When the Dogs are Away, the Cat Will Play!

Posted by F&S

Surprise!  It's not F & S, but Vivaldi!  Martha is in Maine and took Francesca, Sharkey, and G.K. with her, so I decided to have a little fun and post today's blog.  Won't they be surprised when they get around to reading this!  Of course, that is if they can pull themselves away from all the fun they must be having.

It certainly is quiet around the farm when all three dogs are in Maine with Martha. I don't have to listen to the Frenchies incessant chattering and I can sleep wherever I want without being disturbed.

Although, I have to admit that I am feeling just a bit lonely. Perhaps I'll take a stroll around the terrace garden.

Oh, I see that Martha's Formosa lilies are blooming. I bet the Frenchies will be sore when they see this blog posting and how they're missing out on these amazing blooms.

If Sharkey were here, I bet she'd be prattling on about how the Latin name is Lillium formosum and how they originated in Taiwan.

I can practically hear Francesca chiming in with how they can reach upwards of 7-feet tall and typically have 8 to 10 flowers per stem!

They might even go as far as to mention that lilies are toxic to pets, especially cats. Even the pollen is toxic and if a cat has any on his or her fur, he or she should be given a bath immediately.

Well, I don't much care for baths so I'm outta here! Time for another nap!

  • Hello Vivaldi!
We all need some "alone" time, don't we? Seems to be nice and peaceful there on the farm.
Our weekend was quiet. However, our human brother, Gideon and his family had a fright. They arrived home from camping on Sunday and discovered a 4 foot black snake in the rafters of their basement! Gideon called Dad and our other human brother Gabriel to come help remove the snake. Gabe and his wife Heather have a pet snake (pet snake? yikes) so they were not frightened at all. With everyones help the black snake now has a new home. We don't know where but we are sure it is far, far away from that house!
We enjoy all the animals running around our little patch of heaven, but we don't want any snakes!
Hope all the Glue Squaders had a great weekend and an even better week ahead.
    Pugs and kisses!

  • Hello Vivaldi,
That was very nice of you to help out with the DW while the girls and GK are in Maine. Thank you Vivaldi. And I did not know that lilies are toxic to pets. That is good to know. I was thinking, I wonder how humans figure out that certain plants are toxic to pets. Well, Glue Squad,, what did everyone do over the weekend? I am anxious to here from my buddies. Right now, I am going back to bed. Rain here No deck. I will take a nap and dream that I am on the deck. Hehehehehehehe
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • What a nice surprise, Vivaldi at the helm! :)

When the dogs are away, the kitties will play and blog!

Vivaldi looks so comfy loafin' on those stone slabs with the warm sun warming his tum tum! :)

You did an excellent job on blogging today!

  • :-) Uh-Uh-Uh Vivaldi what fun to hear from you!!! ;-) we have some new felines in our group, have you noticed? Enjoying the outdoors without the threesome pups bothering you must be fun. So, you and the rest of the cats in the house will roam at ease...just leave the Canaries alone!!!
While the dogs are away the cats will play!
    Have Fun :-)

  • Well Good Morning Vivaldi

Look at you thinking you are king of the farm - enjoy your rest because they will all be home before you know it.

What a stinky weekend - mom kept cleaning trying to get rid of the skunk smell and I just laid around and watched. It was beautiful outside but she couldn't stand the smell even after the rugs and furniture were all cleaned. I told T-Bone the next time he decides to play with one of those black kitties with the white strip his butt is outta here. I'm going to look for the gun and shoot the skunk and him!!! I can't stand the smell!!!

Mom is heading to the beach today with her sisters. My Aunt rented a house and mom is going for 2 days. We are all staying home with Dad he doesn't like the beach.

