When Will Spring Finally Arrive?

Posted by F&S

Just the other day, we had to get on our warm winter coats to go for a nice springtime walk.  We keep getting snow and it's nearly April.  We Frenchies decided to go and see what the Donkeys had to say about the weather.

Wait up, Francesca! I just want to scratch my back along the paddock fencing. It feels so good!

Come on! Let's go see our friends, the miniature donkeys.

There they are and they saw us coming.

Say there Billie, Rufus, and Clive. When do you suppose this winter weather will finally be over?

We Frenchies are really tired of all the snow that keeps falling. It's springtime already!

I bet you're looking forward to having some green grass to munch on.

When the grass finally does start to grow, you'll have to watch that you don't eat too much of it, like you did last summer.

Hey, Franny - Remember when the donkeys got too fat?

Just remember, especially you, Billie, - overeating is dangerous for both horses and donkeys! An increase in weight can change the way an animal stands, putting too much pressure on the heels, leading to foundering!

  • Hello girls and DW peeps,
Gee, yesterday was a strange day. On a good note, there was a birthday party happening. But then the weird stuff. Bees were abducted, mini crop circle holes appearing in someone's yard ( I didn't mention Riley's name at all) an arsonist trying to set a shed on fire, just to mention a few things. What is going on? It must be something in the air. I think the snowflakes have some kind of foreign particles in them that make weird things happen. I guess things will get back to normal when the snow goes away till the end of the year. Cute cute donks. I agree with the girls. I hope they don't over eat this year. We don't want them to get sick.
Well, all the snow from yesterday is almost gone here so I am headed to the deck.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Some strange things going on around here too yesterday. Things started off just fine but as the day went on, things started to happen. First off, some of the porch roof out back started to come off. The winds were up to around 40 or so at times. Only the edges came loose. Then there was some loud banging at the neighbors house. Must have been something blowing around. At least that’s what Daddy said. Then the phone started ringing and nobody there. And to top it off, it was below freezing this morning. Where did the springtime go??? Daddy said not to worry, it would be back in a few days then I would complain about the heat.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • You are all so adorable (that's donkeys included)! I hope spring comes very soon too!

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
You girls are such good friends to the donks. If they overeat do they get muffin top like Dad said I got over my b-day? Spring is in the air for sure. Even though there is still snow on the ground, I was up helping Dad get ready for his ice fishing trip at 3:30 and what to my wondering eyes did appear--not Santa and his reindeer, but a skunk. Good thing we turn on the lights before I do my patrol, as she wasn't too smart and couldn't remember how to get out of the yard. Mom tried to scare her off and she was panicked. I was going BA NER CO to get out. I never did, but it took her 10 minutes to dig under the snow at the gate. We are happy there are no other skunk tales than that. Kitty are you missing your Dad while he is away? I tried sitting on Dad's lap to keep him from leaving, but it didn't work. Oh well, maybe some of that good Rainbow Trout when he comes home. Abby, was it a great birthday yesterday? Hope you were spoiled and maybe had a burger and banana bread like me. Riley, Martha and Lucy, what is going on? Fires and gardening oh my!!! Maddox how did everyone do at the dog show?Baby Favor, Rebel, Dudley,Kirby, Cora Belle, Jake and Molly, James Dean, Zoe, Missy and allllllllll my buddies, have a GEM of a day. Sonya and Delia hugs too!!
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Good morning ladies!
Luv the donkeys. I sure would like to have a romp with them (and you two).
Well, we officially had a foot of snow, not too much for our friend Ruby in Colorado but a lot for here. Papa cleared an area for me by the front porch. In and out, that's me on these snowy days. The sun is out today and warmer weather is promised for the end of the week. Hooray!
Hang in there Kirby Bear, I sure am glad you didn't blow away! There is sure to be a lot of funny noises around our house the next few days with the snow slipping off the rooftops.
    That's all for now.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Here's one more Happy Birthday for Abby. 11 years old, holy cow! That's great.
    your pal,
    Rebel

  • Me and the donks are done with snow! :)

Aw, poor Billie. Don't tease her about her extra fluff. Sometimes us girls get into snacking and can't stop! :)

I'm sure she'll be more mindful when grazing this summer. I know I will! :) hee hee

Another sunny day in NH. A bit chilly, but the snow is melting.

