Bath Time For Frenchies

Posted by Francesca

Yesterday was bath time for us, Frenchies.  You may recall that I don't mind a good bath but Sharkey, on the other paw, kind of freaks out at the very mention of one.

Because she's on her way home, we Frenchies have been told that we must have baths so that we smell good for her arrival. Sharkey says it's not like we have a choice in the matter!

Carlos, you know I don't like being bathed! Why are you doing this to me?

Oh no! The drenching!

And now the shampoo! If I could only escape!

Say, that doesn't feel so bad. In fact, I'm beginning to relax a bit.

OK, I'm nearly done with the water bit.

I just don't understand why Sharkey gets herself all worked up about bath time. For me, it's a very enjoyable experience.

Thank goodness! Dry land!

Carlos, I've been waiting very patiently for this.

What's so special about a bath?

Well, the shampoo smells really good and it helps to sooth our Frenchie skin.

Oh no! Now for the ear wash!

Next time, I'm going to find a really good hiding place.

Sharkey, bathing plays an important role in the health of our coat and skin. It removes dirt and parasites and of course, it makes us more pleasant smelling to our human companions.

Franny, yes, I know all of that, but I don't think I'll ever change my mind about bath time. All this fuss is just too much for me.

And Sharkey, because of the twisty, curvy design of our inner ears, it’s easy for parasites, bacteria, and yeast to hide and thrive in them. You should be very appreciative that we have such attentive and loving care givers.

Here we are! Two beautifully clean Frenchies!

  • My husband and I absolutely love this feature on Flipboard and look forward to seeing it every day!! We now want a Frenchie so badly lol! No, I really think we want Francesca and Sharkey. They are so adorable and we love watching their everyday adventures.

  • Good Morning F & S

OMG I feel your pain Sharkey! I HATE to get a bath why can't we just spray a little perfume so we smell good - why all the fuss with water and soap??? Oh that blog made my skin crawl - I better go check the calendar to make sure my name isn't written on any block with the word groomer. If I find one I'm erasing it ;)

Glad to hear your moma Martha is coming home you both must miss her a lot. I miss my mom when she goes to work I can't imagine having her travel a lot. In fact last night mom didn't get home till late she had a graduation to attend and when she got home I was all over her on the sofa. I couldn't get close enough and kept giving her kisses. Dad made a comment that I was acting like I hadn't seen her in a month. Oh how I love my moma :)

Well on that note I think I'll go give her a few extra Frenchie kisses before she goes to work.

  • Hi everyone,
Good old bath time. Do you know when I was showing I got one just about every week. Actually, I like it cause both Karen and Gerry have a hydro surge at their houses so I get the same kind of bath no matter where I am. It feels good. It is like getting a massage.
I laid low and didn't mention Father's Day cause I don't want Martha to ask me for support for GK. I mean, there is no way I could cover his kind of lifestyle. I would be willing to share my biscuit stash with him though. Do you think Martha would ask me for support payments for my son.? Naaaaa. Just kidding. Hehehehehehehe
I was thinking. I wonder how many miles Martha has in the air. Seriously, I wonder if she knows. I flew to several really big Chow Specialty shows in different parts of the country. It was fun. I even sat in a seat next to Karen one time. But, and I can't figure this out, they didn't offer me a cocktail or champagne. Hehehehehehehe
Have a good day Glue Squadders
    Love to all,
    Maddox
I keep hitting the submit button but my message isn't disappearing. Hope it doesn't send a bunch of duplicates

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Bath time isn’t a good subject around here. I had one the other day and boy that wasn’t fun. I don’t like getting wet at all. I don’t like all those “orders” I get too: Stand still, Come back here, Not at that end of the tub, Shake, Shake, Shake, and my favorite, Get out of the tub! The cat never gets a bath at all. Yesterday we had a quick thunderstorm and the cat was out front. Before he could get to shelter, he was drenched. He, He; he got a bath anyway. Mommy brought him inside and used a towel on him. He smells the same; wet cat.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
You look marvelous girls, but I feel the pain Sharkey. Seven months in my forever home and I have escaped the bath--remember Mom even tried getting me in the shower with Pot Roast---NOT, it didn't happen. My heroine, Cora Belle, taught me that baths are not necessary. What Mom, a spa day in my pool is coming. No, no, and double no. The thought of it upsets me. But then this "cc" time is catching on, so maybe a bath will too. Oh well, I better go and patrol my kingdom. The garden is slow this year, but eventually we will enjoy some goodies. Have a GEM of a day all.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Hi Glue Squad,
I'm new to this blogging thing but perhaps my owner, Mis can help me.
Bath time for me is the worst. Traditional baths are not possible anymore. Not since I freaked out and threw my owner down. Ohhhhhh, I must be the only Lab mix in the country that can't stand water. It must be the mixed genes, couldn't be the Lab ones. Now I get what Mis calls a Cat Lick. A slightly soapy washcloth and lots of massaging. A much better idea!
My cousins have no issues with baths. Even ask for them. I dont't understand them very well, but we sure have a good time together!
I'll write about myself and my life here in the southeast later so you can all get to know me. Can you take in another? Sure hope so, as Mis says, bring'em on. What's one more!
Have a wonder filled day, Dixie Boy

