Our Holiday Decor Is Underway!

Posted by F&S

Well, we Frenchies have barely recovered from all the Thanksgiving activity and now our house is being decorated for Christmas!  It seems that Laura Acuna, who does an amazing job with decorating, just put the Christmas ornaments away a couple of months ago!  But, no, an entire year has elapsed and it's time to decorate again.  Here's a little glimpse at what's been done.

Sharkey, I really love this tinsel tree covered with all of these blue and green balls. It's so elegant set in this copper urn.

Francesca, do you think we'll be invited to sit at this holiday table when Martha has her dinner party on Friday? I don't see any place cards yet.

  • Hello Girls & all my Glue Squad Buddies,
Now this is what I have been hoping for---seeing your beautiful holiday decor. And I must say, this is fabulous, fabulous. I love it all. Especially #2 with the special sparkle (those trees look like they are from Hammond's Candy in Denver) and those glittering pinecone ornaments. I think I see what I am leaning towards, the sparkle and bling. You boys may like otherwise, but this Ruby Gem loves the bling. Bling it on baby, it is the holidays. Hehehehehehe

I hope the cold weather is starting to get a bit warmer for everyone. Our fireplace has been a happening place for sure, keeping us toasty. I had a great time baking cookies yesterday, and was really a Christmas "star." Santa did you see me, I didn't steal any cookies and was such a help?

Have a GEM of a day all.
    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Hi everyone,
First, Karen said to let everyone know that everything went well yesterday in all that ice. Funny, she tripped and fell over a rug in the house a few days ago but she didn't fall on a yard full of ice. Go figure. Hehehehehe. Anyway, she said to tell you that she appreciates that everyone was so concerned and she said to say Thank You Glue Squad.
Ok, now to the decorations. They are beautiful and I bet Jude and Truman will thoroughly enjoy everything. But, I have a question and that is where is the "dog tree"? The one with biscuits used as decorations instead of ornaments? The one with a moose antler on the top? The one with dog toys under it? Let's hope that special tree is a work in progress. Hehehehehe
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • :-) Lovely decorations! Laura has done a nice job of decorating...I love the sparkly photo, a great touch indeed! You girls look like dolls checking out all the decor. My favorite trees are the ones in the Urns, very classy.
Snowing here again, and extremely cold .....brrrrrrrr... ;-(
Karen I hope you didn't hurt yourself falling over the rug...go figure inside.
Kitty finally figured out it's better to be inside then out, although yesterday the door was revolving, in out - in out and I'm the one who gets cold..now she sits there and looks out...pathetic ..
GS friends have a safe day!
    Hugs,
    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Well it’s that time of the year again. My tree went up yesterday; now things look really good around here. I slept for hours under the tree yesterday. I have been doing this every year from year one for me. Today the small train will be placed under the tree and I will rearrange things the way I want them. I do that every year too. I just wish the tree would not go away like it does every year. I like having it in the living room with it’s bright lights and all those bears on it. Yep, my tree has bears on it each one is a different size. I think we should replace them with Chow Chows.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Goodness, Ladies they have you doing everything at the farm! Guess it keeps you busy and out of trouble.
Mom finally has our house decorated and she's cooking and/or baking something every day. Smells great and we get a little every now and then.
We received another 2 inches of snow overnight. Yahhoooo!
Must be off....Mom has a lunch date and Dad is grumbling about the snow. Some people!
Hope everyone has a great Tuesday.
    Pugs and kisses!
    Brutie and Max

