Posted by Francesca

As you may remember, G.K. was whisked away to another dog show and was supposed to return on Monday.  However, Karen Tracy didn't bring him back until yesterday and we Frenchies missed him for another whole day.

First things first, girls. I need to take care of a little something, if you know what I mean.

Oh, I get the picture. I'll give you some privacy.

That's right, girls. Plus, I was given The Book of the Chow Chow, written by Karen's mentor, Dr. Samuel Draper.

My ribbons were for Best of Breed Variety from the Staten Island Kennel Club, the Plainfield Kennel Club, and the Monmouth County Kennel Club. I'm quite proud, if I don't say so.

Well, G.K. - I wish I could say that you missed a whole lot of great stuff while you were gone. But that just isn't the case. The weather was pretty atrocious.

Oh, but you did miss a mouth-watering party that Martha gave and Chef Pierre cooked for. But you can read all about it on Martha's blog today.

  • Hello,
I am Karen's mother. I live with Karen. I just wanted to let Martha know that GK is such a perfect guest. He loves to run in the fenced area. When he is done, he comes to the gate to come in. He eats all of his meals and he is a very content and confident dog. I was very happy to see him again and I am so proud of how his show career is coming along.

  • Hello everyone,
I have to say, Karen's old van doesn't look too bad on the blog today. She calls it her Ebay van cause she bought it on EBay when she needed a van to get the injured dogs back and forth to the hospital for laser treatments for their burns. She couldn't touch them to pick them up because of the burns so she got the van and used a ramp. Now on to GK. you were superb my son. You didn't miss a beat. A chip off the old block. By the third day you made the cut in the group ring which was very very good. I am sure group placements will come to you real soon Karen said it was very windy there and the one day in the group ring all your fur was blowing forward. She was so sad that she didn't have her I pad with her at the ring that day cause she said your fur looked amazing the way the wind was blowing it. Keep it up son. Keep it up.
To my Glue Squad buddies, I am sorry I didn't tell you how GK did at the shows but I know Francesca and Sharkey wanted to do that cause they are proud of him too.
I am going for deck time before the rain starts again but I'll be back
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Good morning girls,
You got your brother back yesterday. He did great at the show over the weekend. Maybe the two of you could go along sometime when GK goes to the shows so you can watch him do his thing. I just wanted to say that I was very proud of GK.. He showed so well.
He had a shar pei named Sam who was his roomie at the motel and they got along well together. He won a Chow book that was a little worn but that was nice of the club to give each breed winner a book about their breed. GK's book was written in 1977 by Dr. Sam Draper who happened to become my mentor about 22 years later when I got involved in showing chows.
I want to thank each and every one of the Glue Squad members for being so supportive of GK in his show endeavor
    Karen

  • Lucinda and Black Mamma,
I just wanted to say from me and Karen, we hope James gets back to normal real quick. He is a very good man, very good. Give him Cora-Belle's sweater vest to hold so he can get her strength. Get well James. Lucinda, be strong. We love you.
    Maddox and Karen

  • Hello G.K., Girls & all my Glue Squad Buddies,
What a proud day for the Glue Squad to be able to congratulate you G.K., Karen, Jan and of course, proud Daddy, Maddox. What excitement there must have been in that ring, G.K., when you pranced in---you looked so regal and fluffy. Congrats to all!!! Karen don't be too sad leaving him, as I can tell in the last photo you are going to miss him.

Black Mama I am so sorry about James, but you know he has the best nursing crew around with you and Lucinda. Maddox, what a marvelous idea to give Cora Belle's vest for him to have and get strength. You aren't called the "thinker" for nothing big guy. Rain here all night, and probably all day. I don't like it as much as snow because of the big booms that are coming with it. Hope little Lentil is doing alright after the surgery. Everyone, can hardly wait to hear from you---will check back later. Have a GEM of a day.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Morning Girls, GK & Glue Squad - I can see that you girls are so happy to have GK back from his successful weekend, congratulations GK on your ribbons. You are definitely a "winner". Wishing James a speedy recovery. Black Mama, I know you will take good care of James & Lucinda. Sending good thoughts to Lentil. Well, it's raining today and outside time will be limited once again for me. But it will help to keep the pollen down, trees are in full bloom, Mom's rhodies are starting to pop,and flowers showing lots of color. We had a quiet weekend, Mom & Dad worked outside; and of course, I supervised again-Ruby, Dad did a great job on the bird condos. Maddox, bet you are so proud of your son. Rebel, are the ducks still visiting? Dudley, you had a busy weekend, shopping & walks, did you get any new toys? Kirby, what's new? Zoe, did you get to rest around the pool this weekend? Hi Abby, James Dean, Kitty, Martha, Lucy, Riley, Max, Brutus, Baby Favor, Chloe. Back to the front door to rest.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Well another day of no net; down again yesterday. I told Daddy to change to another provider because this one is unreliable. I missed the post for yesterday. Now I’ll have to go back and read them. It was hot yesterday; into the high 80’s. Will be in the 90’s by the weekend; summer is here even if it’s still, officially, almost a month away. Mommy has gone shopping and I think Daddy is going to nap a while. I think I will do the same. Congratulations GK on your wins. I know you’ll have many more coming.
    Catch you later, Kirby

