Antsy For Spring!

Posted by F&S

Who's getting tired of winter?  We Frenchies say, "Enough is enough!"  One good thing we've noticed is that the days are getting longer, which sometimes casts a spring-like glow.  We know it's just a matter of time, but we're getting antsy for spring!

What have we here? Why, it's a frozen puddle.

Is that ever cold on the tongue!

Sharkey, I'm getting a little tired of cold, snow, and ice.

There must be some semblance of spring here at the farm!

These little flowers are called snowdrops, or Galanthus, and they're in the Amaryllis family.

Galanthus are perennial, herbaceous plants which grow from bulbs. Their name is from the Greek, gala for milk and anthos for flower.

Franny, I wonder if we can find any other flowers blooming?

These little blueish flowers are Puschkinia, named in honor of the Russian botanist Apollo Mussin-Pushkin. These look a little flattened from the weight of the recent snow.

  • Good Morning F & S

Well those flowers at the farm are a sign that spring is right around the corner and so was the fact that dad was out working on the pool heater yesterday. I better check to see if any of our bulbs started to sprout maybe I'll do that today.

This winter has been crazy one day in the 50's next day 20 - go figure. I hope we can get through March without any of that white stuff - YUK - I hate the snow.

I have to keep it short mom has an early meeting. Have a nice day :)

  • Good morning ladies,
It was starting to look like Spring here, but Mother Nature said "Not yet!"
I searched the yard & lake front yesterday and nothing blooming yet.
Have a great and safe day everybody.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Sign me up for being tired of Winter! More snow on the way for New Hampshire! Yipes!

How sweet you found a taste of spring popping up from the ground! :)

It gives me hope that soon Spring will arrive in NH.

Until then all I see are heaping mounds of snow! :)

    Happy Tuesday to all...

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
I know you Easterners are ready for Spring and those flowers are sure pretty blooming on your farm girls, buuuuuut Ruby just got a taste of winter last week. A little more in Colorado please, or I hear we are in drought this summer and water rationing and the farmers are sad. So just order here for me.

Yahoo!!!! Dad went off ice fishing and it is girl's time for Mom and I. She has big plans, NOT!!! Just Ruby and Mom and card making and toys. Maybe a few Warrior Prince Biscuits tomorrow. Have a GEM of a day all.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Hello F&S and Glue Squadders:
We are certainly ready for Spring, and it would be lovely to direct Mother Nature to send all the snow to Ruby girl! However, I don't think that is how it works - too bad. Expecting another 10-15cm of snow tonight, big storm coming in from the mid-west. Sigh ...... we are sick of snow and grey and cold! Please Mother Nature, some sun and warm temperatures. No flowers up here yet, although Mom patrols at least once a week!
Nothing very exciting happening - Riley ate Sam's shoes last night - she now has no linings in them and the left one is totally destroyed. He looks so innocent, but he is really a devil dog!!!! She will just have to hop around in one shoe I guess. Why do humans need shoes anyways? We don't need them.
Such are the questions that I ponder each and every day. Have a great day - love and Beardie bounces from Martha (writing), Lucy and Riley (devil dog).

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, Francesca and Sharkey, you sweet girls look so nice in your outfits today! How fun to see that some of your flowers are blooming and yes, spring is on the way! We only have a few blooms but many flowers are getting ready to bloom when it gets warmer and I can't wait for spring, also! Hope you have a warmer day and stay safe! Our 40 mph winds have finally slowed down and it could be nicer today-sure hope so! Was nice to hear from Zoe, Gail, Rebel and Ruby so far this morning and can't wait to hear from more of you! Ruby, sure would love to send you some of our rain so you don't have water rationing! Hope all of you buddies are doing well! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Oh yes, “Wherefore art thou Spring?” just teasing us is getting ooold :-(
Girls you are so lucky to even have the presence of just a few flowers outside!
Again I learned something new...snowdrops, or Galanthus are in the Amaryllis family. Awesome! :-)

Yesterday I was late posting but noticed Rebel and Mimi saw it...Thanks sweets for checking out my Doodle webpage and leaving a kind comment...there are 43 different pages, including 2 on Kitty. =^. .^=

OK, Today I will do something important and start Spring cleaning and preparing for the sale of my collections...but, I don't know what I did with the list and I'm a list person, because I forget...geepers I hate getting old!!!

Have a great Tuesday however/whatever it may be...we are Blessed to be here ;-)

    Hugs,
    delia & Kitty =^ A ^=

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Yep spring is on it’s way and as the days get longer some jack*** will change the times again and I won’t know when to get up in the mornings. It rained almost all night long and things are really wet. It woke me up and I had to go outside. My Mommy said that it was the hardest it had rained all night and I just had to go. What is the problem here? I mean, you have an umbrella and don’t get wet. I can’t get under it with you and get my head wet. A guy has to go when he has to go and that’s that. I don’t know why I can’t have a “box” in the house like that cat has. I guess Daddy is right; it would be a really large box.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • ..we have snow-drop flowers in our yard..and daffodils are just about ready to bloom..I checked out your web page, Delia...I liked it...I feel really tired lately..so I am taking a couple days off..will check in on Friday..till then naps for the Cora-Belle!..love, Cora-Belle p.s. • Hello there,
It is 4:15 pm and I am just getting to post. Geez. What a day. Computer was down again since last night. Karen is not a happy camper. What the heck, she still had the good old phone. But I guess this is a texting and emailing and tweeting world so when the computer goes down everyone panics. Not me. I just head for the deck or I go watch Animal Planet or some other show.
Since I am so late today I will end and just start fresh tomorrow.
    Love to all,
    Maddox
