Planting a New Rose Garden

Posted by Francesca

We Frenchies were driving around the farm yesterday and we noticed a lot of activity in the new cutting garden, which used to be the vegetable garden.  The vegetable garden is being moved to the old cutting garden.  In case you aren't confused enough, it seems that the large rose garden from our home in East Hampton was dug up and delivered to our farm in Bedford and is being relocated there.  So many changes are being made!

Francesca, I read on Martha's blog today all about how the roses at our home in East Hampton were dug up.

Do you suppose those roses are being planted in the old vegetable garden, which is now the new cutting garden? Let's drive to the equipment barn and check out what's happening there.

Holy cow! Look at all of those rose bushes! I guess the guys are keeping them in here until they can get them in the ground.

Hi, Pete! We see that you have quite a bit of work to do planting so many roses.

Wow! That sure is a big root ball! It must be a very old rose!

Sharkey, I heard Martha say that most of the roses in East Hampton were planted more than 20 years ago.

It looks like all the rose bushes are being planted inside the new cutting garden alongside the fence.

What an enormous feat! This garden is going to be extraordinary!

  • Good morning ladies,
Your right, lots of work going on at the farm. Roses are very colorful but I don't like the thorns. Why does something that beautiful have something so sharp attached to it? I guess so dogs don't pee on it. Hehehehehe.
Friday again. These Fridays come around so fast. We are supposed to have rain on and off all weekend. I guess I better drag out the dryer in case the deck is wet when I want deck time. I should get a tent. Then I could lay in the back and leave the front open so I could see out but I wouldn't get wet. I will run that by you know who and see what she says. I don't think it will go over to well, what do you all think?
I hope everyone has a good weekend. Cora-Belle, where are you? I miss you. I worry about you. So does Karen. Report in please. You know, we members of the Glue Squad stick together. Zoe, try to have a good weekend. Kitty, don't eat animals. Remember, whoever you eat has a family. Then they will have to get assistance and then the tax payers have to support them, etc. I think I am thinking way too much this morning. Hehehehe
Enjoy the weekend each and every one of the Glue Squad. You know who you are.

  • Good Morning F & S

Really??? Moving rose bushes so the kids won't get scratched??? Parents today I feel are crazy - how did our human parents survive growing up? My mom rode her bike behind the insect spraying trucks, played down in the woods, got dirty hands and didn't wash every 30 seconds and carry hand sanitizer. She drank water out of a hose - now you have to have bottled water, drop your ice cream in the dirt no big deal - wipe the dirt off and continue eating. She survived just fine. OK I'm off my soap box, hope all your roses survive the move.

I got in trouble yesterday I got a roll of paper towels - oh SOOOO much fun. It was sitting there at the top of the steps with the windex and it was calling me - ZOE ZOE come play with me - so I did. It was great because unlike TP the sheets stayed together as I ran around the house ;) Looked like a white banner down the steps and into the family room. Oh Dad was pissed!!

Super Nanny came over for directions on the new pool heater. She had that squirt bottle with her so we won't bark. I have to figure a way to chew that up before she comes back tomorrow.

Well guys I'm outta here for a week, no computer time for old Zoe. No just Super Nanny and hopefully some cheese curls. Have a great weekend!!!

  • I am back.
Zoe, I hope your mom and dad come back on the DW at some point today to read this. I would like to say this. They know you have, shall we say an addiction to paper products, correct? Sooooooooooooooooooo, who left the paper towels out in the open to entice you? That is entrapment and not fair. And why does super nanny have a squirt bottle to stop you guys from barking? You are dogs. It is natural for dogs to bark. If super nanny talks, get one of the boys to squirt her. Hehehehehehehehe. Sorry humans, but Zoe is a Glue Squad member and we support our own. Just say'in
    Maddox
PS - Ann, your still my assistant aren't you? Who loves ya? Maddox does. Hehehehehe

  • Hello Girls,
This rose bush moving thing can be for the guys. Thank goodness Martha did not call Lady Ruby Gem's World renowned landscape design company. You see, it is not in our union policy to accept rose bush relocation for the very reason of thorns as Maddox stated they have, and so harmful. I would never subject my crew to getting hurt. Now Martha's crew know the special way to handle these roses. My crews are more into dirt relocation, sod relocation, and so far I have had a few requests for trumpet vine removal and lavender relocation. Anyway you look at it, a lot of hard work. They will be beautiful.