  • Hello Sharkey,Francesca, Maddox, Zoe, Ruby Tuesday, Kitty, Black Mama, Dudley,Ms.Chow and all my glue squad buddies,
We loved the bath pictures today! Sharkey made me laugh until Mom said today is my spa day! Oh my! I do not like the water part but the massage part and scubbing makes me smile like Franny. And afterwards I love the toweling off with soft warmed towels straight from the drier. Nice stuff!
Ruby, maybe someday you will like the water and the black lab part of you will come bursting out. Missy Chow how are you doing up in Boston? Rebel, how are the baby ducks? Zoe, any t.p. paper crafts??? It was so sweet what you said about loving your mama.
Jimmy ran out of his cat dry food so its petsmart day!! Hurray! I run to the car for that trip. MOM is going to brush his persian teeth with poultry tooth paste. OMG that should be a good one!! hahahaha.
High paws and woofs to all my buddies and Jimmy sends purrrs to Kitty,Black Mama and Empress tang.

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, How nice that the two of you sweet girls took a bath so you would be nice and clean and smell nice when Martha returned from France last night! Bet she loved you even more! Sharkey, I'm just like you because I don't like to hear about a bath or have to take one ever! I do feel great after my bath, however! We are both kind of silly, aren't we?! Francesca, I'm so glad you enjoy your bath and you look so relaxed! Bet you enjoyed having Martha back home and bet GK was thrilled, also! Black Mama, I know you cleaned yourself and sweet Cora-Belle cleaned herself, also! Gail, great thoughts from you again! Judith North, hope you do get a Frenchie! Zoe, I love my Mom as much as you do yours! We are so fortunate to have them! Maddox, I have never gone on an airplane, but I love to ride in Mom's pick up truck when ever possible! Kirby, how fun that your Mom loves that Cat and I would, too! Ruby, I don't know how to avoid a bath either! Hope you have better weather! Hope to hear from the rest of you buddies real soon! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • DIXIE BOY WELCOME,
We are the best and we always welcome new friends. What are you? How old are you? Do you have brothers and sisters? I already know you are very smart since you don't like a bath. LOL!!! Welcome, my new friend, Dixie Boy, and I can hardly wait to learn alllllll about you and your family. Have a GEM of a day.
    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Well Francesca Baby, there's another way you take after your Mother. I LOVE my baths!! I love getting that extra extra attention, and the back scritches feel wonderful! Then we get our folds cleaned out (ok, I don't like that part very much,) our ears cleaned, an extra dab of Nose Butter on our noses, wrapped in a dry towel and then it's hang out on the couch time until we're all dried off.
    A bientot!

  • ..we need to know all about you, Dixie Boy, the glue squad is a great group..all a wild interesting bunch..but, also, the most caring group one could hope to know, just ask James and Lucinda. The glue squad helped and still helping Lucinda get thur a difficult period of her life aka no naughty dog...I am just a feral cat and they have welcomed me into the fold and I am so greatful..with that i must get out and help them cut the trail to the river..Lucinda said she was going to let it grow over..but that was just grief talking..and today Ivan and Ivanka and oh no..the stupid Chiweenies are going to help..yes, I said Cheweenies..those goofy guys made a surpirse visit this a.m., !!gotta go, love, Black Mama ans tribe

  • Well Franny and Sharkey this is not what I would call the dogs will play while MS is away!!
I got a good laugh at how Uncle Carlos carried you guys to the tub...hilarious! And to rinse you with a glass pitcher? Only at MS!!
I'm glad Kitty doesn't need bathing, she has three layers of silky fur that is constantly being brushed out and I know she would never ever let my bath her.

Hello to all my glue squad friends
delia on vacation & =^. .^= Kitty at home with auntie taking care

  • Squeaky clean for the lil' squeakers. You two look great after your bath. Laura and Uncle Carlos are such troopers to make sure you two look sharp for MommyMartha's return. I want to see G.K.'s bath time now that he's a big boy.
