More About Swapping the Gardens

Posted by F&S

Wednesday's blog was all about the old vegetable garden and how it's going to be swapped with, what has been, the cutting garden.  We Frenchies decided to cruise down to that garden and check on the progress.  This swapping of gardens is quite a production!

So many of you Glue Squad members enjoyed my portrait on Wednesday's blog, I thought I would post another angle. Say, Francesca, let's drive down to what has been the cutting garden and see what's going on.

The cutting garden is right next to the chicken coop.

Hey cluckers! There will be some big changes going on around here.

I am standing in the old cutting garden, soon to be the new vegetable garden. I guess you won't be pecking around in here anymore.

Ryan and the guys have been really busy digging up all of the lily bulbs so they can be transplanted in the new cutting garden, which is the old vegetable garden. Ryan seems to have found some weed mesh barrier buried quite deeply.

This way, the new garden will, hopefully, have organized beds with like varieties.

Those lily bulbs are quite large. I can't wait to see how they grow in their new home!

Ryan is taking good care of the bulbs by covering them over so they don't get scorched by the sun before they can be transplanted. I can almost smell how fragrant the flowers will be.

  • I too loved your profile on Wednesday's blog and glad to see the multi angle 'look'! :)

Gee, a magic wand would come in handy to help with the switcher-roo of gardens. A quick 'swish swish swish' and voila, gardens moved! :)

    That is 'wishful' thinking..

    Happy Weekend!

  • Good Morning F & S

Moving the cutting garden looks like lots of work. Really you have to remove all those bulbs??? I'd say just go buy flowers when you want fresh ;)

Yesterday was a true sign that warm weather is just around the corner. Dad opened the pool!! It doesn't feel like spring but the back yard is starting to look like it - keep your paws crossed it warms up soon.

Today my mom is going to the Phillies home opener. It's suppose to rain but she is still going, she said she hasn't missed a home opener since they opened the new stadium. She is crazy if you ask me - sitting in the cold rain watching baseball?? Why not sit on your comfy recliner with me on your lap??? Go figure that one out...........

Well Glue Squad and everyone here at the DW have a wonderful weekend!!

    Zoe

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
You look so cool in these close up shots Sharkey. A regular Miss Runway. Very photogenic. This garden moving sounds like work, but will be beautiful I am sure. Mom says your gardens were gorgeous before, so I can only imagine their futures. Where will the chickies go? A lot of baseball goings on this weekend. The Rockies are having their opener today too!! It was in the 70's here yesterday and I didn't want to come in last night. Just wanted to listen to the birds and lay in the yard. Mom's therapy is doing very well and her discs that were ready to rupture are not so painful. So more walks and playing on the weekend for Ruby. Yahoooooooo! Well, everyone, can hardly wait to hear your weekend plans. Have a GEM of a weekend.
    Love and Licks,
    Ruby

  • Good morning ladies,
Hey Sharkey! Another great pose, love it! So dignified.
The guys sure are earning their pay, aren't they? I bet the chickens are going to miss the vegetables. I wonder if chickens like flowers. We'll just have to wait & see.
It is so nice at our house today. Yesterday I helped Papa cut down the cattails at the shoreline. Now new ones can grow tall & strong for the red-wing blackbirds to build their nest.
Mimi took the grandchildren to see the "Croods" yesterday. She was saying how much fun they had and how good the movie was.
Papa's b-day party is Sunday, so Mimi will bake his favorite giant pound cake. She only bakes it only once a year 'cause it's sooooo bad for the diet. I say "so what" just enjoy it!
I'll check back in later to see what's happening.
    Have a great weekend everybody.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Oh yes another lovely angle of your sweet face...I like the lighting, the shadows, it makes for a great painting...
Boy those Gardners at your place sure do a lot of work...and to have you two Frenchies supervising it, is the frosting on the cake!

Yesterday we had a bunch of Turkey Hens come in the yard, they are so funny to watch...what a sight when they fly off, they make so much noise with their wings, one hen ran into the woods, she looked like the road runner ;-)

Weekend is upon us, and I have to start Spring cleaning earnestly :-(

Kitty is catting around, she has a new friend that came this morning an unaltered male cat (what is wrong with people??) he seems friendly...they already had it out who was boss here.

    Have a great weekend!

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Well the weekend is here and I will be leaving for a couple weeks. I’ll miss the updates on the garden change, but the R&R must go on. Hehehehe You work in the garden; I’ll take the R&R. It was rainy yesterday and cold. Only made it into the high 40’s. Should be better today but some more cold weather coming on Monday. I’ll be in the mountains where it will be almost at the freezing level during the nights. Love those cold nights and warm days. But I love those long walks with my Daddy most of all. Long walks, the mountains, cool air, springtime, Daddy, and me; nothing could be better. Well maybe a nap once in a while wouldn’t hurt.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi Girls & Glue Squad - Sharkey, you really know how to catch the camera's eye. Both of your pictures this week were great, I don't think, no, I know I couldn't sit still long enough for this kind of picture pose. Well, another week has almost ended, and no special plans for the weekend for me. I think I'll try to stay out of trouble; maybe.... I got myself into the doghouse the other night; let's just say countersurfing should not have been on the top of my "to do list", Mom was not happy with me then she had to call Dad too. Kirby, have a great vacation, Ruby, glad Mom is feeling better. Hope all my buddies are doing great and looking forward to a fun weekend.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • I am glad Miss Martha has so many people to help make things happen at her houses. And my Francesca Baby and Sharkey to supervise. I try to supervise Mom, but it doesn't go as well. On the other hand, it is still so cold here that Mom has not put away her winter coat yet, so I guess she has an excuse.
Rumor has it that Millie, Roxy, and I will be going to Camp Dave next week and Mom and Dad will be going to New Orleans. I hope they bring me back some beads!
    A bientot!

  • HEY,
There was only 1 comment when I posted this morning and that was around 6:15am. I just checked back on the other comments and mine isn't here. I did it early so i would have a chance to tell Kirby to have a great trip before he left. Now I am sad because he missed my message. When I was done I pressed the Submit Comment and it said I did a duplicate message??? I also said that I liked Sharkey's new picture but I liked the other one better. In the head on shot she is saying "I am Sharkey Stewart and proud of it". And then I said that it would be nice to have a special blog once a week that focused on a different staff worker each time. We could hear all about them, if they have families, what they do on the farm and most important, if they have pets, and if so what kind and the names of their pets. I am bummed that it did not go through. I hope this one does.
    Enjoy the weekend.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Hello weekend post. Happy Birthday to Rebel's Papa! I'm sure he'll love his giant pound cake.

Kirby Bear have a great trip to the mountains with your Mommy & Daddy. I know you'll love the cooler weather but we're going to miss you!

Hello everyone, hope a great weekend is being had by all!

  • Hey you two,
You'll have to show us how the lilies are doing in their new home this summer.
