Franny Does Some Business

Posted by Francesca

As you may know, I am being confined to a crate for a total of 30 days.  I must try to remain calm and inactive so that my bulging neck disc has a chance to heal.  However, it would be helpful if I had a little more in the way of entertainment.

Excuse me, Laura! But I have to go, if you know what I mean.

Laura has Sharkey locked up in the hallway so we won't be tempted to play with one another. Oh, how I miss our playtime!

Laura so nicely carries me outside to the caged area in the courtyard. If she let me walk, I might be tempted to run after a squirrel, which is not what I'm supposed to be doing right now.

Could they have made this thing just a little bit bigger?

  • Good Morning F & S

Did you really have to show the picture of bag balm on your nose?? We have that little green can my mom uses it on her hands if they get really dried out. She thought it was a great idea to put on your nose - thanks for the tip - NOT :(

What a great weekend mom was in the kitchen the entire time she only left the house to go to church Sunday morning. She had cookbooks out all over the place and made all kinds of good stuff. Did I mention no treats for me?

We are getting ready for a wintery mix - yuk. I better go do my business before it starts.

Franny continue to rest I hope you feel better soon.

    Zoe

  • Where does one purchase the oft-mentioned "Bag Balm" anyway? Hmm... I hope you're feeling better, dear Franny! Say, does that cat ever open its eyes? Sharkey, you could have a little "fun" with that cat, if you know what I mean. :)

    Bye!
    Malcolm

  • Hi everybody,
Oh my goodness, Frannie girl. That's a lot of crate time! If you pain meds are like mine were then it does make it easier to be calm and sleep. I would need the aid of an artifical plant in the potty area (tee, hee). Are you getting extra fiber to help with #2? I know Miss Laura is feeding a top notch meal. Hey, maybe a Lassie movie or look for a Rin Tin Tin tv show on the I Pad. Every now and then my Papa watches re-runs of old shows on his I Pad!
Well, you rest my little sweet pea. You'll be better soon.
It's rainy here today, we dodged the ice and our friends left for Wisconsin & got home just fine. I didn't know that folks could sit and play card games for so many hours! Guess our weather excitement will be tomorrow.
    Have a great day all.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
It doesn’t matter what you call it; a cage is still a cage. I know that times one is needed so just take it easy and you’ll get better soon. I have one of those things too. I don’t use it; just have it when we travel just in case it’s needed. Right now, it’s a “motel” for that cat which has been hanging around here. Guess he is staying; I didn’t have any say in the matter. Mommy brings him in at night when it’s below freezing outside. Now if he really wants to help out around here, he could just let me chase him for a little while instead of moving up high where I can’t get to him. Just wait, I’ll learn to climb one of these days.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, Sweet Franny, you look better and better every time we get to see photos of you and these latest ones are so cute with you, Laura and Sharkey! Just like you, I can't wait for the next 19 days to go by so you will be much better and safer to go outside with Sharkey and GK! I'm sure Martha will take you back to the Animal Specialty Center which is the best place to get your special care! My Mom sure wishes we had a place like that to care for my best friend Cricket who died back in 2005 with the broken disc in her back. We still miss her very much! My thanks goes to Martha and everyone who cares for you at home! Cora-Belle, is it raining down where you live like it is up here near Puget Sound? My Mom's family used to use bag balm, also but we haven't! Zoe, bet you had a good weekend and you will probably get more treats real soon! Hope to hear from the rest of you buddies real soon and hope you all have a great day! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
There was never any doubt that you would get the best of care. Laura, you have a nursing degree for sure. I think Franny needs a home theater set up with a big screen, set for National Geo channel or cooking channel. Maybe even could see Lady and the Tramp Movie or something. G.K. and cats could get in on things too. A party!!! Yahoo!!

I must say thank goodness for Dad and his techno smarts. Mom is like in the stoneage. So sorry Laura and everyone for her ignorance. I brought in the big guns this morning and told Dad, he had to save the day so I could blog. He found the problem and I am set. Mom was not going into the Feed. Now we are fed and have the feed and I can blog. OMG what a difficult time SHE caused for me. Oh well, it is over. The weekend was great. The Ruby Fence is completed and now I am headed for a walk. Thanks everyone for getting Mom out of the techno mess. Especially Dad---I love ya baby.

Have a GEM of a day all.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby
P.S. Franny what is this I hear of you using Bag Balm, when you Mom, Baby Favor has connections for NOSE BUTTER. What are they thinking not using her Nose Butter.

