Spa Time For Frenchies!

Posted by Francesca

We are very active French bulldogs and we lead fascinating lives.  Sometimes, on our outdoor adventures, we get into some pretty funky-smelling stuff, which isn't acceptable within the confines of our home.  Why do dogs like stinky stuff anyway?

Francesca, why are you sitting there so calmly? Don't you realize that you're next?

Sharkey, I don't mind being bathed. Let's face it. We Frenchies really know how to become stinky. We live on a farm for goodness sakes! Getting stinky may be fun, but it's not the greatest fragrance.

I suppose you're right about that, but this is an awful lot of water!

Sharkey, bathing is very important. Personal hygiene is essential and Laura and Sanu are very gentle.

There, there. You smell so much better. I envy your fragrance. I want the same spa treatment!

  • Hello ladies,
You are so clean now and the shampoo must smell good cause I can smell it from here. Hehehehehe
Well, the end of another week. We are supposed to have a nice weekend. I wanted some snow. I was going to build an igloo on the deck so I could lay out there and wouldn't have to be worried about being covered in snow. But I guess I will have to wait on that for now.
I will be back on later today. Talking about the deck made me want to go there right now.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Morning Girls & Glue Squad, I see it was your day at the apa also, feels good doesn't it. I had spa day yesterday also and Mom says I look so pretty. The spa came to the house and it was nice. Now if all of us can stay clean & fresh for a couple of days, it was well worth it. Right??? Computer time is early today, our weather is very mild and I think I will be spending time outside today and trying to stay clean.

Hope all my glue squad buddies are doing great - Lynn, Sonya, glad you are feeling better. Hi Delia, Gloria.

Got to run, will check back later...Mom needs computer time before she goes on her errands & hair appointment.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
That spa time stuff looks really special. I wish I could be still long enough to do this, but someday. Dr. D was really happy she FINALLY got to look in my ears this week, so spa time is a future day. Everyone is doing the spa thing this week, Abby, and I remember Missy was going to have the spa in home. Ooh la la everyone. Excited to hear everyones weekend plans so I will check back later, but you know what is in my future? "P and P" time, in case you all don't know this yet, that is my party and playtime. There is a big Bronco game tomorrow, supposed to be in 20 degrees and snow. Go horseis you, go!! Mom has a spa time today, getting her hair done!! So Dad and I get to be together. I am getting better about letting people touch me when I am laying down, but last night got scared and there was an incident--growled and bit at Dad. Honestly, I love my family and let them takes bones and toys from my mouth, but something from the past scares when I have been asleep, especially with men. This is not something Ruby Girl is proud of in her forever home, but I know there is love and a wonderful family. Did anyone ever have a problem like this if they were adopted? Sometimes I get confused, but for the most part I am party and play girl Ruby. I can hardly wait to hear from you all. Have a GEM of a day.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Oh you Frenchies have it so hard! Yes, indeed Laura and Sanu look like they are very gentle with you guys.
Well it's raining and the snow melting and of course Kitty NOW wants to go out, she came home looking like a drown rat with muddy paws leaving tracks all over...geesh, and she doesn't like snow? :-(
So today my art student is coming back and I have to gear my thinking into a lesson plan...guess I should have done that last night...shoulda, coulda, woulda, nothing has changed for 2013!
Franchesca and Sharkey now that you are all clean and smelling like a rose, what's next...a party?

Got to run and get my Java to get me going! ;-)
    Hugs and pruuurrs
    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
You can call it anything you like; it’s still a bath. It is so warm here I will have to hide out today to avoid that bath I over heard Mommy talking about yesterday. I think I’ll stay with Daddy today. I just hope he will protect me. Then again, he is the one who puts me in the bath tub sometimes. Just can’t trust them now days. The weekend is upon us. Have a good, and safe, weekend all.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, How fun to see you girls being bathed and dried by lovely Laura and Sanu! Sharkey, you look a bit scared and you look just like I do when I have to take a bath! I just don't like it! Franny, you look so relaxed bathing and I wish I could, also! I love to roll around on smelly stuff whenever I find it, too! Hope you beautiful girls and GK have a great weekend! Maddox, sounds like you will have more fun when you get some snow! We are down in the 30s now and everything is frosty! Missy Chow, you must look beautiful after that great spa! Dearest Ruby, I certainly can understand how you react sometimes because I did the same things when I was adopted years ago and even when I dream I can do the same thing again! That scares Mom but she get me to relax and I behave better! You take care, Ruby! Delia and Kitty, sure hope your weather gets drier and Kitty stays clean even going outside! Hope you both have a great day and hug Kitty for me! Will check back later to read more comments! Hope all of you have a terrific weekend and stay safe! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Good morning ladies!
Spa time, hmmmm, let me see. Yeah, I'm not so crazy for it. I like my smells from rolling on worms on the sidewalk & such. Papa is giving me my baths now. My medicated shampoo smells like coconut oil. The folks like it. We have a deep laundry sink and a high faucet, so I don't cooperate they just pick me up and run me back & forth under the running water. I do like my towels, though. The folks wrap me up and give me a good rub down. Then they check the drain basket to see how much hair I've lost. I will report that there is not very much these days.
Hey Ruby girl. Keep up the good work. I didn't like ladies & gave Mimi a real hard time the first few months.
Kittie muddy? You silly kitty. Hope you had fun outside...
Missy Chow, I bet you are pretty all the time, just like Maddox is so fluffy & handsome.
    Have a great weekend all.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hello Everybody:
F&S, bathtime really becomes you - you look so elegant once you are done! We have coats like GK, very thick underneath and a harsher outer coat. Mom takes me (Martha)and my sister Lucy to the dog groomers because we are quite big and don't especially like to get in the bathtub, although we both like to swim (when it is our idea!). We always come back looking (and smelling) very nice, but Mom says its very hard to keep us looking good for any length of time! There are just so many good places in the garden to get into! Our little brother Riley is really weird - he actually likes getting bathed and will jump in, sit and then jump out of the tub when he is done. Oh well, boys are different!
Today its kind of warm, but raining - I think they call it January thaw - I'm sure winter is not done yet. Well, gotta go, Mom is going to take us for a walk - we go to a leash free park and we all run like crazy - wish we could find some sheep to run with!

