Vegetables Galore!

Posted by F&S

Yesterday, we Frenchies got a phone call from Ryan, the gardener, asking us to drive the Kawasaki to the vegetable garden, where he was picking.  He said he could really use a little help.  Boy!  He wasn't kidding!

Sharkey, this is a large quantity of assorted varieties of eggplant. Eggplant is delicious grilled, in parmesan, moussaka, ratatouille, and baba ganoush.

Ryan, there seem to be many peppers for the picking. I know you planted both hot and sweet varieties.

Wow, the zucchini looks really nice this week.

Franny, Ryan put the large zucchinis in a separate container. This size is good to hollow out and stuff or shred and bake something yummy.

Sharkey, some of these big ones will also be cut up and fed to the chickens. They like most vegetables and it's very healthy for their diet.

OK, Ryan. All of the vegetables are loaded up, so let's transport them to the house so Martha can check out the bounty.

Wow! That's a lot of tomatoes and most of them are heirloom varieties. There are so many wonderful tomato recipes and I know these will all be put to good use.

  • We are betting that farm would go to heck in a basket if it wasn't for you Frenchies. Of course that basket would be full of vegys....hahahahaha. Mom really likes the picture of you two in the Kawasaki with Ryan. She keeps on looking over our shoulders whispering "nice abs". We tried to tell her you are Frenchies, but she just has this look. Humans.......
    Thank goodness she finally left!
So it's Friday the 13th Squadders...beware! We are going to stick close to home.
The temps and humidity is finally dropping so we might just have a day out on the patio. It's about time. There's a oouple nice looking girl-dogs who walk down the bike trail and we are certain they miss us.
We hope everyone in Glue Squad land has a great weekend.
    Keep the faith, dudes!
    Pugs and kisses,
    Brutus and Max

  • Wow, what a haul! I bet those veggies would make a most delicious soup!

I don't know what is more hunky...Ryan or those large zukes! :)

Happy Friday to all the gluey's..

  • Good morning ladies,
Wow. Lots of very healthy looking veggies. I like veggies. Good job Ryan. I am sorry but I have to run. Going on a ride today. Car is waiting.
I will try to get back on later

  • Good Morning F & S

Happy Friday!! And this 13th stuff doesn't scare me it's just another number. All your veggies look great and Ryan isn't too bad looking either :) I wish I could drive a Kawasaki that looks like lots of fun. I'd be racing all around the farm.

So the weekend is here and you would think that means lots of time with mom - NOT! She is golfing tomorrow and going to the Eagles game on Sunday. That means a few hours late tomorrow afternoon and then a few hours Sunday afternoon. The woman is crazy - her tailgate party starts at 8 am and the game starts at 1. She is leaving the house to pick up the food trays at 7:15 - excuse me did you forget it's Sunday which is Zoe Funday???? All I can say is that she better not leave any bathroom doors open - I feel TP rage in my system ;)

    Have a great weekend everyone!!

    Zoe

  • Morning Girls,
You girls look like you helped Ryan out a lot. The veggies look wonderful. And Zoe, Ryan has nothing on my GK ;) Anyway... mom's garden didn't do that great this year. And after two years of trying I finally got in there. Mom wasn't to happy because I ate the trellis that her beans were growing up on and all the bell peppers. And of course I had to dig a few holes and pull some other things out of the ground. :) All in the day of a husky. :)

So, it's suppose to be nice and cool this weekend here in NJ so I am hoping mom works in the yard so I can help ;) She said she has lots to do and she wants to do some canning. She has two big boxes full of tomatoes on the kitchen table. I think she might be painting too. Maybe I'll give her a helping hand with the painting too ;)

Well, off for a nap before Uncle Mark gets here. He is finishing the bathroom today.
Might have to be extra "helpful" today.

Have a great day and a wonderful weekend everyone <3

    Love
    Chloe xx

  • What a haul! Love the photos of Ryan with the Frenchies and all of those colourful veggies in buckets.

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
Wow and double wow Batman, or Frenchies and Ryan. The harvest is certainly bountiful. Love seeing you drive the Kawasaki---so cool. Mom says that you all make Apple Cider from all the apples. I can hardly wait to see that. Now we are still in the midst of Noah's Ark here in Colorado--about a half hour drive from us in Boulder, it is terrible. They saved many pets--the Army and their big trucks to the rescue. Yahoooooo!!!
I only wish I knew how to get the flood waters to the New Jersey Boardwalk. OMG, I think Mother Nature has a virus causing her to do all this goofy stuff. Prayers and hugs to all in this disasters.
Dixie Boy and George, please tell Mis I am so happy her "c" monster test came back good. And Dudley, hope those fleas are gone and the teeth get better soon. Remember, Turkey Stew is the heal all for anything. You will be butt vrooming in no time. Abby, way to go celebrating Jimmy's 6th birthday I hear. Have you been to the Duck Park lately? Missy Chow, Chloe, Zoe, Martha, Lucy, Kitty,Baby Favor, Abby and all my other gal pals, any suggestions on how to overcome the fear of rain? Mom and Dad are doing what Ceasar says and taking me for walks in the rain. Now, I hear talk of special dog boots. Riley, Kirby, Maddox,Chewy, Brutus, Max, Dixie Boy, George, Rebel, Dudley,Jimmy, have fun watching all the football games this weekend. To everyone and all those my goofy Ruby Gem brain forgot, have a GEM of a weekend. Glue Squad rules forever.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Good morning ladies & Ryan,
That is a load of veggies! They should last all winter long!
Mimi wants to throw in her admiration of Ryan, too. What's the big deal? I have a great belly, winning smile and 4 great legs.
Hey, Zoe girl, I don't want to read about TP all over the house. Do like I do, just curl up in a closet and fall deep asleep, then you can be up all night long snooping around the house without being watched!
Friday the 13th? Well it's Eli's 10th birthday today. There will be cake and ice cream at our house and that's all I care about, for sure.....Little Rebekah is sure to slip me a treat.
    Everybody have a great weekend.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, OMG! How great that Ryan asked you two sweet girls to drive the Kawasaki over to the garden area to load up those delicious looking vegetables he was collecting! You both look so awesome in these photos and Ryan looks so happy to get your help again! What do you get to do next?! Bet you will have even more fun! Is GK in more Dog Shows now?! Can't wait to see him again and please hug him and Martha for me! Sure hope you have a great weekend! How fun to hear from Brutus and Max, Gail, Maddox, Zoe, Chloe, Angela, and Ruby so far this morning and hope to hear from all the rest of you real soon! I will be back to read all of your comments and more of those from the rest of this week! I am finally feeling a lot better and wish you all a great weekend! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • :-) Ryan the veggie guy does a great job...and a great photo of the three of you! ;-)