    Happy Tuesday to all!

  • Good Morning Girls!
Mom read your blog to us this morning while she drink her coffee. We want to get donkeys too...and a paddock. Mom said it is not a good idea since we live in town. We have squirrels that live in our old maple trees and all our neighbors have cats so we are always busy keeping an eye on them. Mom is getting ready to clean up the flower beds and move some plants around. The sun is shining! It is turning out to be a perfect day to spend in the backyard supervising mom's gardening. She is putting on her special garden shoes...it must be time to go! Keep in touch. We love hearing from you.
    xoxo Puddles and Flower

  • Hello Everybody - F&S, GK, all the donks and all the GS buddies: Well we made it through another day without untoward effects! We were out and about yesterday evening with Mom, no fires, nothing very exciting! Mom says she is going to buy two barking collars for Lucy and Riley - although I'm no slouch at barking as well. We were playing frisbee last night - Lucy is excellent at it, she can catch them in mid-air and even can catch them by jumping and snatching them out of the air! I just like to watch and bark in support, and Riley just likes to run after Lucy. We were a crazy bunch last night. Mom likes to get us out and running cause then everyone sleeps really well! We have horses, llamas, alpacas and some buffalo just up the road, along with lots of goats and sheep around the corner. We'd love to be friends with the sheep, they somehow just speak to us - we are Scottish sheep herders to begin with, so I know we could do a great job, but lambing season is upon us and we would only upset everyone, so ... no sheep for us. We'll just have to herd the cats and make sure that we keep them in line. They don't much appreciate being herded, and sometimes give us the paw (not finger) for all our troubles.
Its nice and sunny out today, and getting warmer, so I think Spring is on the way. Easter is coming soon, I wonder if you can herd the Easter Bunny? Love to all, Martha (writing), LUcy and Riley boy.

  • Hi Girls & Glue Squad Buddies, Finally some computer time, doesn't Mom know I need my time to post and say hi to everyone, jeez!! Both of you girls have been busy this week checking out things on the farm; the bees, today the donks and might I say they are looking pretty fit. You're right, they can't too much. How are the kitties doing? We haven't seen them for a while. A belated Happy Birthday to Abby, sure hope you had a nice birthday celebration, did you get to petsmart to pick out a toy? Zoe, hope you and your family are doing okay, think happy thoughts :. Maddox, I've been doing pretty good, if I say so myself; but just had a slight slip on Sunday however, it wasn't totally my fault. Let's just say, I may need a section of "Ruby fence". Ruby, did Mom take pictures of your birthday? Dudley Do Right, hope Uncle Tom is doing much better, make sure he does what he is suppose to do, Rebel, don't feel bad, Dad had to do the same for me when we had our snowstorms this year but I supervised to make sure he cleared enough snow. Kirby, don't worry, good weather will be here soon for you. Cora Belle, how are you doing? Hi James Dean, Kitty, Martha, Luch Riley, Baby Favor. Well, better run, the sun is still shining :) .

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow

  • Oh goody, Donk Day!!! guess the donks will have to be timed each day on how long they will enjoy the new green grass! F & S you guys are so loyal to the Donks ;-)

Abby I hope your Birthday was a great fun day!!!! :-) Riley, Martha, Lucy, Ruby, JD, Cora Bell, Maddox, Kirby, Zoe, Missy Chow, DDR, Rebel and anyone I might have missed, and og course all my DW Glue Squad friends...I hope all is well and that Spring will be showing soon, although they say it's here, I don't believe it since there's still two feet of snow on our lawn. :-(

Hubby says it snowed yesterday in Tennessee while golfing, he's not a happy camper.

Kitty is romping in the snowy woods, it's a bit warmer today...43 degrees, so she's enjoying the outdoors.

    Hugs,
    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • ...Yikes, I missed Abbys birthday..Happy Belated birthday!!..I will be taking a couple days off...talk to you all later...love, Cora-Belle