Well I think I'll go watch Mom pack the car and try to make her feel guilty for not taking me ;)

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Well Daddy didn’t go out early this morning so I can use the computer today. He said it was too hot already. I guess the heat gets to these old folks. Hehehehe I’d better what I say about him; he’s looking at me very sternly now. Soooooo, the cats are out lounging in the sun while the dogs are away. Seems like a good thing to do. Mommies cat often lounges on the wall out front where I can see him. Boy I would like a chance at chasing him; just one time is all I ask for. But, that will never happen. I am being watched too closely when he is around. I think I will have a nap and dream about chasing him.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi Vivaldi, You sure do look handsome in all of these photos and since I love cats, it was so great to see a blog presented by you! It would have been such a fun time to be there with you! Thanks for showing us Martha's beautiful Formosa lilies and thanks for the information about why to stay away from them and I wouldn't want a bath either! Are F,S,&GK back home today? Please say Hi to them for me! Sure hope to hear from all of you great buddies very soon and hope you had a great weekend! We had lightning and thunder and a bit of rain and it got dry and warmer as the weekend went by! I did get to help Mom do some work inside and outside again! Hope you all have fun! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Good morning Vivaldi & all my Glue Squad Buddies,
What fun to have a post from you this morning. You look very handsome indeed. So brushed and fluffy. You are quite informed, just like the girls. I never knew Lilies were toxic, not that I eat them, only sunflower leaves, but Mom has hundreds. Myself and the landscape crew will definitely stay away. How was the weekend for everyone? I, had a fantastic weekend, until this morning hit and I was discovered. More on that problem in a bit. The weekend was fun as I supervised the hanging back up of all the wall things---114 to be exact. The folks have a looong wall upstairs that is the Wall of Fame. It has 37 years of the family photos. What was cool in hanging them back up, was I got to see all the family dogs before me---5 to be exact. A very cool group I must say. Now for my problem. Last night when it was raining for about an hour I had to pee, well the urge hit and it was raining and then I piddled on the new carpet. Never thought I would be discovered, but this darn new carpet is so soft, that everyone goes barefoot. Mom discovered it this morning and then Dad carried me to the wet lawn. I am ashamed and Mom and Dad thought I was over it as Dad has been walking me in the rain and to do my business. It just happened. If anyone has ANY suggestions please tell me and Mom, as I don't like this to happen, it just does. Have a GEM of a day.
    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Hello Vivaldi and all the GS buddies:
It certainly looks like you were having a wonderful time snoozing in the sun while everyone was away! Such peace and quiet!
This is Riley and I would like to thank everyone for their birthday wishes - I had a great birthday - we had cake, pizza (I probably had more than just one piece!)and got a special brand new chewie just for me! Miz Lu only stole it once and when I started barking furiously she did give it back. We also got a box of greenies - these are Miz Lu's favourite so she was happy as well. Martha is happy with anything so she took her greenie and disappeared to eat it in peace. We all went in the car to a park which is mostly only used in the week for soccer games and it was totally empty. Mom let us off leash and we ran around like crazy dogs until we were exhausted. Everyone slept really well on Saturday night and it was a very good birthday! Don't you wish everyday could be your birthday? Mom says it wouldn't be special then, but I disagree. Ah well, until next year ......
Love and beardie bounces to all, Riley boy, Miz Lu and Martha.

  • OMG!!! Soo funny this blog!!! Great!!!

  • Power to the CATS!!!!! Meow hear me roar!
Great to see you Vivaldi! We loved seeing you sunning out on the warm stones and the Formosa lilies are so pretty. We have a pink Magic Lily outside the kitchen window that just pops up to bloom all of a sudden.
Dudley, it is so nice that you love cats. We love you too our glue squad buddy.
Riley, Happy Belated Birthday!! The park running sounded like fun too. You made your own dog park for a day.
The Mom doe and twin baby fawns are crossing our lawn right now. Good thing Abby is snoozing.
Ruby, que pasa?????? Missy Chow, hope you are getting ready for The Boys of October since our Sox are doing well in Boston.
Purrrs and purrrs to Kitty, Black Mama, Guinness, Fuzzy Butt, Vivaldi and my cat crew-
