Francesca and Sharkey Tour The Farm

Posted by Sharkey

As you know, Francesca has been confined to the house and to a crate.  Recently, we got the go-ahead for her to resume her normal activities, erring on the side of caution.  I thought that a farm tour would be a good idea, so I fired up the Kawasaki and took Franny for a ride!

Francesca, it's so great to have your company once again. Let's go on one of our outdoor jaunts around the farm. I'll do the driving!

Where shall we go first?

I have an idea! Let's go see our friends, the donks!

You stay put, Franny. Don't exert yourself. I'll go rouse up those critters.

Hey donkeys! Say hello to Francesca. She's back from her crate isolation.

You've missed a whole lot of clearing in the woods. The guys have been dragging out all of the fallen trees from the hurricane.

In fact, there they are coming back from their lunch break. Hi Chhewang, Chhiring, and Gyurme! Keep up the good work!

Franny, during your 30 days in the crate, the streams have frozen and thawed a few times. The temperatures have fluctuated so much this winter. Today feels quite balmy.

That is a kestrel house hanging on the tree. Kestrels are small falcons that don't build their own nest. They use nests built by other birds or this kind of house.

It's really beautiful back here in the woods. The little woodland folly looks very nice.

I wonder if Martha will turn it into a play house for Jude and Truman?

The Christmas tree farm looks great in the snow.

Against the white, you can really tell that they're growing. Just look at those piles of logs that continue to grow as more and more trees are cleared from the woods. Some are being sawed for lumber. Others will be ground for compost.

I hope that nothing bad ever happens to that magnificent sycamore. Martha loves sycamore trees because they symbolize protection, eternity, and strength.

  • Happy Belated Birthday Sharkey,Hope you had a good day, Sasha

  • Good morning ladies,
It must not be too cold 'cause you don't have your coats on! That's good, we don't want Frannie to shiver too much and stiffen up her neck muscles. It's bitter here today. I'm wearing a sweater and a coat this morning! It'll be a fast in and out for me today!
We have lots of Sycamore trees around these parts. They are kind of ghostly looking sometimes with the white bark.
I'll check in later to see what's up. Nothing exciting or new here.
    Til later.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Good Morning F & S

Great to see both of you out visiting the donks and checking on the farm. Franny make sure you take it easy don't want to see you back in the crate. So tell me how are you feeling?

I had a long time out last night the TP got me in trouble again. I was walking by the bathroom (the TP holder hangs over the heat vent) so the paper was blowing in the gentle breeze calling "Zoe Zoe come play with me" so I did ;) Oh did I play with the TP, I grabbed a hunk in my mouth and ran all through the family room right in front of mom and dad. Oh sweet Jesus all hell broke loose. The other dogs went crazy mom and dad were yelling for them to stop barking oh so much fun. Then my butt went into the crate while mom picked up all the mess. Anyway that was my night :)

    I think I'll be good today - maybe ;)

  • Hello everyone,
It does my heart good to see you girls out and about together. I bet you are amazed at all the changes that took place around the farm while you were confined, weren't you Sharkey? I read today's posts and I was thinking about Zoe, the TP Princess. Zoe, I do not think it is fair that you got a time out for the TP incident. First of all, who left the door open so you could see it blowing in the breeze? That is entrapment. You were definitely set up. And another thing I was thinking about, so what if you scattered TP all over. It is not heavy to pick up. And, it was unused, clean unsmelling TP. What about the ones who went after the skunk and made all that work to get the house smelling good again and all the expense of taking the lot of them to the groomer to get the skunk smell off their bodies? Seems to me, you got treated unfairly. I think you have a good case for mental abuse by being given a time out. I have been watching tv and I think you should get one of them lawyers on there, like Matlock or Perry Mason. I don't know where they live but maybe you can find them in the yellow pages.
How are the rest of you doing?
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I see you two are checking things out on the farm again. Looks really great with all that white stuff on the ground. I have only one question for you. Why aren’t you running and playing in it? If it were me, I would have snow up to my eyebrows playing in it. Well I guess when you don’t know how to grow two coats of fur, you have to sit in the Kawasaki. Boy Zoe, you sure do have a lot of fun at your place. A time out may not be what you wanted, but I’ll bet it was worth it. Anyway, a time out doesn’t take back all the fun.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
It is sooooo wonderful to see our Francesca buddy out and about. You will be a bit tired at first going on your out and abouts. Anyway that is what Mom said after she got over her sickness. Take it slow girlfriend. Mom had appointments yesterday, so Dad and I had a little training. Mom came home and said, what happened to all the Warrior Prince Biscuits. She cuts them with these nice dog bone cutters, and guess what Dad did, he cut them with a tiny saw into bite size pieces for his training. I am happy any shape or size, but Mom said next time she will make training size that he requests. I can't stop oohing over your farm girls. I love this place. Do you think you could have a giant Glue Squad PARTY? I am now in the planning of the Oscar Party. Just 5 including me, but lots of goodies for Ruby. Zoe, I agree with Maddox on the entrapment thing. A good attorney could get the charges reduced
but you have done your time already, so keep his name on hand and the next time, do like they do on Law and Order, I want my attorney. Glad though the house is smelling good again. We have skunkville here and Mom is in panic mode with me. They are abundant on the night camera. Kirby how are you doing, no special collar? Dudley, supervising wood again I see. Your Mom is great. My Mom is a sissy and couldn't cut wood. You didn't hear that Mom, right. I love you. Tonight our biggest snow of the year is moving in---a whole 4 inches. It is better than a dusting or a kick in the butt. Then another on Sunday, so I am going to help make home made chicken and noodles tomorrow. Never had that, bet it is yummo!!! Well, off to run from getting my ears cleaned. Have a GEM of a day.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • I love the donks too! :)

What a nice tour of the farm! Quite nice of Sharkey to be the chauffeur.

