Maine! Yup, yours truly got to go to Moosehead Lake Maine! Personally I think they should call it Minnow Lake, but I'm not one to make a fuss...

Moosehead Lake is a super special place! It's the largest lake in Maine- 40 miles long! And just 3 hours south of Quebec Canada!

But the specialist part about it is that my mama- Dr. Pia- spent every summer there until she was about 25... that's even older in dog years!

This was mom's first time back on Moosehead Lake since then!
I even got to see her drive a boat...

Mom's family went to a place called Sandbar Island every summer- and she says she just loved, loved, loved it!

There is a mountain on the lake- it's called Kineo and mom said her family would look out at it and watch the sun set every night!

It seemed like this place was really important to my mom- sometimes I couldn't tell if she was happy or sad... maybe she was both...

I'm really glad I was able to be there for my mom... to offer moral support and a super soft- but strong- shoulder to lean on!

Mom always brought her cat Seymour up to Maine. Here they are on the front porch when Dr. Pia was little... kinda like me...

On our visit to Sandbar Island, mom and I took a matching picture of the two of us... Not sure why but, I like this one better...

I'd go anywhere with my mom- and I'd do anything for her! After all, she adopted me and we're family!

I could tell mom was having lots of fond memories of her summer's on Moosehead Lake!

I tried to imagine my mom as a kid- running around taking care of all the local creatures! She was really little- like me. Actually, she still is. Mom and me are really similar in lots of ways!

  • Thank you Minnow for that wonderful blog. Sometimes it's nice to re-visit your past. (Sometimes not so nice)
Nothing much happening with us now. The humidity is up so the air is on (thank goodness!). Mom and Dad are both back to work. (bummer)
    Pugs and kisses

p.s. I've tried a couple of times to send Brutus and Maxs' birthdates via the e-mail posted a couple weeks again. Each time it was returned. Please post again. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks in advance. prconger.

It's easy to see that you had a great time there! Your photo #8 looked so much like me and I love you so much and how fun it is to see you with your Mom as often as possible! Sure hope you have a great weekend and hope to see you next week! I forgot to wish our new friend Dixie Boy a happy birthday yesterday and sure hope you had a great time and Mom realized that was why I was being a bad boy that day! She had given me a nice walk the day before, but it was too hot that day! Hope all of you great buddies are doing well! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hello Minnow & Dr. Pia, & all my Glue Squad Buddies,
Love seeing your photos today, all the before and after. Dr. Pia, you should model just like your Mama, but include Minnow---she has a definite modeling career with you. I can see you having the best summers when you were growing up. And now making new memories with Minnow and hubbie. What a fun summer for all? Looking forward to more next week. Have a GEM of a day. Yahoo---first Broncos pre-season game tonight.
    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Hi Everyone,
That is one beautiful place to go on vacation Minnow. Dr. Pia was and is very lucky to have been able to enjoy such great beauty while she was growing up. It certainly helped make her the special person that she is today. I'm sure Minnow and all the other furry critters that she helps would agree!
Ohhh the sunsets!!! and Mis loves the beads you are wearing Minnow. Although, I don't think I could pull that look off. HA Maybe Izzy!
Yesterdays article on the horses pecking order was interesting. We have our own pecking order here and Zeke is Alpha. Sometimes he has me cowering with just a look. It's kinda embarrassing since I'm much larger, but he was here first so I take my place. Mis will sometimes do like Betsey and keep us apart, esp. on days that he gets tweeked. Otherwise we get along great and even go do boy things together.
I love the idea of being naughty for ones birthday. I can pull that off,no problem. Hiking my leg on a boxwood is enough to catch Mis's ire.
Thank you for all the birthday wishes! Mis was away at the beach with her Sis so I stayed with Ray. It was wonderful.
I was all waggle-butt when Mis got home last night but she noticed that I was soooo relaxed. She must stress me! Ha! She went to visit the wild horses that live on the barrier Island in Beaufort, NC.
More later. Mis has got to get back to work today.

  • Hello Everyone - F,S,GK, Dr. Pia & Minnow and all the GS buddies:
We have been off on holidays these past few days and so no computer time for anyone! Its getting hot again after some really nice fresh fall like air, so we'll be inside loving the a/c! The vacation pictures in Maine look amazing, thank you Dr. Pia for sharing with us.
The horse blog was very interesting, and we also agree with Dixie Boy, there is a pecking order in our household as well. Martha is the oldest, but she is so laid back she doesn't want to be the leader. Lucy is the next oldest and she definately is alpha dog! She is bossy extraordinare, and lets everyone know she is in charge. Funny, she is smaller than Martha, but size doesn't seem to matter at all. Riley boy came last, already at one (birthday party coming up this weekend with pizza and cake already in the plans)he is the biggest of them all. He is also very much laid back, but you can see there are turf wars starting between him and Lucy. He only gets really upset when Lucy takes his chewies, and then he will bark furiously until he gets them back. Lucy most of the time doesn't even want them, she just wants to have possession of the article! I don't think he really wants to be alpha, but Lucy gets upset when she perceives her position is being threatened. Who'd of thunk there was such a social order at work here? Anyways, we've got to get going, Mom is back at work and computer time is limited, so we'll check back in tomorrow and tell you of Riley's BD plans!
Love and Beardie bounces, Martha, Miz Lu and Riley boy.