  • Hello Frannie, Sharkey, GK and all the GSquadders:
Looks like things are starting to look up a little, Frannie, I hope that the pain meds are helping and that you are starting to feel much better. We have never had such a situation in our pack and I hope we never do! I have a crate just like yours Frannie, I just sleep in there at night - Mom now doesn't close the door anymore and I've been doing very well. I also had a corral like the one Frannie has outside - it was to give Mom some piece of mind when I first arrived home, before I really knew where the appropriate place to "conduct business" was. Although the day I jumped over the 4 foot walls from a sitting position was the day the corral when into storage! We've had a lot of snow up here - they say its called a Colorado low - Ruby, did you send it to us? but now its gotten really warm and everything is melting - kind of wet out there. Lucy and I were out this morning playing reindeer games again, we both came in soaking wet - oh well, doesn't bother us much!
Yesterday Mom took us all to the park, it was empty so us three maniacs got to run around without our leashes - on the way there we were so excited that it was like a wave of non-stop barking coming through the closed car doors, on the way home it was very quiet cause we were all barked out! We love walks - now if we could just find some sheep.
Everyone have a great day - Riley (I wrote today), Martha and Lucy (plus the cat critters!). XOXOXO

  • You are looking like you feel pretty good, Francesca Baby. I know the confinement is no fun, but hang in there. Bag Balm is very nice, but I'm surprised you don't know about a wonderful product called Blissful Dog Nose Butter that's got all sorts of organic good stuff in it. I use it on my nose, and Millie, who has hyperkera...something or other that means ucky nose... uses it too. It's been mentioned in Whole Dog Journal, even!

  • Hi Franny, Sharkey, Dudley, Empress Tang, Cora belle and my glue squad buddies,
We have sleet on top of freezing snow here on the roads. I bet its cold when you go outside to that little caged in area in the snow Franny. That snow makes Abby run indoors after her walk down to the field to do imnportant things.
Sharkey looks cute but very tired, bet she misses playing with you. Stay warm and just think soon these 19 days will be over.
Cora belle, you make us smile and hope you are having fun by the river with your pals. Dudley, hope you have a fun day. Kirby, it might be fun having a feline resident. I provide entertainment for my canine friend Abby. Zoe, we are in for freezing rain and ice tonight so be safe!
Mom tried to drive into work but her car was sliding all over and she returned home. More reading time together with me! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey too! Every time I see you little sweeties I just want to hug you and kiss your little noses. You are too cute! I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better Francesca - you definitely look better than you did a few days ago. Your momma takes good care of you. As bad as you feel though, you did a fantastic job with the picture captions and #7 had me laughing out loud. Yeah, really, CAN'T a girl have some privacy! Be well honey bunch! Trish

  • Aw, great to see Frannie up and around... But, I do agree you need a bit of privacy in the potty area! :)

Hey, that Bag Balm looks like something I could use. My hands get so dry and cracked during the Winter. But, I'm guessing it's not for humans! :) Unless, I sprout some 'udders' overnight! hee hee

A bit of snow is falling right now in NH. Sigh...

I've got Spring on the mind!

    Be well Frannie girl!
    gail

  • Oh you poor little Francesca, being confined like that, guess you have to watch what you eat with the lack of exercise,eh?

Good old Bag Balm, I used it on my horses and my hands during the winter cold at the barn, it sure was helpful. I bought it at the feed store but I think you can get it now at Wal-Mart or Walgreen's.

I didn't have internet connection since last night, it took me all darn day to get back on.

Say what gives with having to put in all my info every time I come here, it use to be in there. :-(

Have a great afternoon and evening everyone1
    delia & Kitty =^. .^= ;-)

  • ..okay, where is our buddy, Maddox?...I am helping Lucinda make stuffed pork chops and a chocolate pie...I lay right in the middle of our little kitchen and supervise..she only tells to go in the other room about a million times..but I ignore her..bag balm can be used on humans..Lucinda even puts it on her face..she says if it is good enough for cow teats.. it is good enough for her face when chapped..over and out love, Cora-Belle

  • Franny you keep resting and relaxing. What a beautiful and advanced facility MommyM took you to. Sharkey you keep being a sweet sister and comforting Franny even if it means outside the cage.

Hope everyone is doing well. Had problems all day being able to post. I echo Delia's comment about having to put our information in EVERY TIME to post. I hope this gets changed back!

  • Hi everyone,
You will not believe this but it is true. I thought it was Sunday today. I missed a day somewhere. I think sometimes I think too much. I think about all kinds of stuff to the point I forget the here and now. Hehehehehehe he
Baby Favor, you mentioned that nose butter once before and I asked you about in on the DW and never heard anything more about it. A vitamin E capsule broken open and put on the nose will help too. Franny, it was yucky today so it was not a day you would have wanted to be outside anyway. Karen has a sock monkey that dances all over on the floor. Do you want me to send it to you for entertainment? It is funny.
Well, I guess I will get ready to eat my evening meal and catch up with everyone tomorrow
Glad everyone seems to be alright except for Francesca and even she is getting better do that is very good.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Hang in there, Francesca! You too, Sharkey -- I think you miss your buddy.
