Look! Up In The Sky!

Posted by F&S

I was startled yesterday when I looked up at the sky.  I couldn't imagine what I was seeing.  Obviously, Sharkey had done some research because she told me all about it.

Sharkey, come and have a look at this! I think we're being visited by a UFO!

Franny, I'll just go to my favorite wall perch to see what you're looking at.

I know what that is! It's not a UFO, it's a blimp! It's just odd to see it flying over our farm.

  • I love blimps! :)

I'm originally from California and during the summer in the mid to late 1970's the Good Year Blimp would fly overhead and show nifty graphics on the side of the blimp.

    Happy Tuesday!

  • Good morning everyone,
That was neat, seeing the blimp fly over your house, wasn't it girls? I would like to take a ride in a blimp. Oh oh, or how about a hot air balloon? That would be awesome. Too bad GK wasn't with you to see it. He would have tried to jump up to catch it. I know I would.
Well, how are all the sick people on the list? I hope everyone is doing better. It is a nice cool breeze this morning. I guess you all know what that means, heading to the deck.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Good Morning F & S

I have to say a blimp is one ugly means of transportation. The only good thing is that there is a dog on the outside and not a furball :)

I see you both like to sit on top of the table isn't that the best? It's especially great when someone walks away from their food ;)

It was a hot one here yesterday then the storms arrived at night - lots of thunder and lightning. Mom and I opened the blinds and watch from bed it was so cool. And when a big crack of thunder would hit I just snuggled up a little closer. Same forecast for today and the rest of the week. That's okay with me just so it's nice for the weekend when mom is home.

So the 4th of July is next week is everyone excited for those noisy fireworks??? I'm NOT - don't like them a little bit. We're having a BBQ - anyone else having a party?

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
A blimp, huh? Very odd looking, except for the dog on the outside. Hehehehehehe!!!!! I would imagine it is a good way for businesses to advertise. It is busy here today and tomorrow. I have to start my party planning for Mom and Dad's 37th anniversary tomorrow. I am having a little difficulty getting focused on that as my Daddy is going in today for a biopsy. I just know it is serious and Mom says to tell you all to say prayers and keep your paws crossed. So Glue Squad send your energy to my Dad, he needs its. Thanks!!!!

Now, onto someone we all need to take a moment and remember. I heard of a fallen K-9 officer, a four legged one, named Kilo, in Indiana. I wish I knew where to send a card to---he was with his human officer and they were shot. The man is recovering, but Kilo gave his life in the line of duty. He had served and protected for a number of drug busts. I thank Kilo and all the men, women and 4 legged officers that defend our freedom. It is so sad when lives are lost.

Sorry to be so sad today. When Dad is home safe and sound I will be better. Have a GEM of a day.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

P.S. Zoe, there are no fireworks here in Colorado. State wide ban because of the fires, so you will have to party for me. I think we will be working on Weston's house that weekend. Stay cool everyone.

  • Hi F,S&GK+ Glue Squad, WOW! We have never seen any blimps flying over our house, but we do see airplanes over our house every day since we are several miles close to the SeaTac Airport! Our airplanes are very noisy and I hear some right now! Sharkey, you sure had some good information to share with us today and I so enjoyed these beautiful photos of you 2 sweet girls! Hope you have another great day and say Hi to handsome GK! Zoe, we had a big rain storm yesterday morning and will have more all week! Luckily we will have a bit of sunshine between rain storms and it's supposed to get better as we get close to the 4th of July! Nice to hear from Missy Chow, Lucinda and James, Martha,Riley,&Lucy,Abby, Gail, and Kirby again a bit later yesterday! Hope to hear from all of you again today! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hello Francesca,Sharkey, Zoe, Maddox,Ruby tuesday,Black Mama,Kitty and all my glue squad friends,
I have never seen a blimp before around here, sometimes we see balloons flying around up high. I like to watch the airplanes from the local airport from my window perch.
I am wondering where Professor Maddox is today? Zoe, we might have lobsters for the fourth of July! Mom is running in a special race called the Main Street mile. She really likes running down the middle of Main Street with her friends.
Ruby are you out in your pool with the brightly colored duck toys? Zoe, any pool adventures yet? Dudley, how are you keeping cool? I bet Kitty is out patrolling at night with the full moons. We had a thunder boomer last night too, I hide until the noise is over. The cicadas are almost gone now.
My best purrs to all the glue squad and keep cool!

