Transplanting Wisteria

Posted by F&S

While we were out and about on the farm yesterday, we noticed a planting project taking place.  The guys looked a little short-handed so we Frenchies offered our services to get the job done.

You guys must be digging holes for the 6 large wisteria vines, brought here from the East Hampton garden. We can help you plant them.

Sharkey, I'll operate the Hi-Lo while you guide the wisteria into place.

Slowly, Francesca! Move it forward slowly.

Tell me how much more, Sharkey!

Just a tad, Franny.

You're nearly there.

Good job operating the machine, Francesca.

Thanks, Sharkey. I've been honing my operation of heavy equipment skills. You never know when these things will come in handy.

Do you think the guys remembered to put some Epsoma Bio-tone in the hole?

Franny, you know that Bio-tone Starter is loaded with microbes to help plants grow a larger root mass, promote bigger blooms, and reduce transplant loss.

From what I can smell, the Bio-tone is already in the hole.

Come springtime, these wisteria will be loaded with large, fragrant, and gorgeous blooms. I can't wait to see and smell that!

  • Hump Day
Zoe , you enjoy Hump Day. Me too. You know Franny and Sharkey, you should enlist GK into doing some of that work with you. Now that he took a break from the show ring he can be put to work more on the farm. That looks like a big job transplanting the wisteria. But you girls seem to have done fine.
Delia, Delia, Delia what is going on lady? You not only fall but you passed out also? You better get a thorough physical to check things out. It is good you didn't break anything.
To the chiweenies, thank you for asking about Val's three boys. They will be two weeks old this Friday. One of the boys is a big bruiser and the other two are smaller. All three are doing good. Val's human family will be coming to visit her and the boys this afternoon. Val will think she is going home with them but not yet. The puppies need a lot of care yet. . And Trinity's little girl is doing great. She is three weeks old and she yells to go out to go potty. Unbelievable. She is very smart.
Well, I better get to bed cause I am helping Karen again in the morning. We have a routine worked out do things go pretty smoothly. I stayed up to see Martha on Letterman tonight. She looked very pretty
    Later you maniacs,
    Maddox

  • Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen of Bedford and Glue Squad!
Once again, that farm would go straight to Hades if you two were not there to supervise and lend a helping hand! Martha owes you big time!
Well it's freezing here. The weather peeps say it's not suppose to get above 30 today. Brrrr.
Max here....I don't think I'll complain much when Mom puts that sweater on me today. Brutus here...I just wish my fur and especially my tail fur would grow back faster...even I'm a little nipplely today.
Here is hoping everyone has a great Thanksgiving. And remember to hug your loved ones and give thanks for all you have.
    Happy Thanksgiving to all!
    Brutus and Max

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
Transplanting Wisteria heh? Certainly a job for Super Franny and Sharkey. All that stuff in the holes--my Dad does that too. How did you girls get certified for the fork lift and back hoe? If I could get certified, I could not only do better at landscaping, but go to work on occasion with Weston. Tell me!!

Well, I see the camel and it is Hump Day and day before Thanksgiving. The linens washed and prepared and table set and all systems go for tomorrow. I will report good on Friday that I didn't eat an entire pan of dressing. I am getting my very own this year--no onions.

Now, Mama Delia I am very, very, concerned for your health. What with the brain scan thing and now this fainting and flopping, you better get to the vet and quick. I mean doctor, sorry.

Maddox, you thought the name up for one of the pups and didn't even know it--Bruiser. That is good. Val will be sad to see her other family come and go, so sneak her lots of extra treats.

Well, Glue Squad Buddies, I can't believe it, on the 21st I was with my forever family a year and know all of you that long. What a wonderful legacy my guardian angel, Basil, left me with all his buddies. I give thanks for all of you and your folks and Martha for having the blog. We would never have met otherwise. HAVE A GEM OF A THANKSGIVING ALL!!
    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Good job manning that heavy equipment Frannie! :)

Wisteria's have such an enchantment to them. Kind of like I should be in a castle, leaning over the balcony with my long glorious hair flowing down, just touching the top of the Wisteria plant, waiting for my prince to arrive.

