Removing Holiday Decor

Posted by F&S

Whenever Martha entertains, she likes to fill the house with beautiful potted houseplants.  There are many fine choices that Ryan cares for in the greenhouse.  It's his job to move them from the greenhouse into the main house and back again.  We Frenchies, of course, like to be involved.

Well, here it is the Monday after Thanksgiving and the beautiful houseplants from the greenhouse are still on display.

Ryan decorated before Thanksgiving. I love when there are beautiful plants to look at like this amazing Cattleya, also known as a corsage orchid.

I think it's ready to go back into the nice warm and moist greenhouse environment, where it can remain healthy until the next time we need it to beautify our home.

Francesca, I certainly enjoyed looking at this glossy lady slipper orchid. The pouch traps insects, forcing them to pollinate the flower. How clever!

Sharkey, this is one of Martha's new topiary plants and I know she will be very unhappy if it drys out and looses any leaves. Back to the greenhouse it goes!

Well, here we are in the Brown Room hoping that Ryan shows up soon for all of these plants.

Well, if that isn't perfect timing. There's Ryan now removing an unusual fern in one of those handsome Guy Wolff pots.

Ryan, in these cold temperatures, it's really important to work fast and get the plants into the greenhouse quickly. We wouldn't want the cold to hurt these tropical plants in any way.

Sharkey, let's ride to the greenhouse with Ryan and make sure these plants get put away where they belong. It's tricky business moving plants in the cold!

  • Good morning everyone,
Geez, all kinds of bad going on with the Glue Squad. Jumping on tables, showing teeth and growling. Kirby, I guess your tail hurt bad for you to growl at the people you love. They are only trying to make it feel better. They know you didn't mean it. I wish we could figure out how to take care of that tail of yours so it wouldn't hurt you. Zoe is sad cause her mamma is going on vacation. Franny and Sharkey are busy as usual helping with chores around the farm. Where is GK? I miss seeing him on the DW.
Well, I guess we might as well start thinking about if we are on the naughty or nice list. It is that time of year. From what I have been reading, some of us could tip the scales and end up on the naughty side. But, before that happens if any of you Glue Squad members is in trouble, just let the rest of us know and we will have an intervention. We will use brain washing techniques to convince your humans that you really are on the nice list, you just stray to the dark side once in a while. Hehehehehehehe
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Well, Ladies, it's a good thing you are so observant and made sure Ryan was doing his job. We know Martha employs you to keep that farm running smoothly while she is hard at work. Hope he got all those plants back to the greenhouse safely.
Kirby, Brutus understands about the sensitive tail. He doesn't like anyone touching his either.
Chloe, we laughed and laughed about Sophie table hopping! Brutus, a few years back, would snag food off the kitchen counter and the dining table, but he can't anymore....the coffee table is still fair game.
I, Max, have never been able to get at anything higher than the floor. I'm like a vaccum cleaner with the floor! hahahaha
Nothing much happening around here today. Since it's Tuesday, Mom is off work, but she has a long list of things to do and places to be....hope one place is Pet Smart..hehehe.
Well, Daddy is calling me to come to bed....Brutus is already asleep.
    Must be off!
    Pugs and kisses
    Max

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
I think it is very nice of you girls helping Ryan with the plants, but I want to see the holiday decor. Christmas, what is Mama Martha doing for Christmas? Are you girls helping set it now? Bet it will be beautiful. I was hoping to see a special from your house on t.v. Any chance?

Well, all the trees are set up and my butt vrooming is something the folks didn't think of when setting up Dad's train set from childhood under the tree. Doing o.k. so far, but it is close not to have a hurricane in Christmas town.

You cracked me up Chloe about Sophie on the table. I wish you had a photo. Now, that would have been priceless. Snow and cold are moving in here. The fireplace is stocked with wood and we are to be getting up to 10 inches in 2 days--one can only hope. Only in the single digits for temps though. Glad everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Now, we have to all be thinking of what to ask Santa for this year. Everyone, think SNOW for me here. And Zoe, at least you aren't having Super Nanny, and get to stay with Dad. Mama Ann, have fun in the sun. Have a GEM of a day all.
    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Good Morning F & S

Those plants and my mom have something in common - going to a warm place. Am I going to a warm place you ask?? NO!! I'M STUCK IN NEW JERSEY FREEZING MY BUTT OFF!!!!

I bet your house will be in full Christmas decorating mode now getting ready for the big fat guy to visit. F & S anything special on your list this year? I'm going to ask for a hair color kit I'm getting a lot of white hair around my face. I also need a wax job or tweezers, long hair under my mouth. I turned 8 this year and I'm starting to show my age. I haven't completed my list I'll work on that while mom is away.

Well my friends this will be my last post until mom returns.

