Action at the Stable

Posted by F&S

After our last visit with the donkeys, we continued on down to the stable where there was much activity going on.  Linda, the farrier, was visiting, working on the horses' spring shoes.  And Meindert was all saddled up ready to go out riding with Betsy.

And speaking of the Friesians, from the way Betsy's all bundled up, she must be getting ready to go for a ride on Meindert. It's really cold today!

So, Meindert. I see that you are getting those special boots Betsy ordered for you a while back put on your rear hooves.

I'm sorry that you suffer from arthritis in your rear legs, but Betsy says that the boots make you more comfortable.

Francesca, isn't it great to see Meindert feeling so energetic? He told me he can't wait to go out for a ride.

  • Hello girls,
How old is Meindert? Actually, how old are the other horses as well? It is hard to believe that GK rode on top of one of the horses with Martha when he was a puppy. They sure are magnificent looking, aren't they? Hey Sharkey and Francesca, I just had an idea. Martha should have saddle bags made like they have on motorcycles and then you girls could ride on each side of the horse with Betsy or Martha. That would be awesome. And you could wear little goggles and little helmets. I can see it now. Hehehehehe
It is after 1:00am so I better get to bed so I can get up early to see what the Glue Squad members have to say
    Later,
    Maddox

  • Maybe the horses would have less arthritis if wheat was removed from their diet. It works for humans!

  • Hi Sharkey & Francesca --
Thanks for telling us all about the action at the stable today. I hope Meindert enjoyed his walk and that he felt nice and comfortable with his new boots.

  • Morning Girls & Glue Squad Friends,- how nice of you girls to check on the horses today and spend time with Linda plus gives brings treats to you. Life is good! Betsy looks like she is ready for a looong ride and take in the fresh air to with Meindert, happy the boots are working for him. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and almost seasonal temperatures, I think spring is making it's true appearance, yeah!!! That means more outside time for me with little or no snow in my area :) . Hope everyone is doing okay today, have to run. Mom has to finish shopping for the weekend, Dad is working and I have to go on patrol duty, my job is never finished. Will check back later.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow

  • Meindert boy, you look great and it's a "Good thing" you belong to Martha and have Betsy taking good care of your arthritis...could you imagine if not? I use to give Yucca powder for arthritis to one of my horses and it helped. I wish I had Betsy's job, I miss my horses so much and all that goes with having horses, it kept me young.

Hey Francesca and Sharkey, the next time you go to the barn give the horses a love-lick for me and Kitty. :-)

Hubby called and said he's just miserable golfing in the cold, I have a feeling he will be home early :-(

I fooled Kitty into not waking me up at 5:00am to eat, I put a small bowl of dry food in the bedroom (there's one in the kitchen all the time)it worked, I got to sleep 1 1/2 hour without her pawing my face or pulling my hair, although her crunching the dry food did wake me up each time...but at least I figured something out. he-he ;-)

    Happy day everyone!

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Maddox you should be ashamed calling the girls old bags. What’s that Daddy; read it again. Oh I see, “saddle bags” not old bags. Glad I got that straightened up. That’s what I get for reading things while I’m sleepy. Springtime isn’t here yet; still down to freezing this morning. The cat, yep Mommy has a cat, had to spend the night inside last night because of the cold. He stays in a big cage, as I call it, so I won’t chase him. I can see it now. Me right behind him as we run through the house knocking things over. Then again, not a pretty picture. I guess it’s better for him that he stays in there while he is inside.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Good morning ladies,
Mimi would love Betsy's job, too. She misses having a horse. I think Maddox's idea of sidesaddles for little dogs sounds great!
Hey, Delia, great idea to put down a snack for Kittie. Helps you and keeps Kittie happy.
Oh, Betsy looks kinda scary in her cold weather helmet. It would be a great halloween costume...
Sunny and warmer today. Lots of snow melting. Gotta get it cleared away for the Easter egg hunt. The grandkids are moving this weekend so all the adults are thinking hard to make sure Easter Sunday will be sort of normal. We'll have Eli & I hear that there may be a Saturday trip to Springfield to visit President Lincoln's home, tomb & museum. That will give me lots of quiet time for a nap..speaking of naps, it's time now.
    Have a great day everybody.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
And hello to you Meindert. You are one handsome dude. It is certainly great that Mama Martha and all the staff take such great care of your arthritis and you are showing improvement.

It was nice yesterday and more of the same today. All the flowers are starting to peek through. Think I will have to be the new landscape artist. Do you guys do that too, rearrange the yard?

Sara was over yesterday and I got lots of loving. Hugs and love, always a plenty here. Have a GEM of a day all.

    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Hi everyone!
Mom is always happy to see stories from the stables; she loves horses and since she can't have one, she likes to read about people who do! Give Meindert a kiss from her sometime, won't you please Francesca Baby?
We realize we have missed a whole lot of Glue Squad things, but you know how it can be sometimes. So consider everyone happy birthdayed and try not to be naughtyed and thank you for the good wishesed from us :)

  • Meindert is such a beautiful majestic horse! :)

And how do you measure a horse's height? Isn't done with hands?

Aw, sorry to hear Meindert has a bout with arthritis. Kind of nifty boots though! :)
