Planning an Excursion for G.K.

Posted by F&S

You may recall on yesterday's blog that G.K. was miffed that we didn't include him on our adventure.  We Frenchies realize that he is a proud dog and likes to think of himself as the gatekeeper to our home, but we can't be barred from entering.  We had to come up with a plan to include G.K. in one of our jaunts or two.

There are a few issues that we need to talk to you about.

Sharkey and I have a real problem taking you anywhere because when you are off leash, you bolt and don't come back when you're called.

Francesca is right, G.K. It really is no fun for us when you don't cooperate.

I mean, who want's to chase you all over the place? That get's old real fast, unlike this terrific back scratch method.

G.K., don't look so miserable! There's so much more than running. The farm is full of adventure and you can learn so much from the two of us.

Sharkey, I have an idea. If he wants to run, maybe that's not exactly a bad thing. I know where we could take G.K. where he can still run, but won't get too far.

Oh, I see. You'd like to have a nap first? That's probably not a bad idea. To be continued.......

  • Hello everyone,
The pictures on the blog today are hilarious. I was laughing so hard. Sharkey, you got moves girlfriend. You could win a breakdancing competition. You could go on that show Dancing with the Dogs, I mean Stars. Hehehehehehe. And GK, the one of you in motion shaking your head is priceless. Your fur is flying all over. Hey son, at least you are getting closer to going on an adventure with the girls. You should tell Martha to fence in a section of her property just for you to run free. I bet you would love that. Sharkey and Francesca should find a good place on the farm to do that.
Well Glue Squad, it is deck time. Nice and cool this morning. Catch up with everyone later
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Good Morning F & S

GK I'm with you I love to run and won't return when called so I'm always on a leash. I like to visit all the neighbors and check out what's going on the the neighborhood. Mom and Dad have a real fit - I usually get a time out in the crate when I pull one of those stunts ;)

I'll tell ya it's been pretty chilly here in NJ these past few nights. I had my entire body under the covers last night and couldn't get close enough to Mom. Where is this warm spring weather???

Mom was up at the crack of dawn this morning lots of meetings today. I plan on helping Dad with the pool today but I hope it warms up I might need a coat!!

  • Hello Girls, G.K., and Glue Squad Buddies,
G.K. I feel your pain, not being able to go free as the girls do always. Why is it that some of us just like to bolt and some stay put? Do you think it is an age thing? I will be excited to see where the girls take you for an adventure. Good thing you are resting up, I have a feeling you will be running like the wind. Dad is hooking up the swamp cooler today---too hot for me without it. Goofy Mom telling me our lilacs and apple trees are late blooming---dah-Mom, they got frozen during the late snows. Thanks to mine and Dad's keen investigating skills, we discovered this yesterday. I love Lilacs and will miss them. When on my walk yesterday around the lake, I did good and didn't try to attack the roller bladder. We stood off to the side and I stayed calmer than last time. They scare me. Well, Glue Squad Buddies, I need to hear of all your adventures today. I have a lot of computer time with Dad doing his thing on the swamp cooler. So, stay cool, and calm and carry on--have a GEM of a day.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Good morning ladies & G.K.
What's this bolting thing you do big boy? How's about letting you loose with the donkeys? Hmm, you might get under the fence... You really need a really big dog yard to romp in. Hey Sharkey! loved your back scratching technique! You go girl. I sure like to run, short sprints, that is. It doesn't take much to wear out a little guy like me.
My duckling report - so far they are staying close to their Mom & she hasn't asked for any help yet. There is one that lags behind though that may need attention.
Anywho, lots of sun today. I think I'll ask to be tied up under the big river birch. I get shade & I can reach the warm driveway for some sunshine.
    Have a great day all.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Good to see you today. I don’t know what is going on but on Tuesdays I can’t get the Daily Wag. I can see all the other places on Martha’s page, but the Daily Wag is missing. It’s been that way two weeks now. That’s why I don’t post on Tuesdays. If you think you will get GK to learn to come when called, you are wasting your time. I’m eleven years old and I still don’t come when called. Now it there is a treat waiting for me, I may come when called the third time or so. As for the running, I do that too. Yep, just let me go and I’m off like a race horse. And fast too; don’t think anything can catch me. Hang in there GK, I’m right behind you on your journey.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Handsome G.K., Sharkey, Franny, Ruby,Maddox, Zoe,Rebel and all my buddies,
Great pictures today, loved the lion's mane on G.K. The pictures of Sharkey break dancing are great! Abby needs some lessons to improve her technique.
Ruby, what is a swamp cooler??? Are there gators in there? Stay away from the gators girl friend.
Rebel, its nice you are helping to protect the baby ducklings. Kirby, do you have thick hair like G.K. to keep you warm? Cooler temps here today in the Hudson valley of N.Y.
Mom got most of the garden weeded and cultivated yesterday, still have to wait until the frost is gone to plant most of the seeds.
I hope the girls find a nice fenced in area for G.K. to practice his running. Have a great day glue squad friends- puurrrrs- Jimmy Dean the persian boy cat.