Everyone stay safe and be good cause Santa is watching :)

    Zoe

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
The tail incident had been all but forgotten until I was alone while Mommy and Daddy went out with friends last night. I took care of my tail problem all by myself. I took all the new itchy stuff out. Now it doesn’t feel any better but it will be a month before the itchy stuff comes back. It was an all day battle but I won out in the end. Now my end will hurt for another week until it heals up, but I won. I stood real still while they worked on my tail. I know when to growl and not to growl now; just make sure Daddy isn’t drinking water unless I want some too. Hehehehehe I think I will behave myself today.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, WOW! You sweet, beautiful girls sure did a great job helping Ryan move Martha's beautiful plants back to that great greenhouse after Thanksgiving! These photos of those plants are absolutely beautiful and I love seeing Guy Wolff's beautiful pots they are in! Sure looks like you had fun loading the plants in the Kawasaki and being sure they didn't get cold outside! Sure hope you girls and Gk have another great day and be sure to hug him for me! Nice to hear from Maddox, Brutus and Max, Ruby, Zoe, and Kirby so far and will check back to read all of the comments later! It's cold here and Mom has to make a nice warm fire to warm up our house! It even snowed a bit last night and got very cold! We have to get lots more wood ready again! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Good morning ladies,
The plants are so pretty. Mimi bought a zebra plant for her office and is working hard to keep it from getting dried up. I like the corsage orchid, it's really pretty!
Wow, everybody, remember Santa is on the way, even for we pups & kitties. So, Kirby, I know itches are hard to ignore (your poor tail), Sophie the table hop or maybe a car hop? 4 little roller skates and off you'd go! Max, like you, I am on floor duty, too!
Ruby dear, butt vroom away! Maddox, are you helping Karen with the puppies? Zoe, your Mom will be home soon, I'll miss your posts. To all my other friends, have a great day.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • :-) What a lovely home...that's my taste! You girls are lucky to live in such splendor ;-)
My house looks like a funeral parlor with all the plants I brought in this year, plus all the plants my neighbor gave me before her move...I can't say no! Wish I had a greenhouse (think I mentioned this before)
Took Kitty to the Vet to get her pills for the residual round worms she gets for eating outdoor delicacy rodents (gross) :-( the new Vet loved her and Kitty was such a good cat...she weighed in at 11lbs...for a small cat that's a lot, yet she doesn't look fat with all that silky hair. Anyway Kitty was all lovable when we got home, I thought she'd be mad at me because she was so stressed out.
Franny and Sharkey you look adorable in those photos...so elegant!
To all, be good and have a pleasant safe day!
    Hugs,
    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • Hi Y'all,
Ahhhhh, greenhouse duty. Be sure to tuck everyone in once you get them back home and feed them a special treat for being sooo beautiful. Amazing how humans can humanize all living things. And yes, we do believe plants have feelings. Just maybe not in a way we understand. If the plants around here could convey what they felt, we dogs would be in serious trouble!
    Okay Mis, stop aimlessly rambling......
Sounds like some of us got the turkey grumps instead of the Friday bloat. Shape up! Christmas is coming! Kirby, Izzy can relate to the itchy tail problems. She walks around about half the year with Possum Tail. Sorry, don't have any advice except slather it in something that you find distasteful. Burts Bees made a product many years ago (of course they no longer make it) that was a disgusting tasting, hot spot ointment and it worked great. The closest thing to it now is Burts Bees Rescue Salve, but Izzy will lick at this some. It's a hard life living in a cone, I'm sure.
Kitty, the cousins' Cat From Heck, Tabitha gets so nervous at the vets that she constantly purrs. They have to take her to look out a window so Dr. M can listen to her heart. She won't stop purring any other way. It's about the only time she's civil and quite lovable. Fear of being taken away and abandoned again they think. But then she comes home and returns to her normal, grumpy self.
Everyone seems to be talking about cold weather and snow!!?? We are enjoying rising temps and some cloudy weather. It's going to be 74 on Friday! Okay, it comes with a price, 39 and rain on Sunday. But we'll be enjoying that 74 while it lasts!
Everyone have a Doggy Good Day!
    Dixie Boy

  • Catching up on everyone's post holiday antics. So sorry about your tail Kirby Bear.

I hope everyone has a peaceful, relaxing day.

  • Will Ryan be bringing in any festive Christmas plants to adorn the house?

It's kind of like Spring here in NH! :) Near 50 and sunny! :)

I think Mother Nature is setting me up for a 'snow job' in the future!

    Happy Tuesday...gail

  • Evening Girls & Glue Squad Buddies - Another late day post, thanks Mom..You girls have been busy, checking out the bee hives and their winter housing conditions and today watching Ryan put away all the plants again. I tell you, there's just no rest, right?? Christmas decorations will be going up soon and you'll be supervising once again. Well, we had a quiet Thanksgiving, everybody came, and I was on real good behavior too :) - so I got some turkey and ice cream, so yummy!! Kirby, sure hope your tail will feel better soon. Zoe, your Mom will be home before you know, bet it will be a fun week with Dad. Ruby, snow for you...Mom's not ready for it yet. Temps in the 50's today ;) , Delia, hope you are feeling better and glad Kitty was a good girl at the vet's. Sophie, you rascal, Chloe sure tells a funny story. Abby & James Dean, I still have to write my letter to Santa so I'm not ready yet. Hope all my friends & buddies are doing okay. Hope Mom fires up the computer early tomorrow morning for me..better still....now where is that button, maybe I can surprise her instead, hehe...

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo
