Edging The Peony Beds

Posted by F&S

Nothing sets off your garden like a nice crisp edge and that's why we Frenchies were so happy to see edging action taking place in the peony garden just as those amazing flowers are beginning to open.

Roger, it must be nice working with your brother. Wilmer's a hard worker and I'm sure he appreciates your help.

So Roger, after Wilmer makes a pass with the power edger, you remove what he trimmed off. That's what we call team work! And the beds really do look neat.

Sharkey, the peonies are finally opening up. With all our cold, rainy weather, they are quite late this year.

Francesca, I just love looking at all the different varieties and each one has its own special fragrance.

  • ..I like peonies, ours are just about ready to burst open..helped Lucinda, me and the tribe (they hang back), watched her transplant some flowers..and then we all relaxed around her lounge chair..she has back problems from 40 years of tending bar..lifting heavy racks of glasses in and out the glass washer..always worked nite shift..so we try to baby her..James is doing better..there is talk of selling the tractor and trailer, since you know who is not here to ride around the farm/ranch...talk of a pet rat has stopped..but Lucinda is now eyeing dwarf hamsters..they look like snacks to me!..Have a fun day all my glue squad buddies..over and out, your pal, Black Mama

  • That certainly is a fancy pants power edger! :)

The garden looks more tidy when everything is just so.

Lucky for Wilmer to have a helper! :)

    The pink peonies are pretty!

    Happy day to all..

  • Good morning everyone,
Welcome to the farm Roger. Francesca and Sharkey will be able to fill you in on all the projects going on at the farm. And remember Roger, they will tell us if you do a good job or not. Hehehehehehehe
Zoe, I bet you sleep real good in your new bed. We missed you last week but we understand. If your mom is hard at work and your dad too, you can't get to the computer cause you are too little to get up high to get to the keyboard. Maybe your dad could build you computer steps. Black Mamma, that was so special of Lucinda to get Cora -Belle's sweater vest cleaned. Maybe in time she and James can get another dog. It would not be Cora-Belle, but it could be a poor dog that needs a home and lots of love and Lucinda and James have lots of love going on in that house.
Well, you Glue Squad maniacs, it stopped raining so I am taking my dryer out to dry a sleeping spot on the deck before the next storm comes.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Good Morning F & S

I have to agree there is nothing better than seeing a nice straight edge line along the gardens, makes it look nice and tidy. Our peonies are in full bloom and they are SO pretty. I wish mom could bring some in the house but they are full of ants. Hey F & S can you ask Martha how you can git rid of the ants in the cut peonies?

So sad the weekend is over :( I spent lots of time outside but I needed my spritz bottle to keep me cool. Mom and dad used the pool a lot this weekend it was HOT!!!

Rain here in NJ today so I think I'll catch up on my beauty sleep. I think it's a good day to stay in my new bed and cuddle up with a good book ;)