  • Good morning ladies,
I love to see your house decorated, too. Mimi has gotten so many ideas from Martha through the years. Brace yourselves, there are stuffed fuzzy squirrels sitting under our tree! Yikes. Last year there were some hedgehogs too, but I fixed them, I ate their noses off! Needless to say, Mimi was not happy.
I'm glad Karen is okay. Mimi slipped on the ice wheeling the garbage cart out to the curb. Her left leg ended up in a position that it has not been in for many decades. The dumpster landed on top of her, too. She's a hobbling today. So many places to go, groceries, post office, Christmas shopping and the mall. This is going to take some figuring out. I told her one place a day & then home to rest that knee. She's saying "ouch" a lot.
Share more holiday pictures, we love them.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hi Y'all,
Oh my, we love the big eyes you girls are giving those peppermints. The wonderous things you find at Christmas. Mis loves those blue pinecones. She collects vintage glass pinecones, but we won't be seeing any out this year because of George. And that goes for the glass birds too. She may see about hanging a branch and decorating it so at least something looks festive in the house. The store in Raleigh is all decked out, but people keep wanting to buy the decorations. (Aaaaarrrrrgggggg)
Ruby, Mis forgot that you live near one of the best candy factories. Hammonds has the best peppermints ever!
Maddox, tell Karen that it's the things that you least expect that will trip you up. Hope she's ok!
Kirby, sleeping under the tree is magical. I've never done it but Mis said that that was her most favorite thing when she was little. And all the cats love to do it also but only with live trees. Forget the plastic ones. Must be something about the odor.
Rebel, take care of Mimi. Sit on her if you have to. Mis's sister, Kim fell on a concrete floor back in the spring and didn't bounce. Broke her knee cap. Had to stay on crutches or in a wheelchair with a huge leg brace for a couple of months.(Luck would have it that the bones stayed together after they broke, so no surgery) Physical therapy, back to the orthopedic a few more times during the summer. Ended up keeping it in a brace or was on crutches most of the summer. And just when she thought she was recovering well, she got severe tendonitis in the ankle and has had to walk around in a boot for a month! She is NOT a happy camper. Probably because she couldn't go camping, or anywhere that involved much walking. Talking about a caged bird! So let her know that it's the easy way or the hard way.
And by the way, "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow, You Can Bet your Bottom Dollar That Tomorrow, There will Be SUN!" Finally! As I'm writing this it's still raining. Shouldn't complain! We needed the rain but it's been too many dreary days for ALL of us!
Everyone, stay warm and keep everyone safe.
    Dixie Boy

  • Hello Francesca, Sharkey, and GS buddies,
My what a gorgeous group of decorations on the dinner table! We love seeing the special decorated trees and gleaming peppermint evergreens too.
Ruby, we always knew you were a bling girl! Mimi hope you feel better after that icy fall. Karen, hope you are alright too.
Dixie Boy, do you drink southern pecan coffee down there?? Mom's favorite but its seasonal and not easy to procure around the northeast.
We have more ice, rain and that white stuff on the roads again today making the commute a challenge for my Mom. The dogs and cats at the hospital need attention 365 days of the year so its pack and stay over when the ice starts up at night.
Kirby, we like to sit under the tree too. Wow, I am glad my Mom did not try to give this persian boy a bath!!! Looks like I better start self-grooming more often!! Bet Kitty does not like baths either.
Abby skipped work yesterday so might go in today. She is in love with that new dog bed.
Yes, Glue Squad, there is a Santa Claus, so be good or don't get caught!

  • Hello F,S and all the GS buddies:
Well, Martha's house looks amazing already, so many beautiful things and I'm sure we only saw a tiny portion of the decorating. Mom is finished decorating our house now, just have to keep it clean now until Xmas and throughout the holidays! Dixie Boy, I think we have all your sunshine - its cold here, but glorious sunshine in Southern Ontario. Makes you want to be outside, even if it is cold! We love to just sit outside and enjoy the fresh air, Miz Lu makes a nest in the leaves on the flower beds next to the house, I have a comfy spot right beside the fish pond and Martha likes to sit on the garden path just through the arbor. We all commune with the sunshine and sleep away the afternoon. Cold doesn't really both us too much, we have double coats and monstrously hairy feet (like Belgian horses) so cold is our friend. Hope everyone is keeping well and being good, Mom says the fat man in the red suit is watching us puppies as well - she is so funny, calling us puppies - Martha is nearly 7, Lucy is nearly 6 and I'm 18 months (although they say that a Beardie has a puppy brain until they are at least 3). I might be 60 lbs. but I'm a lap dog for sure! Well, gotta go, looking forward to snoozing in the sunshine ..... Riley boy, Martha and Miz Lu.

  • Aw, I just love the twinkling effect! :)

Well, it's snowing in NH right now. It certainly does make it seem more Christmasy.

My house is decorated with vintage Christmas decorations and ornaments.

I'm hoping Santa hasn't checked me off his list. I might have been naughty once. Or twice! :)

    Happy Twinkling Tuesday...
