Recent Farm Activities

Posted by F&S

With winter and the holiday season approaching, there is a hubbub of activity going on at the farm.  Not wanting to miss a thing, we Frenchies fired up the engine of the Kawasaki and went to investigate.

Hi Phurba! You sure are doing a great job burlapping the terrace garden. All of Martha's shrubs are getting nicely tucked away for the winter.

Oh, you're trimming back all of the brown foliage on the ferns and perennials and clearing the beds of leaves.

Because next, Chhiring and his crew are going to spread composted mulch over the tops of the garden beds.

This mulch is so good for the gardens and we make it right here on the farm from all of the organic materials the farm generates. We call it 'black gold.'

  • Love the dogs but it is time to see how the cats are doing.

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
I just love seeing you and your farm and activities. Getting ready for winter and activities is quite a chore. I can hardly wait to see your farm with all the Christmas lights at night. Yesterday was so fun on the Daily Wag hearing all the quotes. Maddox, Rebel and Abby, mom is starting a quote album with all your photos. She just got new doggie papers so it will be kool. Cora Belle the frig is a good idea. Tell Lucinda and James how they gave my Mom the idea for the daily coffee shop trips to help me adjust. Mine doesn't have maple bars though---darn!! Abby, Happy Anniversary to your Grandma and Grandpa--how many years? And Dudley, I will lay out in the cold for you. With this wonderful doggie door that I love going in and out, in and out, in and out, I will just lay and watch the birds and those darn squirrels. Mom doesn't know it, but I know she watches me all the time. Yesterday had a lot of learning for Ruby. I learned that I love, love, Nylabonees and am going to ask Santa for a couple more. And I learned that Dad's antique duck decoy doorstop needed cosmetic surgery to have a nose reduction. It was way too long. Mom secretly laughed and I heard her tell Dad, at least she isn't jumping a fence. Dad wasn't as happy. But guess what tomorrow is snow a coming, and I can hardly wait. Today Sara is coming over and we are baking sugar cut out cookies. Will be fun to try one of those---with permission only, I know. I want to thank you all, my new pals for being Ruby's buddies. I just love waking up to friends. Glue Squad friends, the best way to start a day---that's Ruby's quote. Have a "GEM" of a weekend.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Good morning girls,
Quite a lot of activity going on at the farm this morning. I still think you should tell Martha to have an artist come in and paint flowers and leaves on the burlap so it would seem like spring time. Freezing rain today. Yuk.
I think I will go back to bed for a while. Ruby, did they get a warranty on your new door cause as much as you are using it, I wouldn't want to see it worn out too soon. Hehehehehehe.
I think Zoe will be back next week. I wonder if she got into trouble. Any bets? I will be back to talk to everyone later on.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Morning Girls & Glue Squad, You girls sure have been busy this week and watching over all the chores needed to be done before winter sets in. Great job!! Love the quotes from yesterday, your time with Uncle Carlos as well.

Finally getting some quick computer time this morning before Mom heads out to do some shopping with Auntie Annie. Mom's schedule has been very busy this week, work , dr appt, meeting, who knows what else!! Plus, not that I was looking for it, but received a couple of times out too...she wasn't too happy with me. Checked out a couple of Christmas decorations on top of it and tried to rearrange them :-( for her.

Ruby, so happy you are adjusting, aren't those cars rides fun??? When Dad opens my window a little I get to stick my nose out, feel the fresh air in my face and Mom says I need goggles as I close my eyes or squint, hehe..Maybe mom can bring one of your toys and leave it in the car for you, just an idea..Abby & James Dean, have you sent your list to Santa yet? Kirby, you're right, Chows hold their ground and don't back off..Just ask my Dad when he walks me! Rebel, hope you are doing okay, has all your fur grown back yet. Dudley Do Right, how are you doing? Maddox, any thing new with Abram or Gibbs? How is Scott doing? Cora-Belle, are you wearing your vest? Have you heard from the Chiweenies lately? Kitty, any thing new with you? Zoe, hope you are being good for Dad?