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
These peonies are just grand, and a new buddy for you and Wilmer has his brother around, how great!! The #7 photo looks like it belongs in a museum---so pretty. Maddox, I am wishing for some rain like you have been getting--90 here today, yuk!! I have been doing very good on the yard supervising, and Dad and I have been working on me understanding not to run off when I get to go in the back 40. There is a fence and ditch and when the gate opens, I have learned not to vroom out, I sit and stay until Dad says o.k. Ruby, then go out and inspect. There is water in the ditch and Dad just built a new Ruby fence and gate over the ditch between the neighbor's yard. Have to get going early before the heat sets in for a cool walk. Lucinda, you shouldn't get rid of the trailer/tractor, what if you have the Glue Squad visit, what will be tour the ranch in? Will check back later to see how everyone's weekend was. Stay cool and have a GEM of a day.
    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I don’t get to work in my Mommies flower garden. When she goes out front, I have to stay inside. I watch her through the windows and whine; I want out there too. When Daddy yells at me, for about the millionth time, I shut up for a while. Not very long mind you. Then there is the dogs next door. When they bark, I whine just so Daddy knows something is wrong. Again I’m in trouble. Guess old age isn’t what I expected; I’ve become fussy. I want my desert before my meal. Now what’s wrong with that? Sounds good to me.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Good morning ladies,
Hello Roger, welcome to the farm! The peonies are so pretty! Do the ants tickle you nose when you take a whiff?
I help Papa while he edges. We don't have a super-duper edger like the one Roger is using, but, we also don't have nearly that much edging to do!
The sun is out (Yea!). Mimi & I have two flats of flowers to plant today & tomorrow.
Hope you all have some sunshine today to start the week.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, WOW! You two beautiful girls sure had a great time watching Wilmer and his brother, Roger cutting and clearing all around the peony beds! They sure did a great job and you two really looked happy to be there! I remember seeing Roger, but didn't know he was Wilmer's brother! Hope you are having another great day and please say Hi to handsome GK! Black Mama, love your comments again and so glad James is doing better and hope Lucinda's back feels better, too! Gail, are you getting rain today? We now have clouds. but should get sunshine real soon! Maddox, love your comments again and hope you stay dry! Zoe, hope it gets dryer where you live real soon! Dearest Ruby, you are behaving so much better and your Mom and Dad must be so proud of you! Kirby, sure hope Mom and Dad understand why you bark and whine! I do the same thing and Mom looks all around to see what makes me bark and whine, too! Rebel, you do a good job helping out in the garden and I try to help, also! Hope to hear from the rest of you buddies real soon! Have another great day! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hello Francesca, Sharkey, Roger, Kirby, Maddox, Rebel, Ruby and all my glue squad buddies,
Jimmy said I should get off my dog bed and say hello to my buddies. We liked seeing the peonies! Mom saw some beautiful peonies and roses up at F.D.R.'s home in Hyde Park, NY on saturday. Many different fragrant flowers there. We had great fun with her company this weekend. I was a superstar posing for pictures, wagging my tail, barking for treats, and generally looking cute... We glue squad members are a good looking bunch!
Rebel, hope you and Mimi enjoy planting flowers outside today. I helped supervise tomato planting yesterday. We have cicadas, it sounds like an alien invasion! Zoe, do you hear them in N.J.???? Maddox, are you being invaded by these ugly insects too. I wonder what Sharkey would think about these insects??
Jimmy is calling me to show me more baby birds out the window. Hope everybody has an awesome day!
high paws and woofs and purrs to Black mama from Jimmy-
    Abby the pug/peke/frenchie girl

  • Hello F&S, GK and all the Glue Squad buddies:
The peonies look spectacular and we agree, the edging makes everything look so well kept and tidy. We don't have a fancy edger either, so my Dad takes an old garden knife and cuts the edges by hand. It looks so nice, I would be glad to help, but Dad complains my edges are not straight - ah well I'm told its the thought that counts.
Well we all went to the groomer's and got our summer do's on Saturday. It was stinky hot here so it felt amazing to be nice and cool and clean. We all look so much different - Riley boy is really just a long legged skinny boy! However, he not huffing and puffing all the time now trying to get cool, and has taken to sleeping on the bed with Mom. We all helped Mom in the garden yesterday, it was raining every 5 minutes so in the end we just stayed outside and got a little wet. Moving day is coming up soon, the house is in a terrible state but soon we'll be on holidays at our breeder - imagine 10-15 Beardies all milling about together - we are an amazingly social group of dogs, no one fights, everyone is happy to be together, its a great time for us and we really look forward to going. Mom is counting down the days till we move .... soon! Well must be going, got to supervise the packing downstairs, Dad is trying to pack up all the tools from the workbench, its a big job but we help as we can.
Love and Beardie bounces to all - Riley, Lucy and Martha.

  • Those are some nice looking peonies, Francesca Baby! Our peony tree blossomed this weekend-- pretty yellow flowers as big as your head! Our other peonies are not open yet, but we are also very far behind. Oh, and the irises are starting to bloom-- I really like irises, they are so pretty; white and purple. I never can find their beards, though ;)
I hope everyone has a great week! We are going to make the most of this one, because Mom will be working lots of hours over the next month when Wicked comes to town!
    A bientot!

  • Hello late evening to everyone. I hope everyone had a great weekend!
