot. It's much better now. And I've noticed Mom hasn't given me any pain medication since Sunday. I was on a rimyadl high for a couple of days. I've not shaken that darn bag off since the fiasco on Sunday...I've been a good boy.
Max here....better Brutie than me! hahahaha
Guess that's it for us tonight. Dad just stuck his head in the room and told us to get off the computer. Drat!
Hope everyone stays healthy and happy!
    Pugs and kisses,
    Brutus and Max

  • Good morning everyone, first, Karen said I am supposed to thank everyone for the support you gave us for the loss of her cousin. That was very nice of everyone.
Now, these plants are sooooooooo green and soooooo shiny. I wonder if they waxed them like you do at a car wash. Hehehehehe. Seriously I think they will look beautiful on the set of the Martha Bakes show.
Hey Zoe, today is Pre Hump Day. WAA Huu. Brutus, I hope your foot heals fast. Missy Chow, Ruby Dudley and the rest of you that had football teams win, pretty soon it will get ugly cause your teams will go head to head. Can't wait. Dixie Boy, I would agree with you, your computer is slightly screwed up. Chloe, tell the other Chiweenies to get the Merry Maids in to clean. It will go faster. Kirby, I said it last week and I will say it again, I think Mother Nature is experimenting with medical marijuana and that is why our weather is so messed up. Chewy, what have you been up to? See any raccoons lately? Hehehehehehe. Rebel, Kitty, James Dean and Abby, Martha, Riley, Lucy, And Black Mamma, I hope all of you are doing well along with the humans that we all own.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Good Morning F & S

Nice job on planting the ferns. I should buy my mom a fern for Valentines Day they sure do look pretty. A few of those would look nice in our kitchen.

Sharkey I was noticing your face this morning and you are so lucky you have no gray fur you are like my sister Sophie. I'm getting so much white on my face I keep telling my mom I need a touch up. Sophie is a blonde lab and she keeps getting whiter!! I need a make over :( Tomorrow I go for my annual checkup and I think I'm starting to have some issues with my pee pee. I had 2 accidents in the house while laying with mom and I had just been outside. Mom is hoping I just have a bladder infection and it's nothing more serious. She is going to take a urine sample with us tomorrow morning. Getting old really sucks.

Maddox I'm so sorry to hear about Karen's cousin. Can you give her a big lick for me and a hug for mom.

Rain here today so I think I'll just rest up and prepare for my doctors appointment tomorrow morning. I can feel it now that cold rod getting stuck up my butt to take my temperature. I wish Dr. Keefe had one like they use on the kids that just rolls across my forehead - oh my :(

  • Hello Girls & all my Glue Squad Buddies,
First, I must say how much I missed you all yesterday. It is so unlike me not to blog, but I was busy being Mom's nurse, and boy is she high maintenance when she is sick. I couldn't get to the computer to save my soul. It will not happen again missing my Glue Squad buddies, hear that Mom.

I love seeing you girls inside assisting for the show. You are in landscaping design also, aren't you? Your's is more in door home decor at the moment. Either I was in the ozone or something, but I missed the usual holiday trimming at your house. There was only one day I caught on each blog. I love seeing your home inside also.

Karen and Maddox, my heart goes out to you and your family for the loss of your cousin.

As for Mother Nature using Medical Marijuana, she is for sure, I saw her buying it around the corner here. Everyone else is talking about how they want spring and warm weather, and we have had about 2 dustings of just a few inches. No big one yet. I WANT WINTER----NO SPRING YET. Give me a good blizzard or two. Well, wait until after the playoff game Sunday. Is this going to be an exciting football weekend or what---Broncos, Seahawks, Patriots, oh my!!!!

