Visiting A Thoroughbred Farm

Posted by F&S

This past weekend was a busy one for us Frenchies.  There's always so much to do and see with Martha and Uncle Carlos.  One very enjoyable thing we did was to visit Edition Farm in Hyde Park, New York.  This is a beautiful horse farm where thoroughbreds are raised.

All of the barns have a fly eradication system that really works. To keep it safe for staff and animals, the system uses a chrysanthemum base. We didn't see one fly!

  • Good morning everyone,
What a beautiful horse farm. Those horses were really in good shape. It seems like you girls really enjoyed yourselves.
I got behind on things and didn't get to post yesterday but I am caught up now.
Baby Favor, Jan, the lady that shows GK saw your mom at her Shar Pei Specialty in New Mexico not too long ago. What is your mom's website? Chloe Chiweenie, how is your tail?
I am glad that Riley is doing well at training classes and that he and Lucy and Martha had a good Thanksgiving. And speaking of that, I give thanks that our good buddy Kirby is better. I hope you get even more sight back in your eye. Kitty, I didn't read anything more about your limping so I hope that is all gone. James Dean, did you read a novel while Abby was away at the horse place? If so, what did you read? Zoe, Zoe, Zoe, I hope the bruise is gone on your mom's arm. She knows you get riled up and didn't mean to hurt her. Now, when they bring the new carpet, try to remember that they are there to help with the decorating. They are not there to cause any problems. Hehehehehehehe Rebel, I hope Mimi has a safe trip and that she has a good time with her friend. I am sure you and Papa will do man things around the house. Brutus and Max, you should just run onto that movie set while they are filming. Then they would have to pay you as extras. Big money. Chewy, sounds like you are really busy at the farm helping to get things ready for Winter. Good work Chewy. Chloe, any new encounters of the smelly kind? Hope not. Dixie Boy, when you are supervising George, duct tape him to a chair till you hear Miz coming. Then release him and she will think you did a wonderful job keeping him out of trouble. You should see if you can get the duct tape in bulk. Hehehehehehehe Dudley my little buddy, how are things with you? I guess everyone is raking leaves right now. Is that what you are doing Missy Chow? Ruby, did you get enough snow yet to make a snow dog?
Well, I am going to get some deck time in. I hope everyone has a real good day today seeing as how it s hump day.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Hello Girls & all my Glue Squad Buddies,
Oh wow, what a place to visit in Hyde Park, girls. You are quite lucky. Those horses are very beautiful. Their coats are so shiny and silky. That is one thing that isn't in my kingdom, although we have horse property. One question I have for all the horse fans and owners, is to explain something. You see, where I go for my walks often is called Open Space and it is a lake and has paths. People take their dogs for walks, some ride a bike, some roller blade, some people are often painting on easels in the grass area, and then there is a special horse area to bring their horses in by truck, or they can walk them from near by houses. My question is this---Mom and Dad have to clean up my little gems I leave along the grass or path, but the horses parents never do clean up after them. And they leave giant poops. I like to look at horses, but not their poop. I don't understand this one. Anyway, they are pretty to look at, even if their poop isn't.

I am excited for you Zoe, on the office remodel. Maybe it will soon be a spa-office, deluxe indeed. If there is new carpet you can do carpet angels. Believe me, this is great fun, and quite relaxing. We had a nice walk in the neighborhood yesterday, checking out all the beauty of Fall. It has even been snowing a few flurries here and there. Nothing yet to do snow angels though. I am getting excited.

Everyone have a GEM of a Fall day.

    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Good Morning F & S

    It's HUMP DAY :)

F & S I can't believe all those people sat there at ate in front of you!!! And I agree no seat?? There were a few empty - the nerve........ So did Martha make any purchases? Any new horses coming to the farm? I think she should buy a pony for the grandkids to ride I'm sure they would love that :)

Maddox my mom still has the bruise on her arm but the holes have healed. The color is now changing from black to green and yellow.

Skunk scare at our house last night. The smell was so bad we had to close all the windows - those things are just gross!! Good thing we all went out and did our bedtime business before the smell hit mom would have been freaking out.