Ruby if you decide to get booties, have mama Lynn take a photo of you...wish I could see you walk the first time, you'll look like a parade horse lifting your feet.
Today it's cool brrrrrr, but still sunny and nice.
Veggie soup sounds good for a day like this. I have lots of veggies in the frig, home grown by a friend.

Have a great day everyone! :-)

    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • Hi Y'all,
You girls are looking pretty good there on the Kawasaki. I like girls who take charge and work until the job is done! Mis said to ring in with the rest of the women and tell Ryan that he's looking pretty good too! I just don't understand. I'm the man in her life. Geeezzz, women!
Another day of moderate heat but less humidity. WhoooHoooo!! It's coming, It's coming. It's hard to wait!! Ruby, take care. Mis tried that walking in the rain and sprinklers approach with me. Sorry to say that it didn't really do any good. I don't seem to notice it though when I go into prey-drive. Mis, of course isn't happy then, but hey, that's who I am. One thing that still keeps me trembling and beside Mis are thunderstorms, of which we had a mighty one last night. George, of course isn't bothered by them and tries to play with me. Stupid George, don't you know you have to be still and quite so the lighting can't find you?!!! He's so hard headed. Mis says he's a lot like me when I first got here. Hummmppphhh! She said yesterday that I had become very serious and uptight about everything and that George was the silly goof now. She wants me to relax. Maybe when George grows up!
I wish everyone a great weekend. I'm going to be spending it under my favorite tree where I can watch everyone coming and going.
    Have a Doggy Good Day,
    Dixie Boy

  • Hello Francesca,Sharkey, Ryan and all my glue squad buddies,
What great vegetables!! Quite a colorful, healthy harvest! So nice of the frenchie girls to work hard to help out Ryan with the vegetables. We were surprised to see so many kinds of eggplants.
I cannot wait for the pumpkins!!!
Dudley, so very glad my dear friend is feeling better. Rebel, good idea about taking a nap and Happy 10th Birthday to Eli!!!
Maddox, where did you ride off to??? Nice to have a mini road trip. Chloe, did you really dig holes in the garden??? Kitty, my finest persian purrs to you. Black Mama, hope you and the feral cats have lots of catnip and rodent treats this weekend. Ruby, why are you so afraid of rain? We had FIVE thunderstorms yesterday, so glad the sun is out today.
Zoe, maybe you can have your own Eagles tailgate party with dog biscuits and t.p. streamers.
Mom is running in a road race on Sunday, big crowd. In the beginning everyone has to walk because there are so many people... she likes this September Classic race.
I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend, off to read my E.B.White biography....
James Byron Dean the persian cat boy

  • Oh my, those vegetables look wonderful! Great job growing them, Ryan, and thanks Francesca and Sharkey for sharing this with us.

    Angela

  • Hi Girls, Ryan & Glue Squad - Wow..all those fresh veggies look so good. Just think all of them could be cooked for a fresh veggie stir fry, cut up into a garden salad, veggie omelette, yum...there I go thinking about food. Both of you look so comfy sitting with Ryan, I'm sure he really appreciates all your help. Well, Mom had her appointment at the "groomers" today...hehe...she says she needed a new look, she doesn't look different to me ;) . Ruby, wish I had an answer for you, but I'm not fond of wet grass, mention a walk in the rain, well, that could be different story. Abby, sorry about your team last night, James Dean, it was a tough game, right?? But we did it 2-0!! Nice to hear from the Chiweenies yesterday, Rebel, sounds like a party at your house today, have fun! Chloe, helping Uncle Mark again, be good, remember what happened last time. Hi to all my buddies, hope everyone has a nice weekend, it's suppose to be cooler. Deck & patio time for me. Dr. Pia, many thanks for your post yesterday. We shall never forget, least our furry friends who also helped with search, rescue & recovery.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • ..wow..veggies galore..ours get eaten by the deer and all the critters before we can harvest hem..Lucinda says that is okay..critters have to eat, too..everybody sounds busy..I, the naughty Chewy, am learning to walk on a leash (yuk) and come when called (double yuk)..I want to be wild and free..but if it takes all this to be part of the group, you can be I'll do it...now this eating thing, I grew up on table scrapes and garbage..so adjusting my eating habits is a little tricky..Ruby, I like your turkey stew..saw a case of it in the kitchen and a sack of dry food..warrior prince cookies, who knew those yummy things existed!!..Flying the Seahawk flag, these people are goofy...gotta go see what Black Mama is doing..over and out, Chewy

  • Sharkey I hope no cops pull you over for speeding. Good to see you having a fun time, get those veggies collected and make sure Franny helps you decide which ones will go to Martha.
