Rinze's Cooling Shower

Posted by F&S

As stated on Friday's blog, we followed Betsy and Rinze into the stable to see how horses take a shower.  We Frenchies know the importance of good grooming and we were happy to see that the horse's have a bathing regime, as well.

You may recall on Friday's blog when Rinze and Betsy came back from a ride and Rinze was dripping with sweat? Well, that was a brutally hot day and we Frenchies decided to watch the showering off process.

There goes Rinze into the horse shower. I hope Betsy remembers to take his saddle off.

Of course she took his saddle off! So, Betsy, you use a regular hose sprayer with a gentle setting.

This is not a full bath, but a relaxing, daily shower.

Betsy, Rinze is looking at you with such thankful eyes. After a hot and sweaty ride, this is a welcome relief.

Betsy, we're almost tempted to join Rinze in the shower. You use a sweat scraper to remove excess water, right?

You just pass it over the coat like a razor.

The scraper causes all the excess water to drip down and off the horse.

Betsy, now what are you spraying on Rinze's coat?

I see, it's ShowSheen, a hair polish and detangler. This must be why the Friesians look so sleek and healthy all the time. Wow, Betsy, we learned a lot today!

  • Move over Rinze, I want a cool down too! :)

I just love the happy look on Rinze's face! Must feel good after a trot on such a hot day.

The heat and humidity is back here in NH. I can't complain, because in 6 months there will be snow on the ground! :)

    Happy Monday to all

  • Good Morning F & S

Rinze looks like one happy horse getting that cool bath. Betsy takes such good care of the horses they must really love her.

What a weekend! Mom and Dad hosted their granddaughter's 2nd birthday party. We had Cookie Monster and Big Bird decorations all over the house. Lots of balloons and flowers - very festive. Then all the people arrived and some had kids :) Those kids love to feed me which ended up giving me a tummy ache. I wouldn't eat my food all day yesterday I just ate some grass. Too bad they don't make Tums for dogs I could of used a few.

Mom said that is the last party until Labor Day. I don't blame her it's a lot of work then the next day is all the clean up :( Maybe the next time we have a party we can borrower that guy that cooks for Martha's parties?

Ruby great job on taking your first plunge better you than me :)

    Have a great day!

    Zoe

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Martha should bring the horses down here, we’ve has some really cool showers here too. Not much rain yesterday; just a quarter of an inch. But on Saturday, it came down by the bucket full. Had another five inches. They take the “official” measurement at the airport which only showed two inches of rain. They should come to my house and look at the rain gauge out in my front yard. It’s located about 12 miles from the airport so it could rain more here than there. It is beginning to taper off and should stop in a day or two. Then the sun will come out and it will be in the upper 90’s. It seems that I just can’t win this summer. I’ll just stay inside where it is cool and cause problems. I do that when I can’t go outside; drives them crazy. Hehehehehe
    Catch you later, Kirby