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Wow, now that’s a blimp. I’ve seen these things before only the one I saw said “Goodyear” on the side. This blug today made me go outside and look at the sky. “I looked into the sky and what did I see? . . . It was a one eyed, one horned, flying purple people eater.” Mommy and Daddy sing that often; say it reminds them of their teen years. Ah yeessss, I remember my teen years; seems as if it was just yesterday. Speaking of yesterday, had thunderstorms again but it didn’t rain at my house. It did rain less than a mile away. Expecting more storms this afternoon; that’s summer for you.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi Girls & Glue Squad-Mom got so excited to see the blimp in today's post. You see
she worked for the company for many years full time and now works for them part time. It must have been exciting to see it up overhead, the dog makes it, right?? :) . We have medic helicopters fly over our house from time to time as the hospital isn't very far and there is a landing

  • That's neat that you saw a blimp. Mom grew up in California and remembers riding in the car past some really big blimp hangers (great big houses for blimps) sometimes. And the blimps would be outside of their hangers occasionally, just moored to whatever it is blimps moor to. They were the last of the blimps the military used 'back in the day' sez Mom. And then one time she was driving to Houston and had been driving for a really long time. When she looked out her rear view mirror after a bit, the Goodyear blimp was following her! Right down low so it filled her rear view mirror!! Boy did she suddenly stop being tired!!!! Then it lifted up and went on its merry way. As must I
    A bientot!

  • Good Morning Everyone,
Wow, it's such a treat to see a blimp. We see this one on occassion too. We also see Hot Air Balloons, and lots of military aircraft. Even see some old bi-wings fly by. Mis's favorite was the pair of Osprey that flew by a couple of years ago. Ginger, the border collie Mis had before me, was terrified of any plane. Mis said that she was too smart and looked up at where the noise was coming from. One morning she went to get the paper with Mis's Dad and heard someone speak from out of the blue. She looked up and a huge hot air balloon was hoovering a few feet above them. Freaked her out totally! Mis's Dad had a great story to tell at breakfast that morning!
Ruby, I'm sorry to hear about your Dad and our prayers are with all of your family, great and small. And for that matter all the glue squad great and small. By the way, watch out for those raccoons, they can be bad news. I have one that comes in the cat door and eats their food at night. Ohhhhhh, I'm going to get it one day. (by the way, I have a High prey drive, but we won't talk about that!).
Delia, I've experinced the 'Limp Tail' syndrome too. Dr. M calls it Broken Wag. I call it ouch!!! Another reason to dislike water. I got mine after Mis gave me a bath once. Any reason I hate baths. Labs that hunt, get wet and cold are most prone but vets don't know exactly why. I can tell them, IT'S THE WATER! Geeeezzzeeee!
Zoe, I got as close as Mis allowed yesterday and that's where me and my cousins will stay today. Yesterday we had lightning and thunder in the early afternoon and later too. But Kirby, we have been so dry the past few years that we welcome all the rain we're getting despite the storms. We know that it can cut off at any point here so maybe our water table will get get back to normal before it does.
Okay, I've got to go get lunch!
Thank you for listening, Dixie Boy

  • Hello from OHIO!
We've seen blimps from time to time, usually in the fall. We live between Columbus and Cincinnati so the blimps fly...float...travel from football game to football game. We also see alot of hot air balloons and lots of medical heliocopters. There's lots of traffic in our friendly skies!
Our Dad is doing fine. The doctor said his heart is good but....he HAS to stop smoking! We are giving him alot of encouragement. We hope he can kick that nasty habit. He went back to work this week.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ruby's Dad. Hope you can feel our love, Ruby!
We are sad to hear about Kilo. Such brave and wonderful dogs...giving their lives so others can live.
It is Hot, Humid and Hazy here in southwest Ohio and we hate it. I, Brutus have such a heavy coat and Max doesn't have much of nose to breath through. We mostly run outside, do what we have to do and run back into the nice air conditioning. The mornings have been in the 70's, so there's no relief at all.
Must be off now....Mom has to go to work.

    Pugs and kisses to all!

  • Just to let everyone know:
The police dog who was killed in the line of duty today, Kilo, is from Sellersburg, Indiana.
The address for the police department is:
    101 S. New Albany Avenue
    Sellersburg, IN 47172

    Sad, sad day.

  • Hey, those Blimps get all over the place, don't they!

Home from Kansas and have a lot of house work catch-up.
Kitty is happy to have us home...had a terrible storm and flooding last night.

Happy Anniversary to Ruby's mommie and daddie!

Love to all and with hugs,
    delia & Kitty =^. .^=
