Where is that Sharkey? I can hear her barking and I think I know where she is.

Franny, I'm in with the donks trying to get them to play tag! Run, Billie! Run, Rufus! Run, Clive! Come on, I want to play!

Sharkey, you should have gotten here sooner. We would love to play with you, but we've got an appointment in the stable for our daily hoof washing.

Oh come on, Billie! Why bother washing your hooves? They'll just get dirty again tomorrow! Skip it and stay out here and play with me!

Sharkey, we donks must think of our health. Hoof problems aren't common for miniature donkeys, but the risks are greater when the ground is soggy from rain and snow.

Washing hooves really doesn't take all that much effort. Dolma leads us right to the stable shower.

To keep us from bolting, Dolma hooks our harnesses to a strap in the shower. Of course, there are treats for good behavior.

And then the fun begins and we get our hooves sprayed clean. We've been told that when the ground is wet, it becomes a breeding ground for all kinds of bacteria. Yuck!

This is truly fascinating! I'll keep my distance to avoid getting wet.

All that bacteria can cause a number of hoof problems for donks and horses alike! Horrible infections like thrush, white line disease, lamanitis, and even abscesses can cause big health problems.

Wow, I learned a lot today about hoof hygiene! And I'm so glad Dolma takes such good care of you. I better go home and ask to have my paws washed after running in your paddock.

  • Hello everyone,
How is Francesca? I hope she is getting better each and every day. In the meantime it is nice to revisit some of these blogs. The docks are so cute, very photogenic.
Ok, some of us know that this is a special day and a big surprise. Today is DAILY WAG STAFF APPRECIATION DAY. Surprise to you, the DW staff. We pulled one over on you, oh yes we did. Hehehehehe
I not only speak for myself but for Karen as well when I tell you that we appreciate you more than you will ever know. We know that it takes more than Franny, Sharkey and GK to put things on this blog every day. There has to be research done on all of the topics, pictures, the writing and typing everything, monitoring, and so on. We would just like to say that you all are doing one heck of a fantastic job and we hope you keep doing it right like you have been. There are all the people that work on the farm that help with their knowledge in different areas, such as Ryan, Wilmer, Betsy, Uncle Carlos, and so many more, the photographers Sara and the newest camera guy Ron, and Martha for making this blog happen in the first place and her sister Laura who is the backbone of this blog. We would like to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you. We would especially like to tell you that we really appreciate that when we have a sick member of the Glue Squad that we are really worried about, you go out of your way and continue to post our comments even though your work day may have ended hours before. The Glue Squad, we are a special group, and when one hurts, we all hurt. But by you posting updates on one of us sickos, we all rest easier because we are up to date on the situation and that makes us all feel a little better. So, from Karen and myself, as members of the Glue Squad, we just want to say that each one of you that is involved in the makings of The Daily Wag Blog, well, you rock. Enjoy this day because it is all about you today
Love to all, Maddox and Karen

  • Good Morning to the Daily Wag Staff

Happy Daily Wag Staff Appreciation Day!! I'm sending a big old frenchie kiss to all of you for making the DW possible :)

Laura and Ron thank you!!! Even though I got my paws smacked a few times because of my comments I still love you guys ;) I'm the Zoe monster I can't help myself.

Anyway Uncle Carlos - I wish I had an Uncle like you and Betsy you can be my Aunt any day. You guys are the best!

Because of the DW I've made so many new friends both 2 and 4 legged. Our Glue Squad is the best and that would have never happened without all your efforts.

So today - you have the rest of the day off. Go home, relax and put your feet up. No really, Martha said it was ok I talked to her myself.

    Thank you again!!

Zoe, T-Bone, Precious, Sophie and Ann

  • Ah Zoe, my little friend, you do realize that if you give the DW staff off the rest of the day, the other Glue Squad members will not be able to give their comments regarding DW Staff Appreciation Day, don't you? You better rethink that and go back to Martha to come up with a different plan. Maybe Martha could have Pierre make them a real special meal instead. Geez, now I made myself hungry thinking about food. So, eat breakfast and then deck time. I wish I would have been there to see the staff this morning when they started reading our comments. We surprised them didn't we. We are so clever if I do say so myself. And everybody thought the Glue Squad was just a bunch of pretty faces. Hehehehehehehehe

  • Greetings Daily Wag Staff, Happy Daily Wag Appreciation Day!!!! Although I'm relatively new within this past year, I've totally enjoyed the DW, the topics, captions, pictures, seeing all and everything that happens on the farm, I want to say thank you to all of you for your love, passion, compassion and friendship to keep all of us in contact each and every day. I think Maddox has said it best, even one of friends is sick, the staff is there to keep us all informed. Thanks to Laura, Ron, Sara, Uncle Carlos to name a few and especially, Martha.

Hope Frannie is feeling much better.

    Have a great day!