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, Handsome GK, I am so proud of you for winning all 3 of those great dog shows last weekend!!! Your sweet sisters, Martha, Karen, Jan, Maddox, all of the farm crew, the Glue Squad, and my Mom love you to pieces and are very proud of you! Sure hope you all have another great day and hope the rain goes away! We are having rain again today and it's supposed to be dry on Friday-sure hope so! It's so nice to hear from so many of you great buddies this morning and I will take more time to read all of your comments ASAP! I hope all of you and your families are doing well and stay safe! I'll be back later! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hello Champion G.K., Sharkey,Francesca, Karen, Dudley, Missy Chow, Ruby, Sweet Dudley and all my glue squad buddies,
Congratulations G.K. on all your best of breed ribbons! I bet you looked so handsome walking into the ring with your fur blowing, you look great standing still too. Karen, great job with all your chow chows. We enjoyed seeing you on the Wag today.
Black Mama, hope James feels better real soon. I am sending him my persian purrrrs. Those scrambled eggs for the ferals sound good, any bacon??
Ruby, the plants need rain and watering so a little wet weather can help the gardens. Your mom has been working real hard in the garden lately.
Missy chow, glad you were able to supervise in the yard this weekend. Abby had a great weekend and trip to petsmart but today she is not listening to mom. I think she will have to stay home from work. She does not want to do important things on the wet lawn.
We saw a newborn baby fawn in our yard on Monday with the mother doe, very cute!!!
Take care everyone and enjoy your naps.
James Dean the persian cat boy

  • Good morning ladies & G.K.,
    CONGRATULATIONS

  • CONGRATULATIONS big boy! We all knew you could do it! Nice ribbons and a special book for your library.
I'd like to say "Hi" to Mammy Jean. It's nice to hear from you & to know that G.K. is a good guest in your home. I know you and Karen & Maddox take really good care of him.
I bet Martha busted her buttons with pride! You ladies sure were glad he was home, too.
It's quiet here today, gonna be very summery. I bet Mimi puts the top down on the car for our ride home from work.
Here's my best wishes for James. Hope you get better soon.
    Til tomorrow.
    Your Pal,
    Rebel

  • Congrats to the one and only GK! :)

    Mighty fine ribbons!

Aw, hopefully someone saved you a morsel of food from the shindig! A winner like you deserves a little extra now and then!

    Hooray for GK! :)
    gail

  • Yay to G.K. for another award winning weekend! You are certainly are growing into your champion status. I bet you'll be back at the Westminster dog show very soon.

Baby Favor how is little boy Lentil doing? Sending out prayers and blessings to him.

Black Mama, how is James doing? He's got a great medical support team. Give him extra purrs. Give Lucinda some extra lovin' hugs and purrs too and tell her to hang in there.

I hope everyone has a great day.

  • Congratulations to GK-- you are doing so well in the ring and everyone is very proud of you!
The word on Lentil the Frenchie Bean is that he did very well with his operation. He had a little trouble afterwards breathing through his nose, which is probably understandable because it almost certainly got swollen with all the stuff going on-- and we Frenchies need to be able to breathe through our noses or else we can start panting too hard and that's not good. He spent a little extra time at the vet, but tonight he got to go home with his wonderful Mom!
    A bientot!

  • Sorry we are sooo late with this e-mail.
Congrats to GK! The girls loved very happy to have you back home.
Glad to read that Lentil is home and getting better. Going to the vets is bad enough, but having to stay overnight is awful! Brutie and I have been there before and we don't want to do it again.

Gotta go, Daddy is sitting on the couch and I must go keep him company.

    Pugs and kisses.
    Max and Brutus

  • Congratulations GK...well done!! :-) as well as to Karen and Jan for all the work put in the showing...oh yes Maddox, kudos to you for the bloodline you past on! Frenchies be proud of your red fluff face Brother.
Wish I could have been a fly in the Van when traveling...bet we could have learned a great deal about showing etc etc.
yesterday hubby spent 7 hrs raking all the Hickory trees fluff stuff that has been falling for a while now...when he got done the sun was still out and within an instant, a torrential rain and wind came, sun still shining...going into a Tornado watch, and the yard looked like it never was touched....poor Al ;-)
Kitty came home 2:00am slept on my head again and put both paws on my scalp pulling my hair...this is new lately...don't know what that's about! LOL
I said NO!!!!! and she flew across the our heads and pillows...so funny!
Getting ready to go to the ENT doctor, hope this is the one that can find out why I'm dizzy...it's bringing me down, as hard as I try for it not to affect me :-(
Well Kitty is off to backyard duty...right now the sky is GREEN, not a good sign...

So my good friends, till then,
    Have a wonderful safe weekend...EVERYONE! :-)

    delia & Kitty =^. .^=
