Time Lapse and Daffodils

Posted by F&S

Recently, we posted a blog about a time lapse camera aiming at the new and gigantic daffodil border at the farm.  Reading your comments, we Frenchies realized that there was some confusion about how this all works.  Maybe this blog will clear things up.

Well, it's a shelter for a time lapse camera. Previously, this house was used for a time lapse video camera, which needed to be plugged in, thus the hole for the power cord.

Here's the little battery-powered camera, which I had to upload all the photos it took yesterday onto the computer.

Now, I just have to get the roof off and place the camera back inside so it can resume its job.

Easier said than done!

Maybe if I just think real hard about it....

Voila! And the camera is now in place behind the plexiglass window. There's something to be said about the power of positive thinking.

Sharkey, I see you're positioning the camera to aim at this new 3,000 bulb daffodil bed.

You know, I noticed that the daffodils were starting to spout, but now they're covered with snow AGAIN!

Oh well, what are you going to do? Eventually, the bulbs will emerge and put on quite a show for this little camera to capture. All who see the display will be awed!

  • Maybe the camera will capture other antics happening around the farm! :)

Another 8 inches of snow fell in NH yesterday. Grrr!

On a happier note, today is the first day of Spring! Hooray!

I've never seen time lapsed footage so it will be interesting to see what transpires.

    Happy Wednesday to all!

  • Hello there,
I can't stay on long. Karen said she has some things she has to do on the computer this morning. Darn. One of these days I am going to try and talk her into getting my own computer. Yeah right, fat chance of that happening. Oops, dirty looks coming my way. I better type faster. Hehehehehehe
This time lapse thing is very intriguing. I could see many uses for it. It is amazing the things they come up with. I think they should invent dog paw keyboards for computers. Do you know how hard it is for a dog like me with a big paw to type my comments for the DW? I think I need an assistant. Hey wait, I have an assistant. Miss Ann, where are you? Oh geez, I getting the look again from you know who. I better get off for now.
    Later gang,
Maddox, the poor misunderstood chow who got kicked off the computer this morning

  • Good Morning F & S

Mom said she would love a camera in our house - I don't think SO!!! I'd be getting time outs all the time.

We are all really sad at my house, Precious didn't eat her dinner last night which is not a good sign. Mom cooked her ground beef with rice this morning and she didn't get out of bed, this is so not like my big sis. I'm going to check on her she is in bed with Dad right now. I'll cheer her up tell a few jokes and give her a few kisses :)

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
First, I must say to Zoe, that I am praying and so is our family for Precious and no pain. Mom is crying and says she knows what your family is going through and little buddy Zoe, give Precious our love. Basil is watching over her.

This time lapse camera seems very similar to Dad's night camera where he is catching the skunks and raccoons. What is the stuff you told Zoe's Mom to put around the yard to get the skunks gone? Was it moth balls? Let Mom know the ins and outs Glue Squad. She is on a skunk be gone mission. We had a very serious family meeting that me, Ruby Gem, was allowed to put my 2 cents in on. You see, Mom's bulging discs in her neck mean lots of treatment or something where needles and medicine go in called an epidural -----yucko, you know I don't like needles. Dad and I put a stop to her craft show every year. She has to do hundreds of scarves and jewelry and that can't be good on the old neck. So....from here on out Mom is just doing her card business to clients and galleries and Warrior Prince Biscuits for rescues of course. So, you know what that means? More time for Mom and I to party and play. Yahoo!!! This isn't just good for her "pain in the neck", but for Ruby to have fun, fun, fun. Dad knew it was time for this decision and I backed him big time. More Mom time for Ruby. Double Yahoo!!!!
Have a GEM of a day all my buddies. Abby, by the way, how did Mom do in her big running race over the weekend?
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Morning Girls & Glue Squad Buddies, Can't wait to see the daffodils start to pop up. We need spring colors real fast as I'm tired of seeing all white. And yet we had another storm yesterday and it was a messy mix of everything, temps in the 20's this morning maybe reaching 40. I know spring has officially arrived this morning; but it certainly doesn't look like it. Zoe, sending happy thoughts to Precious, I'm sure your jokes and kisses will help her. Maddox, I really think you should have your own computer; after all, you are a very busy chow being the Professor of the Glue Squad, Ruby, your big day is coming, just around the corner :) , hope your Mom is feeling better, Rebel, how are the ducks doing?, Dudley Do Right, is Mom still working on outside stuff?, Riley, you little devil you, don't get into the Easter chocolates, you don't want to have another episode and Mom really won't be happy. Abby & James Dean, sounds like Mom was real busy at work the other night, Cora Belle, did you get your maple bars? Kitty, don't make your Mom worry by staying out too long at night, she loves you. Kirby Bear, glad your spot is healing and your fur is growing back. When do you leave for your trip? Hi, Martha, Lucy, Baby Favor, hope I didn't miss anyone. Welcome, Angela. Better run, more deck time to enjoy.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • Good morning Sharkey,
Wow, you sure are talented! I know I am not alone when I say the I can hardly wait to see the time lapsed pictures. We have daffodils coming up in weird places. Mimi thought she had pulled out all the bulbs before construction started, but she missed some. The landscapers missed some, too 'cause there are daffodils growing up through the middle of the lace cap hydrangea! We'll have to fix that as soon as we can. We're in single digits tonight, brrrrr.
We'll be sending our best thoughts and prayers to Precious today. Give her a kiss for me, Zoe.
Ruby, you help your Mom by being a good girl.
I'm being booted off the computer, too. Mimi has to get to work (our home laptop is coming apart & doesn't want to talk to our new tower thing).
    Til tomorrow
    your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hope the snow melts soon and we can see the progression growth of the daffodils.