  • Well, here is another thing that shows how like me you are, Francesca Baby. I LOVE Bath Day-- it feels so good when Mom or Dad are rubbing the shampoo in or using the rubber brush afterwards that I purr and hum with happiness.
However, at our house what we call Spa Day has a different meaning. Spa Day is when we go in the car to visit Dr. Dude. He cleans deep in our ears, cuts our nails, and squeezes the smelly stuff out of our anal glands (TMI?) When it is done, we get a hamburger and Mom drives the pretty way home. Mom says there is a Spa Day coming up next week, which means Bath Day is coming up too!!

  • Awwww Spa Days! Sharkey as the same look on her face that Jake does on Spa days. Jake asked me to hide this post because he thinks it will give ideas to our mom. I'm like Frannie, I love spa days! But I am a princess so it makes sense. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, we are having very cold weather for San Diego (40-50 degrees). So maybe we should go purchase coats at PetSmart this weekend.

    Molly

  • ..good grief..spa days!..being an old farm/ranch dog, I have never had a spa day..I bathe in the river..all the outdoor critters would laugh at me..but I am glad my buddies enjoy it..speaking of enjoyment, I hear talk of baking Warrior prince cookies..yummy!...and Ruby, a little nip now and then is okay..after 16 years I still bite Lucinda on the heel..and when in the truck and James is petting me..I snap at him..it is great fun!!over and out, Cora-Belle

  • Sign me up for Spa Day! :)

A little soap won't kill ya, so simmer down! :)

I can imagine with all the exploring that goes on at the farm one may find themselves in some stinky situations. Can you say manure! :) Phew.. hee hee

I hope you had a nice snack and maybe a snooze after bath time...

Have a wonderful weekend girly girls!

  • OMG F & S

This is like living a bad dream - getting a bath - seeing pictures of the torture - NO NO NO!!!
I can feel your pain Sharkey I hate water touching me and not to mention the blow dryer and the brush :(

This is not a way to begin a Friday - no mention of bath please. My mother better not get any ideas I smell just fine!

Change of subject - nice weather coming our way. Deck time for me tomorrow better get out my shades. Mom is going into Philadelphia to the Italian market to shop with her sisters I sure hope she brings me something home. A nice piece of cheese or cookies would be nice for old Zoe - love to eat :) I got on the scale at the Doc's office came in at 22 pounds. Mom wants me at 20 so less treats. I think I ate at least 3 packs of Lynn's treats over the holidays boy they are good.

Well have a nice weekend everyone!!

    Zoe

  • Hi all,
I said I would be back. Spa day seems to be the main topic. When I was showing I got groomed every week. Yes, every week. Karen has a hydro surge. Gerry does too. It feels so good when you are getting a bath so I don't mind the bath. But, the drying was not good. It was alright but I have such a big thick coat that takes a long time to dry. So, I always end up falling asleep on the grooming table. I would lay on my one side and they would start drying me and when I woke up I was on my other side and I was dry. They flipped me over just like flipping pancakes. Hehehehehehe Molly tell Jake that your mom won't change your routine because that would be uncool and Glue Squad moms are way cool. Martha, Lucy and Riley, a belated welcome to the DW.
Ruby, maybe Dr. pia could do a blog on ways to change bad habits on pets that are adopted. I wasn't adopted but fhat doesn't matter. I think that you really like your new family but you don't trust them because of what happened to you before you arrived at the Wallace household. The thing is no one knows your past but you do. You know how good these people are to you and how good your life is now. So little Miss Ruby, you have to learn to trust again. I know you are a little nervous about some things but it will come. You will realize how nice Lynn and Will and Weston are and once that is in your head and heart, you will be fine. I am very glad that you are with such loving and patient people.
    Love to all,
    Maddox
PS - Cora-Belle skinny dipping. Wish I had a picture of that. Hehehehe

  • Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Spa day and lil' Miss Sharkey Barkey does not look happy! Franny you seem to be taking it all in stride.

Ruby I know it's hard to completely believe it, but you have a most wonderful family who loves you and will be patient with you as you get to know them. You are in wonderful hands now!

  • Hey there! I understand this is kind of off-topic but I needed
to ask. Does operating a well-established blog such
as yours take a large amount of work? I'm brand new to blogging however I do write in my diary every day.
I'd like to start a blog so I can share my experience and views online.
Please let me know if you have any recommendations or tips for brand new aspiring blog owners.
    Appreciate it!

Take a look at my blog post Acute Herpes Genitalis Treatment
