I've been wondering about hay, now that winter's coming. Let's have a look upstairs in the hay loft and see if they have an ample supply.

Wow, it's pretty empty up here! We better remind Betsy to order more hay, right away!

When that hay is delivered, this bale conveyor will need to be lowered out of the loft window, but that's not our concern. We'll let the strong guys take care of that.

Well Sharkey, if my eyes aren't deceiving me, Betsy, as usual, is on top of the situation and we have a load coming in right now!

Wow Francesca, that is one big truck! It even had to use the service entrance to get on the property!

Ok, the driver is pulling up by the stable. From the looks of things, it's really a good thing that we have that conveyor!

Let's inspect it, Sharkey. It looks like fine quality hay - very clean and neatly baled. Let's go back up to the hay loft.

The conveyor was lowered and look how easy it makes getting those heavy bales up into the hay loft! The chain has big hooks, which grip the bales for transport.

  • Hello everyone,
Once again we see how the girls are so thoughtful and caring. The picture of the horses coming toward the camera is really neat.
Well Glue Squad, this is the last day of the year. Tomorrow a new year begins. And that means a new start. It gives us a chance to start fresh and to improve some things about ourselves that we think we could do better at. Yes, today is
    NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS DAY
I hope everyone gave it some great thought and whatever you pick for your resolutions, I hope you can deliver on them.
Let's see, I am not going to make a resolution to lose weight. I think my weight is fine. I don't smoke so that is out. I think I am handsome enough so no improvement needed there. Hehehehehe. Seriously, this is hard. I want to pick something that I definitely need improvement on so I can start the new year trying to be a better Maddox. I know, my new YEAR'S resolution is to be a better commenter on the DW. . Sometimes when I am reading posts I am in a hurry to go out on the deck and I skim over them instead of reading every word. I don't do it too often but I could improve on that. And I have one more resolution and that is to be more charming so I get more treats from people. Hehehehehe
Can't wait to hear all your resolutions.
    Love to all,
    Maddox
Happy New Year to all my Glue Squad Friends

  • Hello Ladies and Glue Squad Buddies,
I am so glad once again to see the photos of the past. This was really an education seeing about all this hay, and you both look so stylin'. I love the cold, but if I needed it, those "pretty in pink" sweats would be great. Now on to the events of this day. It's New Year's Eve, yahoo!Mom explained this New Year's resolution thing and I do believe I have the hang of it. You make a promise about something that is very important to do or accomplish that you haven't been able to do before. Then Mom says, if you break the promise about it, you don't get in trouble. Thought about this one, and I think my New Year's resolution will be to not steal any food ever again from a counter, like the Thanksgiving stuffing caper this year. Hehehehehehehe and remember if the resolution gets broken then no sweat, no problem, no trouble. My kind of promise. That's it from this Ruby Gem and I hope you all have a fantastic Eve and great New Year. We are laying low, not a big production, but fun. Mom is feeling better and my paw is back to normal. By the way, the vet coming to the house is "a good thing" for Ruby. Love it!!

Now a special thank you to Martha, Franny, Sharkey, G.K. and all The Daily Wag staff to make my meeting all my Glue Squad buddies every day possible. Everyone has become a very special part of my life and I see great blogs in our future in 2013. Love you all and be safe and have a gem of a New Year's.
    Love and licks,
    Ruby

  • Hi everyone,
It has been fun going back to previous posts. You girls have matured so nicely. GK, you looked fantastic in a previous post this week.
As the year draws to a close, I just want to wish the DW staff, Martha and her family and all the Glue Squad members and their families a very Happy New Year. May the year ahead be better for everyone, may we all keep our health in the coming year and may the glue that holds us together be stronger than ever. I feel very fortunate to have gotten to know all of you and look forward to what the New Year brings us.
    Your friend,
    Karen Tracy
PS - Maddox, I don't care how much more charm you turn on, extra treats are out. You get a very adequate amount of treats so don't push it mister. And as you would say, hehehehe