Precious I hope you will be alright, please eat something...I will keep you in my prays...

    COOOOLD today, below -0 brrrrrrrr
you know I'm looking for that weather predicting Groundhog, I need to talk with him :-(

    Have a nice day everyone!

  • Hello and woofs to Francesca,Sharkey,Zoe,Precious,Maddox, Dudley,Ms.Chow and all my glue squad buddies,
Zoe, I am sending you and your family special pug/peke/frenchie hugs today.I am so sorry that Precious is not feeling well. Herman and Prince Basil are watching closely and will be there to comfort you if need be. The glue squad is always here for you too.
Sharkey, did you use a ladder to get up there to put the camera in the box??? Those pictures will be great fun to see in the future.
We are sending special hugs to Lynn and Ruby too and hope she feels better soon. Maybe she can do jewelry for herself so she can still enjoy the craft.
Missy Chow, how are you doing up in the snow belt? Maddox, keep your chin up, spring is here! Cora belle, are you barking at anyone today? How's my friend Kitty? How's Rebel, seen any cute ducks?

    GO SPRING!!! Abby the pug/peke/frenchie

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Yep Maddox, I know how hard it is to type on the keyboard with big feet. I’m getting better at it every day. The only problem is that I can only use the computer for a few minutes each day. At this rate, I may be up to three words a minute just any day now. Hehehehehehe I don’t know how to get rid of skunks but one time, while Mommy and Daddy were sitting by a campfire, a skunk came along. It walked between Daddy and the fire, stopped and started to climb up in Daddy’s lap then just looked at him. Mommy said that she didn’t think she could sit still and Daddy told her, “If you make one move you are a dead woman.” They sat real still and the skunk walked away without making any smell at all. My suggestion then is; just leave them alone and they will go away, sometime.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Everyone:
We are all sending very good thoughts to Precious, healing and wellness thoughts that will go right to where they are needed.
Ruby, I hope your mom is feeling better, she is such a talented lady, hopefully the lessening of her workload will help her neck, and of course leave more time for Ruby play.
Today is the first day of Spring, and while its very sunny out its not very warm yet. Last year this time it was a really warm 65 degrees out! We were sitting out on the deck enjoying the beautiful weather, well at least Martha and I were, Riley was only a glimmer in his Dad's eye! I'm kind of in the doghouse today, I got really aggressive with Riley this morning, he's always bugging me, trying to take over the alpha leader thing, and I think I really scared him good. Sam broke up the melee, no one got hurt, but Riley was scared to death. I should feel sorry, but I don't, he's always sniffing at me, I'm fixed for goodness sake, but you can't tell him anything yet. He's staying away from me now (for a while), but Sam says I have to play nice ...... I'm perhaps not the nicest girl at the moment. Ah well, everyone will calm down and all will be OK again soon. Love to all my GS buddies, we'll be back soon. Martha, Lucy (writing) and Riley boy.

  • I'll look forward to that footage, Sharkey and Francesca! Thanks for sharing!

  • ....time lapse cameras are cool..Precious, just rest and think pleasant thoughts and I will bark and act naughty just for you..so you don't have to worry about that dept..take care, my buddy, love, Cora-Belle p.s. I will eat a maple bar for you