Well, time to shut down, Mom is getting ready to leave...will check back later.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, You lovely girls in your nice outfits sure did have fun traveling all around the farm to check on what the workers were doing! My favorite thing is walking all around our yard and smelling everything to see if any squirrels, raccoons, or the wolf is in the area! My hair stands up and I run like crazy when I smell something and I bark like crazy! Hope you girls and GK have a good weekend and bet you will be glad when Martha comes back home from Miami! Fun to hear from you again sweet Ruby! Sound like you are doing well and enjoying your new home and fabulous family! Maddox, you continue to be our special professor and I love all of your great ideas! Mossy Chow, you are another great buddy who loves to help your parents and I love reading your comments, too! Will check back later to hear from the rest of you Glue Squaders! Hope you all have a great weekend!Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Bet the Stewart's place looks awesome with all the decorations! F & S you two just get your paws into everything...don't you? what good little Frenchies! ;-)
Right now the morning sun is sneaking through the trees, just beautiful, hope the sun stays out and helps me stay happy. Of course Kitty sleeps through the nice days and goes out when it's dark and cold, I just don't get it. Forgive me if I'm repeating myself, but Kitty came home a few weeks ago without her collar, thank goodness she either broke free or she pulled it off...I put the spare one on her, Pink in color and a nice loud bell, now I can hear her coming...and of course the lipstick mark between her eyes tell people she has a loving home.
Ruby, Maddox and Missy Chow have already been here this morn, so will come back this evening to check out all the posts...Meeuuww I love the doggies here and the handsome Persian JD...

    May your weekend be Blessed!
    delia & Kitty =^, ,^=

  • You girls sure are busy supervising all the work around the house! We may not do much decorating this year because Dad is getting a new knee and he's the one who can usually reach all the hard to get to places.
I don't think Mom knows about an email list, but you don't need a picture of me-- just look at Francesca! She and I look very much alike. I mean, scary very a lot. Although I do have a bit more white on my muzzle and white eyebrows.

  • Hello Francesca, Sharkey, RUBY, Maddox, Sweet Dudley, Brave Kirby, Baby Favor, Missy Chow, KITTY, and all my glue squad buddies-
Abby is soooo happy today, running around the house in circles in anticipation of her trip to Petsmart since its Mom's day off!
It was fun seeing the frenchie girls watching the special shooting stars go up on the house. I like Sharkey's grey outfit and Franny is stylin' too.
Corabelle, are you keeping warm indoors watching the river by your house? Dudley, how are you doing? You always comment on all your friends, hope you have a good nap. Maddox, we love your quotes. Rebel, hope your fur continues to do better. Zoe, where are you? Maybe Zoe is helping santa up at the north pole with all his top secret toy stuff. Ruby tuesday, our dear friend sounds like you were just doing some woodworking on the decoy. Missy Chow, busy with the Christmas decorations and your own craft work too. WAIT A MINUTE.. Dudley, did you say WOLF in your area???? Baby favor you must be very pretty since you look like Franny. Ruby, my grand parents celebrated 54 years anniversary yesterday. If our freezing rain goes away then they are going out to dinner. Be still my heart as I wish BEUUTIFUUUL KITTY a wonderful night!!! Parting is such sorrow.
I am going back to my reading, love and purrrrrrs- James Dean the persian
Abby says Happy Weekend to all her buddies!

  • Hello ladies,
We're a little later today. Went to the office as usual, got payroll done & then off to Dr Becky's. I actually get excited when we pull in the parking lot! I guess it's the peanut butter snack I get with my shots.LOL There sure is a lot of busy-ness going on at your place. Mimi put out some bird seed and as one would guess the squirrels showed up. I sure could have used you ladies! Almost too much for me all alone.
We're having a quiet day today. Mimi has a cold in her head. She says her ears are buzzing, too. Anyway, she is not nearly as sick as your Mama Martha has been. Hope she is feeling a bunch better.
Ruby girl, sure am glad that you like your doggie door! Oh, Missy Chow, I like to stick my head out the window, too. I just stick my little black nose up in the air & take in all those smells!
My fur is coming back with a vengence. I was kind of cranky at bath time yesterday. Mimi said I needed to be good so we could get done ASAP.
I'll be having a quiet weekend, it's cold & rainy here. Yuck. Hope there will be a fire in the fireplace tonight.
    Have a great weekend everybody.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • hi everybody..a cold rain coming down..good day to lounge around the stove while Lucinda goes shopping..something about cinnamon scented cones..now if she were crafty, she could make her own..but she says she is helping the economy ( a fancy way of saying too lazy to do it herself!)..yikes,
Dudley a wolf, we had one down the driveway a couple years ago ..a lot bigger than a coyote, Lucinda and James made me stay in the house..Ivy, the wonder dog border-collie) was still with us and she went out and chased it, I loved my big sister!.must go supervise Lucinda getting ready..over and out, love, Cora-Belle

  • My favorite word: hubbub! :)

December is a busy month indeed. It's nice to see the farm getting all set with decorations.

I guess your 'skwerl sammich' will have to wait! :) Phew, lucky squirrel.

It was a bit chilly today in NH. Overall still quite mild, with no snow on the ground. YAY! Let's hope snow/ice stay away this Winter. Wishful thinking of my part.

    Have a wonderful weekend!
    gail

  • ..almost forgot..let us not forget the brave men and women of Pearl Harbor...war is so horrific!...some day all the vets of today will be old and they will not want to be forgotten....love, Cora-Belle