Well dad is still snoozing I think I'll go join him :)

    Zoe

  • Morning Girls & Glue Squad Buddies-Bet you sure had fun at the horse farm. Such beautiful grounds and the horses are so majestic. Not fair, they should have had two more places set for you girls. I must say your EQ pictures were wonderful, both of you look great. Helping with the leaves in yesterday's post was fun to watch. Sharkey, your position up on the Fernando's shoulders, so cute :) . Dad did some landscaping yesterday too, lots of leaves and more to drop. This will be non stop for a few more weeks.
Ruby, when is landscaping season over??? Kirby, great news on your eyes, keeping my paws crossed. Rebel, hope Mimi has fun on her trip, she will be back before you know it, but you will have fun with Papa. Zoe, you can supervise when the new rug is installed. Maddox, I usually supervise the raking of the leaves but Dad is still mowing & mulching them so I just watch for now. Got to run, Mom needs to check her mail too. Hi to all my friends & buddies.
PS-it's girl's day-Dad had to go to a different location for work today..so maybe we will have c/c time later.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, You two sweet girls certainly were lucky to be able to go to that great Thoroughbred Farm at Edition Farm at Hyde Park, New York! The weather was so nice for you to see that lovely farm with colorful flowers and handsome horses! Those barns were also great and very healthy for the horses! How fun it was that you got to meet Vivien Malloy and the others at the farm! Would have been fun to see Martha, Uncle Carlos, and GK in these photos, also! Hope you have another great day! Maddox, how fun it was to finally read such a great bunch of comments from you and you certainly do a great job commenting about all of our buddies! I've been very busy visiting with all of our relatives who are living with us and enjoy the attention they give me! One of them is supposed to leave by Friday and that will give us more space to move around! I do all I can to help Mom! Can't wait to hear from the rest of you buddies! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Oh boy, my favorite subject; equines. I just live all kinds of them. We have plenty of horse farms around here. Over is South Carolina, about twenty miles from my house, is where the winner of the KD, for this year, lives. I told you we have plenty of horse farms here. One bad thing happened, the stables had a fire and lost some of the buildings. All the horses were rescued; none hurt. I’m still doing all right and looking forward to becoming 12 years old. Love that day because I get to go to McDonalds and have one of those small cones; not the kind you put on your head but in your belly. Hehehehehe
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Wow Maddox, when you catch up on things you REALLY catch up!! Mom's business is called The Blissful Dog Boutique; it doesn't have a website but it does have a Facebook page. If the name The Blissful Dog sounds familiar it is because mom is partners with my and Francesca Baby's FirstMama and SHE has the business by that name that makes the great stuff called Nose Butter that works so good on dry crusty Frenchie (and other) noses.
That farm looks beautiful, Francesca Baby, I am envious that you got to see so many beautiful horses all in one place! Who'd have thought that back when we lived in Pinewood and had Nykker as a friend that you'd become such the equine expert!
Well, Mom has to get ready to go to work a people show so I have to get off and supervise!
    A bientot!!

  • :-) Oh what a great Thoroughbred Farm...and what awesome looking horses. I love it when they have Farm gatherings or open house. I use to go to many in my time of breeding Arabian horses.
Looks like you Frenchie girls had a great time together (tied together as well) Sharkey sorry for not getting it right yesterday, just too many thoughts at one time.
Yes Maddox, Kitty is doing better, thanks for asking...I believe she has had scrapes with that Black cat, it's hanging around a great deal :-(
Will be going car shopping, so must get ready for that...sure don't want to spend this kind of money, but have to...good thing we get Veterans and Employee discounts.
    Have a Good Day everyone!
    delia & Kitty =^, ,^=

  • Hello Francesca, Sharkey, Maddox, glue squad buddies,
Such wonderful pictures of a beautiful horse farm. Exceptionally nice horses, barns, fly prevention system, etc. Hyde Park, NY is close to where Abby and Mom go to work in the Hudson River Valley.
I am busy reading critical essays on The Great Gatsby.
Abby is trying to cheer up Mom who spent a whole morning getting new tires and shocks too. Busy, busy week working before she goes up to Massachusettes for the weekend!
Maddox, we are really behind on the news, thanks for catching us up. Hey, Zoe, its Hump day like your favorite camel commercial.
Kitty and Black Mama, there is a new non-alcoholic cat wine out today in the news. Mom said the grape juice and catnip is toxic to cats...
Did anyone else laugh about the kangaroo in the airport pharmacy???? Abby said to give hugs to all her buddies. Off to read more.. purrrs,
James Dean the persian boy cat

  • ..you little guys get to go visit a lot of interesting places...don't know anything about horses..don't think I ever saw one in the shelter..though, I am getting to know about deer and elk!...hear we are burning brush today..so I better pop on my orange vest and get out there and supervise..there is a lot to being a farm/ranch dog!..over and out, love, Chewy

  • Beautiful and lush indeed! :)

How nifty about the fly system. I'm guessing the horsies don't have to wear those masks?

I think F&S need to 'saddle' up next to someone and maybe you'll get a few morsels of food! :)

    Happy Wednesday..
    gail