    Yeah, right! :)

Happy Thanksgiving to all the critters...and gluey's! :)

  • Morning Girls & Glue Squad Buddies - Happy Thanksgiving to all of my friends. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. Okay, we've been behind in posting and the news. Delia, what is happening? Hope you feel better soon. Ruby, congrats on your first year with Mom & Dad, time passes quickly, enjoy your very own pan of dressing. Maddox, sounds like you have been very helpful to Karen helping to take care of the new pups, maybe there are some extra biscuits hidden somewhere. Hope all of my friends are doing okay and looking forward to some extra treats tomorrow. Mom is cooking and I'll be staying close to her, hehe..We are getting heavy rains and winds right now; temps in the 50's but will be dropping later to the 30's, doesn't look like much deck time for me today. Better run, Mom has a long list things to do and I have to supervise so she stays on schedule.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • :-) What workhorses, I mean Frenchie dogs...and those poor guys out in that cold...but then I remember getting up in the dark mornings trenching through cold knee high snow to get to my barn to feed and clean stalls for my horses...and I enjoyed it!
Maddox and Ruby girl I'm alright, thanks for thinking of me... it was just a dumb accident, my right foot was asleep and I got up to make some tea, when I was dragging my sleeping leg...I told hubby I feel like one of those monsters walking like this and then my shoe didn't move but my ankle did...I fainted because of the pain(same leg & ankle)as before..I fainted then as well. So much for that stupidity! :-(
My youngest daughter and her boyfriend with my sister will come tomorrow, including grandog Shizu Annie. I always enjoy having them here.
So may ALL of my friends here have a Warm, Loving Thanksgiving! God is good, and I'm Thankful!
Kitty wishes all her Gato buddies and doggie buddies a happy turkey or ham filled day tomorrow ;-)
    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • Good morning ladies,
Your talents never cease to amaze me! The wisteria are sure to be beautiful.
Mimi talked to the butcher yesterday and he is going to cut a turkey in half for us. That means the house will smell great after all.
Ruby , it's hard to imagine that it has been a year! You've had a few adventures and learned a lot of lessons (like how to find your way home). You do have a lot to be thankful for. Mama Delia, we will be sending our best wishes your way.
    Great turkey day to all!
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hello Everybody:
Sorry we haven't been posting, our internet was down for a couple of days (somebody dug up the main line by accident, whatever happened to call before you dig?). We want to wish all our friends a Happy Thanksgiving - have lots of turkey and dressing and a great day, whatever your plans are. Our Thanksgiving was back in October, so tomorrow is just another day for us. We got snow last night - about an inch, so everything looks very pretty and snow covered at the moment. It will probably all melt away soon, but for now we are out there sliding and jumping in the snow. Riley was outside this morning and came to the door with a faceful of snow, Mom wouldn't let him in until he shook it all off! Martha loves the snow, especially if you are shovelling it and throwing it up in the air, she runs over so it all falls on her head, and then barks her fool head off. Of course she has taught this game to Riley and myself, and we all think its great - three of us, barking our fool heads off - don't the neighbours just love us!
Anyways, gotta go, everyone have a great day tomorrow, we'll be with you in spirit, if nothing else! Love and Beardie Bounces, Martha, Miz Lu and Riley boy!

  • Hi Y'all and Happy Thanksgiving!
Ahhhhh, I can smell the Wisteria now! This is going to be a beautiful place once it's finished girls. And I sure love a girl that can handle big machinery Francesca! WoooooHoooooo!!!!!
Kitty, you need to sit tight on Delia to protect her from herself. I hope you're up and around by tomorrow. Ruby, let me know how the dressing is/was! Mis won't let us have stuff like that. Something about delicate tummies. RIGHT! George scarfed some peanut squares down the other night before Mis could stop him. They were in his reach so he decided to have dessert. Didn't offer me not one! She had to leave right after that for a her brother-in-laws' birthday dinner. George, of course having ate all that sugar proceeded to redecorate. Of course, after all that carnage, while she was picking up and vacuuming he went and got his rope toy and started gnawing on it like a good little pup. (Little TWERP!) Mis has about forgotten all the bad things I've done. That's the one good thing about having him here. I'm the GOOD DOG now!!!
Everyone have a great Thanksgiving and keep in mind Bloat Day Friday (great one Zoe) when you go for that extra helping of pie!
    Dixie Boy

  • Happy Pre-Thanksgiving everyone! Brrrrrr! It's frigid here in Chicago. This morning it was 16 degrees out! Kirby Bear I know you, Missy Chow, Maddow, and G.K. would love this weather.

Delia please rest up and no more fainting spells OK?

Don't over stuff yourselves tomorrow everyone. Please pass along to other humans that their fur buddies get cold too and need cute jackets and sweaters to stay warm.
