What's In The Odd Little House?

Posted by F&S

Walking around the farm the other day, we spotted a new addition to the grounds.  Because we Frenchies have insatiable curiosities, we just had to go and investigate.

Sharkey, there's a funny little structure positioned near the shade garden.

It appears to be some sort of house perched on a sawed section of a log.

What do you suppose it's for?

Do you think a squirrel family lives in it? Wouldn't we be lucky!

I don't know about squirrels, Franny. I certainly don't get a whiff of any of those varmints.

Francesca, I'm beginning to remember something, however.

Last autumn, there was a very large bulb planting project that was photographed for the magazine. I believe 3,000 daffodils were planted here.

I bet there's a time-lapse camera inside this house taking pictures of when things start to sprout.

Sharkey, if that's the case, they're going to be some pretty exciting photos! To see the progress of 3,000 daffodils growing and blooming will be simply marvelous!

  • Hello girls,
I was very late to post yesterday due to the computer being off line so I thought I would be early today
That is a neat hidden camera house. Maybe once the project is over it can become a big bird house. Franny you look like you are back to being in good shape. I am glad for you. Rebel, I didn't think you were 11. But I just thought maybe you were on some sort of medication. Hehehehehehe
I am getting sleepy so I better go to bed. I will be back again in the morning, fresh as a daisy, ready to read all the comments and find out what is going on all over the country
    Later maniacs,
    Maddox

  • Oh nuts! I was hoping a new family of critters had joined the farm and took up housing in the adorable little box!

But, blooming daffodils is a nice alternative.

    More snow in NH today...

    Unreal!

    Calgon take me away! :)

    Happy Wednesday to all...

  • Good Morning F & S

Hmmm hidden camera you better be good. I'm glad we don't have any of those around our house or I'd be in lots of trouble. The big guys get in trouble for things that I do and having that around would give away all my secrets ;) I really thought the little house was going to be a play house for Jude.

Another early day for mom I guess she is getting everything done before her golf trip. Sure she neglects me before she goes and then leaves me for a week and then is busy catching up at work when she gets back. This is a 3 week ordeal for me and I'm not liking it on bit :( Speaking of liking good job on the shoes Riley ;) Maybe I'll go grab a pair of her shoes I might feel better :)

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
That camera house is very cool. You know Dad has our night camera (nothing but skunks lately), but it can only go for 3 or 4 days without being charged. That will be interesting to see the flowers in spring. Riley, Cora Belle is going to be proud of you on the shoes.

As for me while Dad is gone, it is not going well. I thought it would be a fun party time for Mom and me, and I did well during the day, but when Dad wasn't home after dinner, I had a panic attack. We have never been apart other than an hour or two, and we are quite close. I walked around to all the doors and cried and cried for many hours. Mom kept telling me that it would be o.k. and I don't believe her. He still isn't home. I don't like this one bit, but Mom says if I stick it out, that Dad will bring me some trout to eat that I love. That wouldn't be too bad.Hope everyone has a GEM of a day and I will check on you later.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Good morning ladies,
I thought maybe it was a playhouse for Jude and Truman, too! A house for a camera, how cool is that? I can hardly wait to see the video.
Gee, Zoe, your Mom doesn't need a nanny cam for you 'cause of your "paper" trail! LOL I'd love to be a fly on the wall to watch you run off without tearing the paper..lay off the shoes girlfriend, not nice.
Yah, about that age thing, I think it was the muscle relaxer that relaxed my brain too...
Dark & gloomy here today, morning naptime.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Boy am I up early today or what? It quit raining and things are beginning to dry out. The trees are starting to bud out and flowers are coming up. Guess spring if about here. Another winter without any snow for me. I guess I will have to go where the snow is if I want to play in any of it. Just a month and I will be on the road for a couple weeks. I love those road trips. Now if I could just get Daddy to teach me to drive, I could take trips all by myself. He keeps saying that won’t happen. Still, I keep trying; he’ll change his mind one of these days. Time for a nap.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Sharkey, Francesca, Ruby, Rebel, Zoe, Riley, Professor Maddox, Ms. Kitty, and all my buddies-
Wow, 3,000 bulbs coming up sounds so beautiful! Maybe Franny and Sharkey will have to do chipmunk patrol to make sure the daffodils are secure and safe. Our chipmunks like bulbs like Zoe likes shoes and t.p. hehehehehe.
Rebel, glad you are having a great time and feeling better for a handsome 11 year old. Abby does not want me to tell but she is fast approaching another year, March 25th! Two years now in March in our home as she was a rescue dog. Right now she is snoring in the t.v. chair keeping it warm.
Ruby, your papa will be home soon! Its girl's day and night out in the meantime. So no worries! Be happy. Yeah, man, just dream about sandy, warm beaches. Oops, that's me waiting for SPRING!
Missy Chow, do you have some of this yucky rain and ice stuff up there? Zoe, make sure you do not touch any fancy shoes or you could be grounded. Off to read more books- have fun glue squad friends- James Dean the persian boy cat