    Till next time,
    MissyChow
    xoxo

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Let me start by saying, “Happy Daily Wag Staff Appreciation Day” to all the staff at the DW. Thank you for all the hard work you do for us which keeps all together as a DW group. What else could one say except thanks, thanks and more thanks. I would lick your face if I were there. Then again, maybe not; Chows aren’t known for their licks. There has to be something special before you will get a lick from me. Just ask my Mommy and Daddy, they’ll tell you. Hope the snow doesn’t get to all of you in the northeast. I could use some of it down here if you could spare some. Hehehehehe
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • HAPPY DAILY WAG STAFF APPRECIATION DAY!!!!
Wow and double wow, a party today for Ruby girl to plan in your honor. I will roll in the grass, get extra treats, and play, play and play more in your honor, Daily Wag Staff. In all seriousness, Mom and I are grateful to all of you, clear up to God. I am second generation Glue Squad and Mom says if it hadn't been for all you and helping with the updates on Basil and then his memorial, just wouldn't have gotten to Ruby Girl. All of the Daily Wag Staff and Glue Squad helped Mom get through the loss of Basil. Two legged and four legged friends now have I. All the photography is so very beautiful, and funny sometimes too---you all catch it perfectly. Mom wanted you to be warm in the winter taking photos, Sara, so she sent you a hat/scarf at Christms---hope it keeps you warm. And now Ron, I need to get her on top of things to keep you warm too. Laura, the research you do to inform us, is nothing short of genius. I bet I am among the smartest 10 month olds thanks to you guys. Learning about everything from orchids to donkeys. And Uncle Carlos, you all are very fortunate indeed to have him for an Uncle. Playtimes and adventures are really cool with him on the other end of the leash. What I am trying to say is a big THANK YOU to everyone on the Daily Wag Staff and especially to Mama Martha for bringing us all together.Friendship and love is what this Ruby girl and her family feel every time I post and read. We are the luckiest kids in the world to be a part of this group. ALL OF YOU HAVE A GEM OF A DAY!!!!
    Love & licks,
    Ruby (and Lynn)

  • And one more thing.......
Maddox, you are the smartest Professor in the world for thinking up Daily Wag Staff Appreciation Day. And I was good and didn't blow the surprise. Aren't you proud of Ruby girl?
    Love,
    Ruby

So, today, we share this feeling with you. I think the Ron has big shoes to fill (not that Sara has big feet or anthing like that). • Hello Everyone:
This is Lucy writing today, it's so good to hear that Franny is starting to recover - we all send her big Beardie licks and hope she is up and about very soon.
Happy Daily Wag Appreciation Day! We are new to the blog, and its easy to forget that it does not happen itself, lots of people behind the scenes putting out an interesting, well researched and thought out blog! So many 2 and 4 legged creatures to meet, now if we could only all get together and play! Wouldn't that be a blast!
Its very very cold here, was -21C this morning, that's about 0F, very cold. Mom would only let us out for a short while - even the cat creatures didn't want to be out very long. Ah well, I live in hope that Spring is coming .....
Martha likes to sit outside on the deck in the sun, and Riley just likes to be outside all the time, but today we'll just have to lay on the bed in the sunshine, dreaming of warmer days. Ruby I empathize with your digging expeditions, since we got Riley he has dug holes everywhere in Mom's garden - we warned him she wouldn't be happy, but he's not really good at listening yet!
Talk to you all later, Lucy, Martha and Riley! - I'm first today since I wrote the comment (with help of course).

  • Well, I did not know that today is 'Daily Wag Appreciation Day' but now I do-- woo hoo!! All the people on the Daily Wag do great jobs, and I am so happy that through it I am able to keep up on the adventures of my very precious Francesca Baby. Not to mention all of her friends and people. And of course, without the Daily Wag there would be no Glue Squad, and I would not have as many two leggies and four leggies that I can call friends.
Now, why I did not know that today is 'Daily Wag Appreciation Day' (woo hoo!) is a sad story. Mom tried emailing the address she was told to email, so that we could email our fellow Glue Squad-ers, and it didn't go through. Mom's pretty good with email, but even so she just doesn't know what is going on, but she wants you all to know that she tried and not that you might think we are not interested because WE ARE!
Oh, and Zoe, I think I got my paws smacked once or twice too for a few comments, or at least ignored since I didn't see them, but I guess that's a good thing, since we four leggies have to learn our manners somehow!

  • Happy Daily Wag Staff Appreciation Day!! Molly and I send lots of hugs and licks! You make our day a bit brighter with these wonderful posts you do.

We are back to our sunny 70 Degree wear here in San Diego. You call can come visit if you tirer of the cold wet weather. It was such a nice weekend and almost bright enough for us to wear those sunglasses for dogs!

    Take care,
    Jake

  • Aw, the donks make me smile and revisiting a former entry is always nice.

I'm hoping Frannie is resting comfortably.

    Miss you lots F&S!

    gail

  • ..a big thank you to the Daily Wag staff, for all of you on the staff I will act extra naughty and bark at critters for you all day..your pal, Cora-Belle

  • Baby Favor sorry you didn't know about today. My mom's email address is abrennan@coretitle.com

If anyone else wants to be part of the Glue Squad email list please send my mom an email.

    Zoe

  • YES
    YES
    YES
Glue Squad members, we did it. And what a response. I am so very proud of each and every one of you for saying such great things about the DW staff because they truly deserve all the praise we give them and then some. I hope they were very happy about today's comments because I think we all did a good job on that. Thank you for coming through today my wonderful spectacular peeps. We really pulled it off.
Tomorrow will be back to normal. We will be expecting updates on Rebel's eyes, Zoe's sadness because of lack of TP, and so on and so on. Hehehehehehe
    Love you all,
    Maddox.
