Sharkey's Hurt Foot

Posted by Sharkey

Well, it's happened again.  I've managed to hurt myself while having fun outdoors.  This is so unfair.

Oh bother! I have to wear this ridiculous looking collar again.

1 Oh bother! I have to wear this ridiculous looking collar again.

Wouldn't you know it? I snagged my toenail on something outside.

There was a bit of bleeding and now I have to wear a bandage, which I love to tear off, of course! Thus the collar.

Poor, poor Sharkey. If she stayed put, like I do, then she wouldn't hurt herself so often.

Now, now, Sharkey, let me lick your tears.

Those Frenchies really care about each other.

And I really care about them, too. It's a mutual admiration society here at the farm.

Thanks, Francesca. Thanks, G.K. You're such good housemates. I'll try not to feel too sorry for myself.

But how am I supposed to run after squirrels when my foot is wrapped like a mummy?

I suppose I'll just hunker down and take a nap. It's bound to heal faster that way.

  • Holy 'hot foot' Batman!

Oh Sharkey, I am so sorry you injured your foot again.

Life is about fun and adventures, you can't be a sitting duck and let it pass you by!

Bumps along the way are expected..

I'm glad you have such good pals around the farm to care for you. You are one lucky pooch.

My thoughts are with you for a speedy recovery!

  • Oh Sharkey, you poor thing. That has to be so painful. Don't worry about the collar. You look cute in anything you wear I just feel bad that you are hurting. Karen gets our dewclaws taken off when we are less than a week old. We don't feel it and then when we are older we can run through the woods and don't have to worry about tearing the dewclaws. I hope you heal real fast and I know you will be very well taken care of by Francesca and GK. speaking of GK, I had to laugh when He said he stays put. Isn't this the same boy that took off to go exploring the neighborhood and was brought back home by a police officer? Hehehehehe. I am just kidding with you son, you have matured very nicely and you look more handsome every time you are on the DW. That is the way I am too. I get better looking every day. Hehehehehe
Well Sharkey, heal fast with as little pain as possible and look on the bright side, there is a squirrel out there somewhere on the farm just waiting to "play" with you again.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Good Morning F & S

Sharkey!! How the heck did you do that??? And now the dreaded lampshade!! OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!
Please rest so you can get better fast.

Well today is not a good day I have to see Dr. Keefe - it's that time of year for our annual physicals and shots. Two of us go today and two tomorrow - I hope I get to go today so I don't have to worry all day I can just get it over with. I get to have that cold stick stuck up my butt and the light in my eyes and ears - not fun. Oh not to mention a shot in the butt - OH MY............

After such a nice weekend spending lots of time with mom now this - good grief.............

  • I'm so sorry about your foot, dear Sharkey! I wish I could come over and play some board games with you during your recovery. You'd probably like "Mouse Trap" and "Chutes and Ladders." Don't be glum! You'll be o.k. soon!

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
So sorry to hear about your hurt foot. I know how that feels because I tore one of my toenails one time. It seemed to take forever to heal, but it did. I really didn’t mean to start a “fashion” statement by wearing my hood. I must say you look better than I do in it. Mine is made out of clear plastic and I found that I could bend it if I really pushed hard on it. But not anymore, Daddy put two of them on me. Mommy wasn’t watching me like she should yesterday and I got into my tail again; hood time again. Daddy said that my tail will have to heal completely before it quits itching. Anyone out there know just how long it takes for a tail to heal?
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Girls, G.K. & Glue Squad Buddies,
Oh no, oh no, oh no!!! We are twins girlfriend, just a week or so apart. I didn't actually have to have my paw wrapped, nothing was ever seen, BUT, the crate and leash for a couple of days. No balls, no toys, no fun. I understand your pain girlfriend. Hopefully it will heal soon and without much pain. Maybe you will have to get some boots that are special running boots---Mama Martha could market them in her line.

Fun times are back for Ruby girl. Mom is doing lots better and is making lists and cleaning jewelry boxes and we had a celebration party over the weekend. Just Dad, Weston, Mom and I,but still a party. Mom said that my Guardian Angel, Basil, came up with "cc" time, so I decided after we had a popcorn party and playtime, that I am a great party organizer, and I will name it "pp" time---no, don't laugh, it took me a long time to come up with that. It stands for party and play time. What do you think? I am hearing there are a lot of "pp" times in my future, like a SUPERBOWL maybe and the Academy Awards and Valentine's Day, Groundhog Day. My list is endless. Let me know what you all think, as I am just getting into "cc" time with Mom in the mornings for coffee. I am just a "pp" time gal. Party orgainzer Ruby.

Maddox, I meant to tell you how nice to see you taking care of Sharkey too. What is this about a police record? Or was it just a ride in his car? How fun!!!