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
You hot tamale girls look like you need a shower too, it is so hot. Lucky Rinze having such a nice cool down shower. I never knew you had to get the water off with a scraper. Like me and a towel. Gail, I wish it was hot here, not humid, but hot. I have decided I like swimming in a cool lake on a hot day, but not walking on wet grass in the rain. Four days of rain in the evenings and I decided to piddle in the house---not a good thing, I know, but I just don't like the rain and thunder. At first, the folks thought I had health issues, but it is the rain and thunder. Do any of you experience this problem? I know the Chows don't like wet, but I am a lab, with a middle name of scardey cat. It was another girls' weekend here with the guys working on Weston's renovations. Zoe, I bet you and your folks are tired, but happy from the party. Better go see Mom off to therapy and then nap time. Anxious to hear of everyones weekends. Have a GEM of a day.
    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, OMG! You two beautiful girls sure did look over heated in some of these photos and glad you went into the stable to watch Rinze get showered to cool him off, too! Bet you would have enjoyed that cooling shower, but being in a cooler place helped anyway! Betsy sure did a great job cooling handsome Rinze and he looked so relaxed! We are having a bit warmer weather in the 80s but not as hot as you have in the 90s! Stay cool and hug GK for me! Gail, hope you stay as cool as possible with your hot area! Zoe, you sure had a fun weekend except for over eating and getting a stomach ache! Hope you are feeling better! Kirby, sure hope you get some better weather real soon! That amount of rain can be awful! Ruby, I can understand why you hate the rain and pottied in the house at your age because I used to do that when I was very young, also! I'm much better now and do go out in the rain and find a place under a leafy tree to potty! Hope your Mom is doing better and give her a hug from me! Will check back later! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Good morning ladies,
This post makes Mimi remember her horsey days. She says she can smell the tack room and the barn. I think that Rinze looks so much happier at bath time than I do. I wonder if Mimi's crumb scraper upper thing could work as a scraper on me? NOT! Just joking!
We had a really nice, quiet & relaxing weekend. Even though it's hot today, I just might take a little snooze in the sun on the patio.
    Have a great day everybody.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • I'm glad to see that the horses are so well taken care of in the bad heat. We have been lucky so far not to have too bad of heat, which is a very good thing. Especially this last weekend when we all went and worked the Kissing Booth for French Bulldog Rescue Network at Bastille Days. Whew, we are all pretty tired today-- we raised a lot of money for FBRN!! And then Sunday was Millie's birthday, so people who gave a little donation got some cake to help her celebrate. It was FUN!!!
    A bientot!

  • F & S you girls look sooo hot! and Betsy aren't you hot with that rimmed helmet?
My horses loved being bathed it sure was a workout doing the larger horses. I did a webpage on my horses in my life ;-) if anyone cares to take a look, you can also comment http://www.squidoo.com/horses-in-my-life
Ruby dear have your mommie Lynn look up Cesar for this problem, maybe you can view a video on this...Kitty sleeps through the thunder and lightning...last week we had a lighting strike right in the backyard I saw the flash hit the ground, and Kitty ran to the door to come in.
    Today hot and humid...yuck :-(
Zoe I use to give my horses the pink stuff (like Malox) and it helped, maybe you can take some
You all have a great Monday (had to look on the calendar to find out it was Monday...oh retirement! ;-)

    delia & Kitty =^6^=

  • Admit it ladies, you love Rinze's shower because why should you two be the only ones to suffer the indignities of bath time.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It's back to hot again, supposed to get up to the nineties. The heat wouldn't be bad but it's the humidity that's the killer. Have a great day everyone!

    p.s. Zoe there's you're new invention-doggie TUMS. You'll make a fortune.

  • Hello all!!!!!
Rinze sure did look happy in that shower. Betsy does a great job!
It is horrible here in southwestern Ohio. Temps in the 90's all week and no rain in sight. And, of course, the county fair is this week. Hope they take good care of all the animals and keep they cool.
Zoe, I, Max, knows what it is like to eat and eat and then the tummy hurts. Mom gets mad when I throw up on her bed.
Ruby, sometimes when there is someone or something strange on the front porch and they won't go away when I tell them over and over to (I bark a lot) I get so darn mad that I tinkle in the house. Mom isn't happy about that either.
And we all know that I, Brutus, does NOT like the thunder and lightening. Don't mind the rain and I love the snow, but that thunder gets to me every time.
Must be off Mom is baking zucchini bread and the house is smelling great...maybe there's a crumb or too for us!
    Pugs and kisses!
    Brutus and Max

  • ..hi all my glue squad buddies..sounds like everybody had a busy weekend..we did, too...the bar-b-que was great..Lucinda got in the river with all the dogs and played..the Chiweenies had their vests on..Ivan and Ivanks swam like salmon..the big bulldogs sat on a blanket and watched and ate warrior prince cookie..me and my tribe lurked around in the bushes and watched..then we got all the leftover steak..all the doggies got goodie bags for later..warrior prince cookies and chew toys..I think I saw a tear in Lucindas eye....must get outdoors..later, love, Black Mama