Brutus, I am glad you are staying calm and carrying on. You will be yourself in no time, big guy. Oh, I better wrap it up, these darn nursing duties. Yesterday, I would go out, patrol the kingdom, lay on the dry dead grass, get covered in it, come in and cuddle by Mom for a few and cover her with grass, and then do it all over again. Is this a good nurse or what? I know, I am the best. Have a GEM of a day and Zoe hope all works out at the vet tomorrow.
    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Oh wow, things are popping around here. It started to rain last night and hasn’t stopped. That makes it hard to go outside. I manage but I get my feet wet in the process. I don’t get my head wet because of the “cone” I have on. But I don’t dare look up or it will fill with water and run down my neck. Daddy used to take my cone off when he took me out, but I couldn’t behave myself, grabbed my tail, so he makes me keep it on when we go outside. I guess instinct is stronger than learning.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, WOW! My Mom absolutely loves seeing Martha's Baking and Cooking videos on PBS and Create at least twice a week and can't wait to see the new Baking video ASAP! How nice that you two sweet girls worked with Ryan potting up those 4 beautiful plants in Guy Wolff's great pots and Mom loves his pots, also! You sweet girls sure did look cute helping him and it will be fun to see them in her videos! Would love to see you two and GK on her videos, also! Was great to hear from Delia, Brutus and Max, Maddox, Zoe, and Ruby already this morning! Delia, sure hope you don't have too much more snow and please hug sweet Kitty for me! Brutus, hope you are doing better and Max you sound very well! Maddox, thanks for another great set of comments about our friends and you! Zoe, sure hope you don't have a big problem with you peeing and hope you feel much better real soon! Ruby, sure hope your Mom is doing better after you worked as a nurse for her! Sure missed you yesterday! Will be fun to see who will play in the final football game this year! Continue taking care of Mom! Will check back later! Love Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Good morning gardening ladies,
You gals sure are on your collective toes! Ryan does a great job, but all our human friends need guidance and reminders from us. The ferns are very green indeed. I am helping Mimi with her nasturtium & borage seeds. The Christmas tree is down & we have lots of southside sunshine to keep them warm. Sprouts on the way!
Hey Ruby, tell your Mom Rebel sends Chihuahua hugs & kisses & hope she gets better soon.
Max, you're so silly, Brutus may sneak a downer in your food (if there's one left over!) Good goin' Brutus, I knew you could keep your "sock" on.
Kirby, I would think the cone could keep your head dry, too.
Zoe, be a good girl at the vet. Do you love your veterinarian as much as I do? I love my Dr. Becky.
Great idea Dudley, the girls & G.K. could visit Martha at the studio. I loved to see them when they'd be on the show.
Hey, Professor, I sure hope you and Karen and Mammy Jean are taking it easy today. You all deserve some quiet time.
Hi Kitty, I was surprised to see your super early post. Have you been outside lately? I think I see you all curled up in a ball on Delia's lap.
    Have a good day everybody.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hmmm... I wonder if F&S will make an appearance on the baking show? :)

I've been a fan of all of Martha's TV Shows and I am enjoying the latest series of shows on PBS.

It's been raining all morning here. It's a goupy mess outside! It could be worse I guess, it could be snowing! :) I'll take muddy paths over icy walkways any day!

    Happy Tuesday to all..

  • Hi Y'all!
How appropriate for the show, a Lasagna Birds Nest Fern. This make Mis want to get her hands in some soil! Can't though, it's raining AGAIN! I know Mis keeps telling us not to complain about rain because drought is much worse, but I don't like WATER!
Ruby, tell Lynn that we hope she's feeling better! Keep up the good work girl! Nothing gets them moving like having to clean up after us. You could do like George did yesterday. He found some goopy muck and tried to make a mud mask out of it. Oh, he went straight to the tub! Lucky that Mis didn't just hose him off in the yard. Wait, that's right, she couldn't. She broke that faucet trying to wrap it up last week! Lucky little twerp!
Zoe hope everything can be fixed at the vets. You're right, getting old is the pits! But like they say, 'Pull your big girl panties up and deal'! Sorry, I just had to!
By the way, Ruby, why don't you and kitty do a house swap for the winter. Delia would be happy with a snowless Colorado and you'd have all the snow you'd every like to see. It could work???!!!
Brutus, hope the foot has healed. Mis hates those Rimadyl highs. I take that sometimes for broken wag and I get all goofy in the head.
Maddox, Mis switched me to the backup keyboard today so I could be heard more clearly without all if the backslashes and number 5's popping up.
I wish everyone a doggy good day!
    Dixie Boy

  • Good morning Glue Squad! Wow everybody was up early this morning to post. I decided I just didn't want to get up this morning and slept in. Mom came in a few minutes ago and said either get out of bed or she was making it with me in it. I have no problem with that as long as she leaves the blankie turned on low, but I guess she does, cause here I am!
Ruby it is so great of you to be your mammas nurse and take such good care of her! I bet there are extra treats in store for you for all your hard work.
I think my Mom is getting Spring Fever too Rebel. We went on an walk around the yard yesterday and she was oohing and awing over all the new little green sprouts coming up in the flower beds. She came right in and started going thru her seed box and decided we are going to put Nasturtiums all the way around our house. She and I decided this would be the best course of action after the big bulb fiasco of 2013...Mayer seemed to think mom spent days planting bulbs just so he could go on a digging spree...I don't know why she was so upset, he brought them all to the porch for her to see what a great helper he was being. I had to take him aside and tell him that if he realllllly wanted to get on moms bad side to just keep it up..he obviously listened and she wised up and put all her bulbs at the front of the house where we can't get to em. Our favorite little human is coming over in a little bit to spend the afternoon with us. We miss her so much and mom told us this morning that Jaimes mom is going back to work Feb.1 and we couldn't be happier. That means she will be at our house 3 days a week and it is never dull when Jaime Grace is here!
So I better go get ready for her arrival.
Hope all our Glue Squad buddies have a great Tues.
    Chloe, The Queen Chiweenie

  • Ladies you two always look cute but today you look especially adorable.

I hope everyone is feeling better/getting better. Sending good thoughts to your family Maddox. Zoe I hope this is a temp minor situation. Ruby Gem Girl to Mom's rescue. Brutus take it easy on your foot please! Everyone have a great day!