Now for the Glue Squad weekend--sorry for the rain Maddox. The tent is a fab idea. Zoe, I am going to miss you lots, but I think the paper towel incident was your last bit of fun for a while. But maybe cheese curls?? Now Baby Favor we didn't hear from you on your birthday, so I bet you are still at the place you were born, while Mom and Dad are in New Orleans. I hope it was a good one. Missy, what is new? Is it nice bench lounging weather there? Now Dudley, I hope the rain, rain, has gone away and coming another day and you and your fab Mom get out and about. I bet when she goes on her Costo runs you get tubs of treats!! Abby and Jimmy, is Mom practicing her running for a race this weekend. She must be careful. Riley, Martha and Lucy, I bet you are gardening with Mom this weekend--no fires please!!Kitty, have fun with the new friends, and Delia, how was the MRI? Sonya, lots of hugs. Rebel, I know you will miss Mom and Dad, but you know they always return and Dr. Becky loves you. And Jake and Molly, if you are leaving soon, have fun and tell us about all your new friends. See, before my forever home, it would have been nice to be free more and then I wouldn't have cage teeth, that are worn down. You have great parents. I wish I could see what you looked like and you would join the Glue Squad e-mail list. It is never too late. When Zoe's Mom returns you can send your e-mail and birthdays to her and she will put them where they belong. I have 3 cousins and they are all Boxers in every color. Well, Glue Squad it is time for Ruby here to get ready for.....FUN FRIDAY. Yep, that's what it is called around here. Have a GEM of a weekend all and for those on vacation, I will look forward to your adventures.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Morning Girls, GK & Glue Squad - Can't wait to see all the beautiful roses once they bloom. Mom has a couple of bushes she planted last year and they were real pretty. Maybe this year, she will be able to cut a couple to bring inside. I've been trying to stay out of trouble this week; maybe a slip or two but I'm still a youngster, hehehe. Maddox, I think the idea of a tent is great so you can stay on the deck longer when it's wet; just give Karen the sad eye look. Zoe, sounds like you had fun with the paper towels. Now let's see, you need to keep an eye on where she puts the bottle & be real fast when S.N. puts the squirt bottle down. Just one little pinhole may help BUT it will leave a puddle somewhere. Rebel, how is Mr. & Mrs. Mallard? Baby Favor, did you have a nice birthday? Ruby, do you still have some snow; how is Mom doing? Dudley Do Right, has Mom finished her outside work? Kitty, how's your new friend? Abby & James Dean, what have you been up? Cora Belle, are you okay? Hi Riley, Martha, Lucy, hope I didn't leave anyone out. Have a nice weekend.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • Good morning ladies & hard working men, too!
Holy cow! Well, at least you will be able to enjoy all the beautiful roses, right?!?
I don't mind the rose bushes we have or the thorny barberry either. I feel protected by them somehow.
Hey Momma Ann, who did leave the paper towel around for Zoe to get? Hmmmm.
Mimi is going shopping this weekend and so in about an hour I will be going to live at Dr Becky's kennel. Talk about barking! I'm an only child & kind of quiet, but boy do I join in with the rest of the crew! I'll be all pooped out when I get picked up on Sunday.
    Have a great weekend everybody!
    your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, Thank you sweet girls for sharing how those roses from East Hampton are being planted in the new cutting garden at the Bedford farm! My Mom just read and commented on Martha's blog about removing those roses to protect her wonderful grandchildren from the stickers when they visit East Hampton and run all over the yards! My Mom agreed with Martha and will love seeing the roses at the farm! I agree that that new garden at your farm will look marvelous! Hope you have a great weekend and say Hi to GK for me again! Maddox and Zoe, it was nice and fascinating to read your comments today and hope you stay dry Maddox and that you have more fun doing what you like do Zoe! I only pee on the grass so I don't touch any stickers and I think it's nice to protect Jude and Truman from those rose stickers! Sure will miss you next week, Zoe! Can't wait to hear from all the rest of you buddies, especially Cora-Bell today! We are having rain, also! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • "I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden" :)

Ooh I bet the Rose Garden will be beautiful! :)

I too believe change is good.

I hope Pete didn't get poked by any thorns! Ouch! :)

I once had a rose bush, years year ago, when my thumb was green. It has since browned! :)

    Happy Friday to all..

  • Hi everyone! Thank you so much for all your wonderful birthday wishes and special thank you to Ruby and her Mom for my card. I love it. Mom and Dad got back from New Orleans just in time for my birthday. I didn't have a big party or anything like that, what I did have was a whole lot of snuggle time with them, which is my favorite thing anyway (well, that and baby rabbits.) Auntie Ellen has promised to throw me a belated birthday party next month after Mom gets home from all the dog shows she's going to.
Francesca Baby-- I have an interdigital cyst on my foot right now too. I don't get them a lot, but when I do Mom uses The Blissful Dog's Boo Boo Butter, which is made of all sorts of awesome organic good stuff, on it and I wear one of those balloon-type booties for a while to keep me from licking (not too long, though, because then you can get yeast infections on top of the bacterial ones, and that's not a good thing.)
The sad things going on in Boston have gotten our particular attention because a couple of years ago Millie and I went with Mom and Dad to live in Boston for a short while. Mom used to spend a lot of time on that street where the big explosions happened, but fortunately no one she knew from there got hurt.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
    A bientot!!

  • Rose Bush moves doesn't sound like a fun job Frenchie Pups.

yep Zoe that's what I thought..."moving rose bushes so the kids won't get scratched" what a wimpy world this will be! Oh, and you have heard about the mother that doesn't want children to share...I'm glad I won't be here to see the results on that :-(

Kitty caught a small woodpecker and brought it to me, when I told her NO, she dropped the bird and it hobbled away...she went after it and pulled feathers out I grabbed her neck and took her inside, the bird then flew off to the ground and another woodpecker came to check on it...in a few minutes it flew off, minus some feathers...Kitty went and killed another Chippy to get back at me - ha ha

I didn't go and get the MRI because I forgot, that's the reason for getting it besides the dizziness. Now will reschedule, thanks for asking.

JD, Kitty's friend came and spent the night again in her tent...the nerve! she says she still Loves You! :-)

Oh and Love to Ruby, Maddox, DDR, Cora Belle, Missy Chow, Rebel, Sharkey and Francesca and all those that I missed ;-)

Love and God's Blessings to All, with all that is going on in this sad-state of the world.

    delia & Kitty =^- -^=

  • Happy Saturday Morning F, S and Glue Squad

Just wanted to say goodbye and I'll talk to you all in a week.

And MOM LEFT the paper towels on the step Maddox you are so right!! SN uses the squirt bottle when we start to run around the house like crazy or I decide to attack the big guys. It also sits on the night stand because we can't jump up on the bed and wake up Nicole at night. We know the drill so it does not get use too much :)

    Have a great weekend!!!

    Zoe
