One Of Our May Adventures

Posted by F&S

We Frenchies went out for one of our adventures the other day and we encountered a lot of exciting things.  However, at the end of the adventure, we realized that we should probably have included G.K.

Sharkey, don't you just love exploring around the farm?

Yes I do, Francesca. The Japanese maple grove has so many interesting plants to look at. I love these feathery ferns and these unusual umbrella-shaped leaves of the Mayapple.

Do you see those very pretty blue flowers? They are Virginia bluebells and they're native to moist woodland in eastern North America.

Virginia bluebell is a spring ephemeral plant, meaning it is a perennial plant that emerges quickly in the spring and dies back to its underground parts after a short growth and reproduction phase.

I could linger here forever, Sharkey, but there's so much more to discover. I see some digging going on by the lilacs.

  • What a great post! Really funny to see G.K. keeping the screen door closed to let the girls know he wants to explore too next time.
We want to welcome Brutus, Max and Black mama cat too. Welcome to the glue squad buddies!
Cold tonight, we might get frost!!!
Abby is snoozing but I am up late with Mom after a busy night at work. Wonder what Maddox is doing?
Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

  • Hello ladies,
Things are blooming all over the place at your farm. I thought all the roses were planted already. Martha must have lots and lots of roses. That was funny at the end of your walk, GK wouldn't let you in. I laughed real hard. That's my boy. Hehehehehehe
Rebel, I bet you are very happy that your ducks are back. Now your work begins. Zoe and Dudley, you two better keep warm. We are having freeze alerts here for several days. Freeze in the middle of May. WAA Huu. Kirby, come on up and enjoy a couple days of wonderful cool weather. Ruby, you make sure you don't put Weston's turtles out for sale at your yard sale. Delia, we all hope your doctors figure out your dizziness. Molly and Jake, today is the day, wow a new house, new neighbors, new adventures. Missy Chow, are you getting into trouble again? Say it ain't so. Black Mamma, three cheers to the jerks that dumped you off cause you are in a much better place now with people that care about you and not only that, we all get to know you. Max, tell your mom to get Brutus a Thundershirt. They work pretty good for storms. As for the rest of you, Abby and James Dean, Martha, Lucy and Riley, kitty and Baby Favor, stay kool.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Hey Maddox, Sharkey,Francesca, Missy Chow, Black mama, Kitty, Ruby Tuesday and all my buddies,
Well, we really missed a lot the last few days. Missy Chow, hope you are NOT getting into mischief again... Zoe, how's that t.p. going? Any new paper crafts?? Rebel, are you chasing the ducks again??
Ruby, we liked the picture of the giant canopy, maybe you can send some hot weather back our way, only 47 this morning. Glad to have my persian fur suit on.
G.K. looks great, standing post by the door. Maddox, you must be a proud papa.
Dudley, are you up yet?? Maybe we can all mew and bark real loud to wake everybody up this fine morning.
Back to reading about companion planting,

  • Hello Everyone - This is Martha writing today since Riley and Lucy are too busy patrolling the perimeter of the yard. We have a garlic field beside us on one side, and yesterday the whole family that owns it was out hoeing it. My goodness, Lucy barked herself out last night, and Riley provided backup. I found a quiet spot with a good vantage point and just watched! Very interesting. We have had some crazy weather lately, Sunday was so miserable - cold, sleet, freezing rain, hail, gale force winds and then occasional peeks of sun. Not a very nice Mother's Day at all. We are in packing mode now, and I'm not sure how we feel about this event. I think we are uncomfortable cause we don't understand why everything is getting turned upside down in the house, although its fine if we just sit outside. Ah well, it will be over soon. We love Ruby's pictures of her shade canopy, and also like very much the idea of a swimming pool so she can cool off whenever! We would love to join her, image that, 4 big dogs in a little kiddie pool - fun, wow!
We all went to the vet last Friday for vaccinations, heartworm testing, examinations etc. I, Martha broke a tooth - a piece on the side came right off. The vet said that Mom should watch it, it looked to be healing over already, so hopefully no surgery or tooth pulling will be required. Gotta watch those bones!
Well, time to move along, computer time seems to be at a premium today, so we will leave you with Beardie bounces to all, Love Martha, Lucy and Riley boy (chief excavator, international superintendant of Ruby's landscaping & design firm and Tasmanian devil wannabe!).