Have a GEM of a day.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Hi Sharkey, I'm very sorry to hear about your paw. Here's a suggestion that might stop this from happenning again, ask your Mom to get you, Frannie and GK some of these boots:

    https://www.neopaws.com/dog_shoe_summary.php

My Mom got them for me and although I didn't like to have to put them on the first couple of times, when I got outside in the freezing weather and I could run and jump in snowbanks, walk for miles and never have to worry about having freezing feet, cutting my paw pads on sharp pieces of ice, or having that nasty salt and sand that the city puts down to melt ice on the sidewalks hurt me, I decided thay were a "very good thing"!!!!

The lady that wons the Neopaws store is very helpful and friendly, tell your Mom to mention that the lady with the big red poodle recommended her, maybe she will remember us!

I have a very cute picture of myself with my matching red boots and ski jacket on, but I can't seem to figure out how to attach it here or I would send it along so that you could see how smashing you would look all geared up! I know haow you girls especially like to look fashionable!

Sending you lots of love so that your paw heals up quickly,
    Finnegan

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, Just like the rest of our friends I am extremely sorry to see that you hurt your paw Sweet, Adorable Sharkey! Sure hope your paw will heal real soon and how great to have such helpful friends to make you feel better! Franny and GK you are so wonderful to take care of Sharkey! I was bit in the neck many years ago by a friends dog we were letting stay at our house. She was trying to get off our patio to chase some dogs down on the road and bit me when she couldn't go there! My Mom grabbed me and took me to the vet and later had our friend come get that dog. I was OK but a bit scared and happy to be just with Mom. It was so great to read all of your comments this morning saying nice things to Sharkey! All of you are great buddies! Hope you all have a great day! Love Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Dearest Sharkey,
"Oh,bother" for sure! I have never torn a nail but it sounds like a bad owwwwie. I read about Kirby Bear and the cone, but I can't see him, so I am watching you. I hear that after my eye surgery I will have to wear a cone, too. Which is best? A hard plastic or a soft style? How do you get around with that thing on? Do you take it off when you eat? Does the wind catch it when you go outside and make you walk crooked?
Frannie is so sweet to you. What a pal. I know that G.K. loves you, too.
Well, sweet girl, you do have a lot of good thoughts and sympathy coming your way.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Oh dear, Sharkey, ripped nails are never any fun! I hope you heal fast. Francesca Baby, you be a good sister to Sharkey; I know you will try. Millie and I tried to be good sisters to Roxy; she came to us with a torn nail from a fight she had gotten into from her first home. It wound up tearing completely off, and it wasn't a dewclaw, but one of her toes on a back foot. Dr. Dude put on a great big bandage on it so she didn't have to wear the Cone of Shame. She's doing fine now, so I expect to hear very soon that you are doing fine. Zoe, good luck at your physical-- I hope all the needles and pokey thingies go by quickly. Does your Mom take you out for a hamburger after your Dr. appointments? Thinking about hamburgers makes my eye appointments seem not quite as bad.

  • Sorry for the goof in my first post. I know Maddox you didn't run off it was G.K. So sorry for the error. I was excited to get playing and in a hurry. Haste makes waste, huh?
    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Ahhhhh, poor little Sharkey! I'm sorry you hurt yourself....and then to have to wear that humiliating cone...but Franny is so comforting, even G.K. notices this. I love to see you guys so lovey-dovey ;-)

Even the glue squad see's your devotion to each other. :-)
Heal your nail sweet Sharkey...stay warm and healthy everyone!
    delia & Kitty feel bad =^; ;^=

  • Happy New Year's Everyone! Although a week late. I was sick all last week and spent most of my time trying to keep my nose unclogged. Yuck!

Sharkey I am so sorry that you hurt your little paw again. You do know how to rock a lampshade though. I see your caregivers Franny and G.K. are on the job. G.K. who are you kidding staying put Mr. Gad-About Town and Adventurer?

Good luck Zoe and your siblings on your V-E-T appointment. Kirby Bear, I hope your tail heals once and for all so you don't have to wear the Cone of Shame anymore. How is everyone, I hope everyone is enjoying the New Year!

  • I'm so sorry, Sharkey! I hope you're up and running again soon. Don't you just loathe those cones? Take care of your foot!

    XOXO,
    Poco

  • Sharkey. Not the cone, we just heard… the cone helped spread the word! We could help at H4Legs.com our H-Leggings are the latest in dog care of the forelegs. Wish you the very best in your recovery.

  • Sharkey, I have a Miniature Schnauzer Rescue and just have to ask, what IS that dear collar sort of entire outfit you are wearing? Although I'm sure you're freaked out having to wear it, it does look much more comfortable than the traditional Elizabethan collars! My furkids would sure appreciate knowing what brand it is (your mom's perhaps??) and where you got it! Maybe I should design a crocheted one similar to it! So sorry to hear about your owie, hope you are better soon!