It has been a wild winter at least her in NH. Some days are sunny and mild, then boom a snow storm hits.

Right now NH is in a lull, but from what I hear another Nor'Easter is headed this way this weekend. (grumble grumble) :)

The rows of Christmas trees are as sweet as can be! :)

Great to see Frannie doing so well. We missed you!

    gail

  • Good to see you out and about Franny girl! just don't overdo it!
Oh I love that Kestrel box, wish we had those birds here in our backyard.
We had a boatload of snow again after the rain, colder then a witches *i* I'm soooo over this winter...please let this spring~summer~fall be nice ;-)
Well anyhow, it's good to see you two together having a nice time. :-)

    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, Sweet Sharkey, you sure did a great job taking Francesca in the Kawasaki for her to finally see lots of the farm again!! Both of you lovely girls look so great and Francesca, you must have enjoyed seeing everything Sharkey drove you to see! You both look very healthy, thank God and I would love to be there with you! Have another great day! Rebel, sure hope it gets warmer there! We were up to 50+ and very sunny yesterday! Zoe, you sure did have fun with the TP even though you got in trouble! Maddox, how are you doing? I have been in trouble begging Mom for treats too many times lately! Kirby, hope you are doing well and wish you had snow to enjoy! Ruby, you sure do have fun inside and outside and hope you enjoy the snow! Yes, Mom is still cutting wood and she gets it nice and warm in our house every day! Gail, sure hope you don't have that Nor'Easter this weekend! Hope you can stay warmer! Missy Chow, yes my birthday is in June, but Mom never new the exact date so she will celebrate my birthday on June 9th when I will be 9 years old! Hope all of you have a great day and will check back later! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Morning Girls & Glue Squad, Sharkey, so nice of you to bring Frannie up to speed with whats been happening on the farm during her confinement. Be sure to let her rest after your adventure. Nice to see both of you exploring once again. Zoe, you are funny, it must have looked like a snowstorm; but tend to agree, keep your attorney handy. I take two steps forward and one back so I keep my mediator's number close by. Kirby, more snow is predicted this weekend, may I can send some your way. Maddox, maybe you could be Zoe's attorney. Cora-Belle, hope you are okay. Rebel & Dudley Do Right, how's things with you. Abby & James Dean, anything new? Ruby, I'm sure Mom will make bite size Warrior Prince biscuits for you. Hi Kitty and all my other friends. Mom is back from the chiropractor with a few snap, crackle & pops but not bad considering the additional shoveling the last couple of weeks and another one maybe this weekend. Oh, boy!! Bright sunshine and windy today, so think I go take a nap now.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • Hello Sharkey and Franny,
How nice to see all the winter work and changes on the farm today with you girls riding around like Thelma and Louise! Must have been a rare day since we are back in freezing temperatures again. Send SPRING, not another Nor'easter our way. Historically, though we usually get hit with snow this coming week.
Kirby, the snow has been so hard, only snow plows can move it, not dog noses. Hard as a rock now and icy patches.
Ruby, why don't you eat the biscuits whole after the session? Maddox, you always entertain us with your mind and intelligent discourse, now on legal dog matters. Zoe, sounds like you had a great time prior to the lock down. Dudley, good job supervising that wood cutting session. Mom worked two shifts last night and will do another overnighter tonight to watch a very sick dog and cat at the hospital.
When will we play???? So many cat toys to throw, so many catnip treats to ponder?
How are you doing Kitty? Stay warm glue squad buddies and be safe- James Dean the persian boy

  • Hooray there you are again back where you belong Francesca-alongside your still celebrating birthday sister Sharkey! Don't exert yourself too much, just ease back into your duties of supervising the farm. By the way, the farm looks wonderful especially the more woodsy area with the creek.

Zoe, that timeout was worth all of the fun you had with the T.P. All of you Chows Kirby Bear, Missy Chow, Maddox, and of course G.K. would love the freezing cold of Chicago today. Us humans who love the heat? Not so much. I hope everyone is doing well and has a great day.

  • ..good to see you two out and about..I plan to go out and check the farm/ranch later for varmits...I could have used some legal help over the years..as James and lucinda say I do a lot of naughty things..excessive barking..hmmm!James is on his way to town to do some shopping..Lucinda said we would stay home and do some girl time..like getting the tractor out and exploring and drinking hot chocolate and taking a snack with us...hope she doesn't think that includes the stupid homemade cashmere sweater vest..thought she lost that thing!!(cattle dogs don't wear garments!)..gotta go..love, Cora-Belle p.s. good job on the tp, zoe!!!

  • Dear Franny and Sharkey,
We are sooo happy to see you up and about! And, we love that Sharkey took you for a drive to see what's been going on while you've been nesting. Our mom needs to get us a car. Meme thinks that he could drive if he had a little car. Anyway, have a great weekend guys. Love, Meme, Callie, Silver Stripes, Scooby and Cindy