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
“Hay,” That’s southern for hello isn’t it? My Daddy told me that hay was the first stage of horse, oops better not say that here. Let me see, what can I change for the New Year? I’m like Maddox; almost perfect the way I am. As a matter of fact there is not one thing I would change about me. Mommy said that not pulling my hair out would be a welcome change. I can’t help it if the flees bite me. I have that stuff on me which kills them, but they have to bite me first before it kills them. I’m allergic to the flee bite and just have to dig that spot with my teeth. It’s all those squirrels bringing the flees into my yard. Oh, well maybe the cold weather will change that this winter. Have a safe, and happy, New Year.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, Thanks so much for this delightful repeat of this blog about getting hay for Martha's horses and donkeys at the beautiful Bedford farm! It's so much fun to see more of the great stable and Chhiring, Gyurme, and Betsy putting all of those great hay bales up in the stable! Well done! My favorite photos were #14 of you two adorable girls and #16 with the horses running back to the stable! Happy New year to everyone involved in the production of The Daily Wag blogs! You all make our lives so great every day! Maddox, love your comments again today and my Resolutions are to lose some weight and quit begging Mom to give me more treats all day long! I always scratch on lots of things in the house to get her attention! I want to be even a better boy! Ruby Gem, you are being so much more superior every day we hear from you and I know you are continuing to improve daily! So glad Lynn is feeling better and your paw has improved, also! Sure hope everyone else is doing better, also! Will check back later to read more comments! Happy New Year to all of you! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hello Franny, Sharkey, RUBY, Maddox handsome philospopher, Professor Kirby, Beautiful Kitty, and all my glue squad friends-
Another year gone by and so much to look forward to.
I am excited to play with my huge stuffed catnip rat and more brushing time too.
My New Year resolution is to be a better boy when mom brushes my tummy and left underbelly. In the cat boy world that is not an easy thing to do- the equivalent of "make my day" so to speak. I am trying to let her do it so I don't get mattts but then my instincts take over and wham with my big persian paws! I am excited for a New Year of the daily Wag and look forward to talking to all my friends. Mom is going out running and then we will read together until she goes to work. Be safe and cuddle with your human families! purrrs and hugs- James Dean the persian boy cat

  • Hi ladies,
Mim was really impressed by the staircase up to the hay mow. As a girl she would climb on pieces of wood nailed to the barn wall and then wait for the hay bales. No eonder she has so many muscles! She says that the cinch for her saddle did not have buckle. She had to learn to tie the leather strap rea tight & in a special knot.Enogh about old Mimi & the old days.
You girls did look cute in your pink fleece!
I've been thinking about this resolution thing the folks have been talking about. I guess that I need to a bit less chihuahua-like &be a bit more friendly to the grandkids & other children. I not real bad, but sometimes I just like to be close by & watch & I can get a tad snippy if they get too close. Children move ro quick sometimes & are too loud for my taste.
Well, here is my wish for a happy new year to all of you!
    You pal,
    Rebel

  • hmmmm..New Years resolutions..maybe one would be not to bite Lucinda on her ankle every morning on the way to the kitchen for breakfast..but that is what we herders do..and after 16 years that might be kind of tough to stop..besides I think she likes it..she always yelps!..then maybe not be a hog when it comes to eating pop-corn..I gobble mine then want everybodys..barking that is a tough one..and acting naughty..I can't promise anything..over and out, love, Cora-Belle

  • Dear Friends of DW, Glue Squad and all the MS helpers, including every fur-friend here and at the MS establishment...
Be Safe, Happy and enjoy the New Year!
    Love to All,
    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • Hi everyone,

Happy to see all the past posts in the last few days, it has been fun.

Late afternoon post for me today, things were a little busy for everyone so my computer time had been delayed :-( My New Years resolution will be trying to be more obedient and listen to Mom & Dad when they tell me to do something for my own good.

Wishing all my friends and buddies a very happy, healthy New Year. Many thanks to F&S, GK, the MS staff, Uncle Carlos, the staff of the DW, Dr Pia and everyone who helps all of us to keep in contact with one another.

    Happy New Year - 2013

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • Hey, where is Missy Chow and little Zoe? Are you girls on vacation? I am very anxious to here what your resolutions are. Same for Baby Favor and our humans, no resolutions?
I saw what Karen said about extra treats. Darn, darn, darn.
    Maddox