  • Hello Girls, G.K. & all my Glue Squad Buddies,
Exploring your farm and racing looks so much fun. You have to go out early in the day for G.K., so he doesn't get a heat stroke. Tell him you were just thinking of him, and wanted him to stay cool. Those Bluebells are beautiful. We are a couple weeks behind you since the snow, but soon will catch up with weather like yesterday---87!! Rebel, I wish I could see your baby ducks. It has to be so fun watching them grow up. Black Mamma, our night camera catches all the feral cats in the neighborhood. There is a gray one and a black one. Sometimes they are minutes apart from the coyote or fox, so be careful at night. Molly and Jake, I can hardly wait to hear of your new adventures. Just like Riley, Lucy, and Martha when they get moved. I tried gearing Dad to keep this tent canopy instead of selling it at the garage sale, so I could keep cool in the summer. Even with all the motions in my favor it didn't fly. The alien Ruby had a little incident yesterday and that probably didn't help. A delivery guy at the door and I raced out. Not good, as then there was a school bus arriving next door....and so on and so on. I must not get scolded today, and just keep with helping organize for the garage sale. Black Mamma that would be so fun if the Glue Squad were here helping and playing and eating biscuits, oh my. There is a real bidding war between the parents going on. This is a real funny week. Hehehehe Hugs to everyone. Have a GEM of a day.
    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, How fun to see all three of you fabulous buddies again! I'm sure GK would have loved going all around the farm with you sweet girls and maybe we will get to see all 3 of you having lots of fun together again! Seeing Wilmer, Gyurme, Roger, and Phil planting those roses sure looked like fun! Sure hope all of you have a great day! Hi Jimmy Dean and Abby! It's so nice to hear from you Jimmy and it's only 48 here this morning with a big storm yesterday! Maddox, thanks again for such a great comment you shared and how nice to say great things about our buddies! Was great to hear from Missy Chow, Rebel, Kirby, Delia, Black Mama, Brutus and Max, and Molly and Jakey yesterday and I agree with Maddox's comments about all of you sweethearts! Hope you all have a great day! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Frolicking on the farm is a fun way to spend the day!

What a stinker that GK didn't let you in the house. hee hee.

Make sure he can tag along for the next outing.

Kind of a chilly day here in NH. Seems Spring is taking a break and Winter has resumed! :)

    Happy day to all..

    gail

  • Morning F&S, GK and Glue Squad, great to see both of you running from place to place to check the flowers. Mom has little purple flowers in her garden too but not like yours. I think I would smelling for kitties and squirrels if I ran loose passing on the flowers. I hope GK finally let both of you in but don't forget to take him be time. Bet he would have enjoyed it too. Maddox, James Dean, yes I have been naughty and both Mom & Dad were not happy with me last night, maybe there's something in the air or maybe the ice cubes in my water. The terrible twos keep hanging around for me, what happens when I turn 3???? Sorry Ruby we tried so you could keep the canopy for the summer, just flash those big brown eyes to Dad:-). Rebel, the babies must be adorable, maybe Mimi will take a picture. Zoe, any more time at the pool this week? Kind of cool here almost feels like late fall. Dudley Do Right, how's things? Hi Abby, Kitty, Black Mama, Molly, Jakey, Martha,, Lucy, Riley. I hope I didn't leave any one. Back to patrolling.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • A day late and a dollar short. I hope all of the wonderful Mom's had a great Mother's Day Weekend. I'm playing catch up on everyone's goings on because I've been playing nurse helping a friend recover from straining his back. Too much biking too soon.

Next time ladies G.K. gotta go with you or he will pretend that you two don't exist!

  • Hello Frenchies GK and the whole gang here...just stopped by to read the post...forgot to come here yesterday...memory :-(