  • Morning Girls, GK & Glue Squad Buddies, Nice to see all of you together and getting ready to go for a run. Now, GK, stay close to the girls and don't do anything foolish, they won't take you the next time. I would take a nap too because once the girls run, he will need to stay close. I agree with your Dad, you should have your own little fenced area to run in and do your own thing. Dad played with me outside; and boy, was I running up a storm-I really think he was trying to tire me out for the night ;) . Rebel, glad the ducklings are doing okay. Ruby, when do you get your pool? Zoe, it's been cool here too but it's my kind of weather-with my fur coat it can get mighty warm. Will check back later to see if everyone is up. Time for a nap.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, You two sweet girls are doing your best to teach young GK to be a good boy and not run away! I know he is on a leash and I have to be on one whenever Mom and I go out of our yard so I won't run out on the busy road! Maybe you could take him into the donkey paddock so he wouldn't run out to the road! I love all of these photos of the 3 of you great buddies! Hope you have a great day! It was so much fun to hear from the first four of you Glue Squaders this morning-Maddox,Zoe,Ruby, and Rebel! All 4 of you sound great and can't wait to hear from the rest of you buddies! I have been helping Mom picking and trimming lots of weeds plus watering some flowers! Our weather was great yesterday and might be a bit wet today! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Gee, Sharkey that is a doozy of a back scratch! :)

I wonder where GK can run safely in an enclosed area so he won't escape..

    Perhaps the donk pavilion? :)

    To be continued is right...

    Happy Hump Day!

  • Just caught up on yesterdays comments and posted the delay for me Love the Virginia Bluebells...
Hello all and Welcome to the new friends.

GK, one must behave to be able to go out and run without being tethered to a line...that's what Cesar says ;-)

I'm still mad at Kitty for maiming that poor Chippy...can't think about it...her aim right now is to catch our Wren...better not happen! :-(

I saw mommie martha on Jay Leno show last night, can't figure out if she liked him...wow, Martha looking for a date??? I'm glad I don't have to go through that in this day and age...I have had my Prince for over 50 years (I got married when I was 10 ;-) ha ha)

GK sweets, I have to tell you that # 8 photo is so funny...now be good and listen to F & S and you might enjoy the freedom they do.

Maddox thanks for your kind words...God always takes care of me! :-)

B.Mamma girl and JD prrrreeerrrr from Kitty.

Hugs to all my friends/furfriends have a wonderful bright and sunny day where permitted

    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • ..I knew a naughty cattledog that pretended she didn't know here name and ran like the wind..G.K., you are so handsome..can you believe that Lucinda is thinking about getting a pet rat?..saw some used rats in a cage at Petco the other day..hmm..a rat?..what the heck?..the Chiweenies and James and Lucinda are off the the beach..who would want to take those things anywhere?..they jump around and can't see out the windows..their people called last night to talk to them..another two weeks and we will be chiweenie-less..I can hardly wait!..over and out, Black Mama

  • Hello Everyone - this is Riley writing and I just have to tell you guys about our solution to GK's running issues. He needs to go to dog school! I'm going to go to school in the Fall, my sisters both went and while they might have selective hearing most of the time they really do know what they are supposed to do. I just watch and take my cues from what they are doing! If Beardies can learn (cause they say we are the class clowns) then Chows can learn as well! Let's get the Glue Squad together and everyone can attend at one time! Well, maybe not, but it sounds like a good idea!
Love Riley, Martha & Lucy girl.

  • Hi everyone! Just a quick note coming through Mom to say hello and give the exciting news that Mom is coming home in just a couple of days! We have missed her a lot and will be very happy to see her. Dad takes good care of us, and so does Auntie Ellen and our Uncle Dick, but Mom gets all the little details right.
    A bientot!

  • Greetings to all from Lebanon, OH!!
Well, it had to turn hot today. Being a big dog with lots of thick fur, I hate the hot. Mom has my fur cut really short, but still....too hot for me.
I feel your pain GK, I like to run and enjoy the neighborhood as well. And yes, Mom and Dad keep me on a leash. We go for walks, but it's still not the same. Max wonders off, not very fast, but he is on a leash too. Since we live close to a main highway, I guess I would rather be safe than sorry.
Can't wait to see where the Frenchies take you tomorrow!
Hugs to all the Glue Squad!

    Brutus
