Spring Flowers Are Well On Their Way

Posted by F&S

Spring has finally arrived!  Yesterday was very sunny, quite warm, and oh so pleasant!  It's actually perfect weather for all of the lovely spring blossoms to make their debut.  We Frenchies were out looking for some and we were not disappointed.

Francesca! Come and look at all of these beautiful purple crocus!

The bulbs were planted in this section of lawn about five years ago and they come back thicker every year. They're such a pretty contrast to the still brown lawn.

There's also a really nice display in this shade garden of pale blue pushkinia.

Pushkinia are very economical and burst into an ever-expanding sea of blue each spring. Like the purple crocus, they naturalize easily, which means that they spread freely where they are planted.

Francesca, have you found the bits of dog treats that were thrown over here so that we would cooperate for these photos?

Bingo!!!

Sharkey, let's go check out the big, new daffodil border that was planted last autumn.

There is definitely a lot of plant energy going on here!

Look how the composted ground is cracking as the daffodil bulbs push their way up and through! Now, that's a lot of force.

Some of the daffodils have already sprouted and are getting taller by the day.

And just think, Sharkey - This little time lapse camera is catching all of the growing progress on a daily basis. When all the photos are looped together, the end product will be magnificent! Personally, I can't wait!

  • Hello ladies,
You looked very cute in the middle of those pretty flowers. It is good you didn't take GK along on your adventure as he would have squashed the flowers with his big feet. Hehehehehe
Well, let"s see now. Kirby is probably walking with his dad in the cool mountain breezes. Baby Favor is getting ready to go on a va-ka. Riley is being bad, driving Lucy and Martha crazy so everything is normal there. Poor little Dudley can't go for walks with his mom cause it is raining but don't worry little buddy, the sun will come out again Ruby, how much snow did you get? I think you better dig a bigger hole so you can store the snow in it. Zoe, you are having a great time. We are all curious though, when you lay out to get some sun, do you have a bikini on? Hehehehehehe. Kitty, don't be shy. Invite your new feline friend to come home to meet your parents. Tell them this may be the boy you marry and he may be moving in one day. Missy Chow, you behaving? Cora-belle, how are you doing? Any maple bars in your future? Rebel, we have a grocery store here called Mallards Market. I wonder if they are related to the Mr and Mrs Mallard that just moved in near you. Hehehehehe.

    Love to all,

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
It sure looks different in your photos than my yard. Your #1 and #2 are extra special as I love purple and you both look fab in the purple crocus. Those Daffodils are going to be something when they bloom. I did get a lot of landscaping design done before the snow hit. At present we have about 4 inches and to continue all day. Yahoooooooo! Soon though we will be planting lots of veggies I hear. From the looks of it, Franny and Sharkey, Mama Martha grows enough veggies for New York. Hehehehehe Kitty, I am happy for your new boyfriend, but how will James Dean take this---maybe it is someone he knows. I watched The Dog Whisperer last night (the only show I sit still for awhile for) and there were 2 Frenchies that looked like Zoe and Baby Favor that belonged to a producer in Hollywood. One ate all the cat food and her food too. I like Cesar and he has helped me and my folks lots. Better get back to watching the snow and hopefully some cocoa and popcorn. I wish I knew where to get Maple Bars like you Cora Belle. Have a GEM of a day all.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, Golly! You sweet, beautiful girls sure did a great job showing us how many of your flowers are finally blooming there at the farm! I absolutely love all that you show us there at Martha's beautiful farm! That must have been fun finding those yummy dog treats thrown out there so your delightful photos could be taken! I'll bet GK would have loved it, too! Hope you have another good day!!! Maddox, thanks so much for this delightful comment today about so many of our Glue Squad friends! We did get sun yesterday and I got to go for a walk! It should rain for the rest of this week, however-darn. Kitty, how nice that you have a new boy friend! Ruby, sure sounds like you are having fun with your latest snow! It will also be fun when your planting starts! We never get our veggies planted until May or early June when the weather is much more perfect! Sure hope to hear from the rest of you Glue Squaders! Have a great day! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Ah-ha! Dog treats at work to help with the poses! :)

I wonder if the time lapse camera is all catching all the shenanigans on the farm! Now, that would be worth viewing! :)

Spring like temps in NH! Snow is long gone, just a distant memory. Let's keep it that way!

    Hugs to all!

  • So Sorry, James Dean and Abby I didn't say anything to the two of you this morning. James Dean, I know you have a crush on Kitty but lets face it, most of the time those long distance relationships don't work. And, even if you would meet her in person, you ate a cat. Cat's are hunters. How could you be a hunter if you are walking around next to Kitty and she is wearing that big bell? It would scare away anything that you were hunting. Sorry Kitty, I am just trying to point out the negatives in this relationship so he can get over you quicker. And Abby, maybe you can go on line to a website called
ECatHarmony.com and see If you can find a date for Jsmes Dean, hopefully a local girl.
Ok, that is all I have to say at this time.
    Maddox

  • Seeing you two this morning in the middle of those flowering spring bulbs uplifted my heart. Thanks!

  • Where are all my peeps? Hehehehehe

    Ruby

  • Oh Francesca and Sharkey yesterday it was so nice and sunny that I went out in the yard and I saw a golden color peeking through the leaf mulch, it was ONE Crocus with five flowers, can you believe it? ONE!!!! I planted close to 200 and only a dozen come up...the squirrels ate the bulbs. :-(
Kitty says she still loves JD, but like Maddox pointed out, long distance is so hard and I'm starving for cat affection.
Kitty's fur-boy-toy Cat did not come today because it rained profusely, so much so we had water coming into the house...and that was odd. Anyway Kitty kept going outside sitting in the rain looking for him...I'm glad to see the Kitty CAN have a relationship with another cat, good to see her socialize.
I'm late today because I had a deadline on making a webpage on my Maltese Dog from years ago...will post a link soon.
OK enough for now...sorry for the lateness.
    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • I love these pics! Chuy and I enjoyed the cherry blossoms and the beach this weekend!