  • Morning Girls & Glue Squad, Great to see you up and around. Mom hasn't seen any signs of her plants yet but then again, there has been alot of snow that would be covering them. Maybe after all the snow is gone, she will find them. Hidden camera..hum, for sure that would give me away when I get into trouble without Mom & Dad knowing. Mom's schedule the last couple of days has delayed me in posting, :( , I really need to talk to her about time. Delia, Mom checked your website, your doodling pictures are really nice. Ruby, we are getting rain today and maybe it will help melt our snow;, sorry, but we've had a enough. Zoe, being home with Dad while Mom is away is much better than Supernanny, so be good for Dad. Rebel, have you recovered from your party? Dudley Do Right, how are you? Cora Belle, rest my friend, and hope you are feeling better every day. Maybe James bought an extra maple bar yesterday for you. Kirby, did you send the rain to us today? I won't be heading outside to often today. Riley, I still take shoes & slippers, tell Mom it's a puppy thing. Hi Abby, James Dean, Kitty and all my buddies.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • OK, you Bet there's a time-lapse camera inside this house? so, is that what it really is? the hole seems to be in the wrong direction for viewing the bulbs :-)
Love your little coats, so investigative looking, like little detectives he he :-)
Again an appreciative 'Thank You' for stopping by my Doodle page to Susan, Martha, Lucy, Riley, Lynn, Ruby, Rebel and Mimi. :-)

A question for this BLOG MODERATOR about "Posting Comments" I use to be able to post and all my information was in the required bars (now I have to add each time) also after submitting my comment you would see the awaiting comment before it was approved...SO I ASK, IS THIS THE WAY IT WILL BE or is there something wrong with my setup for this blog???? Thanks!

We had out winter storm 'again' and still in progress arrrrgh! :-(

    be safe everyone!
    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • Good morning ladies,
I guess I forgot to click on "submit comment" earlier this morning, 'cause it's not here!
Anywho, I thought maybe there would be a playhouse for Jude & Truman and it's for a camera, how cool is that?
Zoe, I would love to be a fly on the wall at your house when you grab the toilet paper & not tear it! Your Mom doesn't need a nanny cam 'cause you leave a paper trail......
Oh, rethink the shoe thing, o.k.?
Hey Ruby girl, I know it's tough to relax when the routine gets changed. I also know you'll do your best & maybe tonight will be better. Your Mom's with you.
Um, as far as the age thing, well I thing my muscle relaxer went to my brain LOL
    Have a great day everybody.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

    Hurry up SPRING!!!

  • Hello F,S, GK and all the Glue Squadders:
That's a cool little house for the camera - it certainly will be cool to see all those daffs making their way up out of the earth, hopefully you guys can do another blog on the shade garden when the flowers are out.
Once again we are under a snowstorm - OMG will it ever stop snowing? It started yesterday as rain, freezing rain and then finally snow. It snowed all night and is still snowing now. Enough already! We want Spring.
Everything is kinda slow, can't really go out for very long cause we come in soaked to the skin and cold, and all Riley wants to do is have rough and tumble games in the yard. That devil boy has enough energy for six dogs, he's even got Martha (who is 6) playing and running and chasing him. I play with him a lot but he even gets me a little annoyed. Oh well, puppies grow up, don't they? I'm 5 now and can't remember being so crazy!!!
Well, off to hide for a nap, everyone keep warm and dry .... Love Lucy (writing), Martha and Riley devil.

  • Hi everyone! Hi Francesca Baby!! We had a big snowstorm yesterday, will you guys back East be getting it soon? It was a really wet snow and it bent the branches on our birch tree almost to the ground; Mom had to go shake the snow off so that the branches didn't break. It's hard to think about daffodils when you can't even see the dried up old winter grass. I can't even imagine what 3,000 will look like, but it will definitely be beautiful.
You are looking pretty spry there, Francesca Baby, I am happy to see that. One of my knees hurts a little bit-- Mom is going to take me to my chiropractor next week and see if he can help me feel better. If that doesn't work we'll try some acupuncture.
Mom wants to know if any of my Chow friends are going to be in St. Louis/Purina Farms this year at the Chow National? She is going to be there with her booth and she would LOVE to meet some of our friends. Of course, what she really is going to love is some Imo's Pizza, but she'll pretend that's not the case. Silly Mom.
    A bientot!
