Great Plans For The Boxwood Room

Posted by F&S

There's an area at the farm behind the Summer House that has been a real work in progress.  A few years ago, Martha had the area enclosed with a wall of tall boxwood shrubs and she has plans for a formal garden.  She calls it the 'Boxwood Room.'  The other day, more shrubs were delivered and of course, we had to go investigate.

Francesca, why do you suppose there is burlap covering this stone walkway?

Sharkey, there's also a big blue tarp. I suppose it has something to do with the delivery of new boxwood shrubs. I guess the workmen are covering the walks to keep them clean. That's smart, especially since Martha's home.

Sharkey, that tall man is George Bridge who finds really nice mature trees and shrubs. He's supplied Martha with many great specimens.

Sharkey, wouldn't it be great if someone got married here some day?

I suppose we'll have to wait for the garden to be finished before making any plans like that!

  • Good morning girls,
The Boxwood Room project looks like it is going to be a long involved project but I bet that it will be very beautiful when it is complete.
How did your Christmas party go yesterday? I bet your guests were in awe when they saw all the beautiful decorations on the farm.
Karen was at a dog show and I was in charge. Yes, the Prince Warrior Basil biscuits came out because Wu-Tang, she just turned one last month, she won the Breed yesterday and she beat a lot of other champions to do it. Her dad. my step brother won Best of Opposite and one of her brothers won Select and Sequoia, a puppy, got Reserve Winners for the girls and it was her first weeekend out. It was a great day at the dog show for the Pazzazz Chows and it was a great day back at the house for the rest of us because the biscuits were flying all over the place. When Karen sees how many I gave out, she might get mad but I will just look at her with my adorable face and she will forget all about it. hehehehehehehehe
So, let's hear how everyone's weekend went?????
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Good Morning F & S

And what a great morning it is mom is back from Aruba and I am SO happy :) Dad told her yesterday that she was away too long and needs to scale that annual trip back by a few days but I don't think she was listening.

The boxwood room sounds like it is going to be a very pretty garden. Sharkey I'm with you I have no plans on getting married. I like being a wild and crazy single Frenchie ;)

I don't have any tales of terror to report while mom was away only that I ran out the front door once and down the cul de sac. Dad was not a happy camper because I wouldn't come back when he called me. He stood in the street and finally I got tired running and came back to him. Like I say - oh well poop happens ;)

Mom didn't have time to go back and read all the posts from the last 2 weeks but I'm hoping we can do that tonight I need to catch up. Plus I have to write my letter to Santa tonight I've been extra good this year :)

    Have a great day everyone!!

    Zoe

  • I'm with ya Sharkey, single girls rock! :)

I've been wondering about that garden area and what has become of it.

I really like the shape of the gazebo. Not traditional at all.

It snowed here in NH yesterday. Grumble, grumble and more grumbles from me! :)

    Have a super Monday..

  • Hello Girls & Glue Squad Buddies,
This Boxwood Room sounds very exciting, but a lot of hard work. I bet you girls and G.K. are real good at helping dig. I would be. That brings me to a very serious question. One week from today will be my first Christmas. Now Dad says I have gotten myself on the naughty list and Mom says Santa understands that puppies are still learning. It goes like this, very innocent. Mom loves lavender, everything from bubble bath to lotion, so I thought I would bring her the real deal from the yard, pulled up and broke off a large portion of one of her lavender plants, roots and all. Brought it inside for her Christmas gift. THEN I found out that stays in the yard, no picking it. Too late. Later in the day I dug a hole in the grass to try to replant. Not a good idea either. I learned alot about digging up and planting rules, but BFF's my concern is this naughty and nice list. If I keep my halo straight until Christmas, do I have a chance at my nylabone from Santa?

Maddox, it sounds like it was a great time with the biscuits while Karen was at the shows. Congrats to her and Sequoia, and Wu Tang and your brother. Wow she must have had to hire a car just to carry the trophies home. And Zoe, thank God you are home safe. You know enough about the neighborhood to come back. I don't yet. It scares me leaving home. I can hardly wait to hear about Abby and James Deans Mom, Trace's birthday, and Rebel it is such good news Dr. Becky says you are doing good. Dudley have you and the Uncles shopped for Mom yet? Kirby, I am really having fun on these walks. I think I should get 2 a day. Missy Chow, are you in the same boat as me with the naughty/nice list? If we are real good until Christmas,he can't forget us, we are so darn cute. Cora Belle have you been getting any visits from the German Sheperd neighbors for biscuits? Well, everyone
I am so excited to see your photos on Santa Day Thursday with your letters. I bet Cora Belle is wishing for a truckload of Maple Bars. Baby Favor now I get to see your pretty face too. If and when I nap today I am going to dream of sugarplums. Delia have a nice trip to see the daughter and grand doggies. I'll check back later in between games of fun. Have a GEM of a day.
    Love & licks,
    Ruby

  • Dear Glue Squad friends, please forgive me, my heart is too heavy over what has occurred in Connecticut and all those incidences that followed afterwards. It's all too hard to comprehend...I also hope that mommie Martha is feeling better, we want her to be healthy.
Yes, I will be traveling soon...not my favorite thing to do this time of year, but if I want to spend Christmas with our married daughter, we will have to.
Kitty has auntie alex taking care of her.
    Have a day of Joy!
    hugs,
    delia and Kitty =^, ,^=

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Well the weekend is over and now back to the work week. What am I saying? I have to work every day. Someone has to be on guard duty around here. I saw a cat in the front yard and went through the house telling everyone about it. Well maybe I was just a little too loud and wouldn’t stop. Now I am in that “dog house” again. Seems that I stay there a lot these days. I can’t help it; old age I guess. It was good to hear about the dog show this weekend and so many winners. I’m a winner too you know. Well, there may be just one Chow Chow in the show, me, and I always win. My Mommy and Daddy are the judges so there’s no way anyone else will win. Ladies, be sure to get GK to help you with digging all those holes for the plants.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, How fun to see what is finally going on at Martha's boxwood room outside her summer home! Mom and I recall that she was going to make it a very special place and she certainly is doing it with the help of George Bridge! How fun to see the two of you with Martha in today's blog-marvelous! Hi Maddox, sure sounds like Karen had a busy time at that latest dog show and how nice you took care of all the rest! My weekend was OK except for all of the rain again! Today we have a 40 mile an hour wind and could have power outage-sure hope not! Zoe, so glad you are back with us and so happy your Mom is back home! How fun that you were mostly a good girl! Gail, sorry about your snow and hope you stay safe and warm inside! Ruby, you sure are a fun friend to read about everyday and I'm sure you meant to do good things! We may not be able to get my photo+ to the rest of you on Thursday because my Uncles are not helping Mom very much and she needs help to send the photo. Will check back later to hear from the rest of you! Have a great day! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • I can't believe I was so worried about this naughty nice list, I forgot to send hugs to Sonya. Love ya, Ruby Gem

  • Good morning ladies,
Wow, I can see that this will be a great place to take a nap, or sit and watch for squirrels, or sunbathe! That getting married thing sure isn't for me either. I dig my bachelor life.
Mimi got her latest issue of Martha's magazine and noticed that the trainer will be coming 4 days a week. Well, that sounds like too much for me, but Mimi said that it gave her the gumption to get her rear in gear. I'll let you know how long this adventure in exercise lasts.........
Seems like everybody had a busy weekend digging, guarding and generally barking a lot. Good going! Keep it up (except the digging, right Ruby?) I've got to get my act together & get my Santa list out. I've laid out my torn up toys & am ready to take pictures so Santa knows what to bring.
Mimi is baking 4 dozen cookies today and tomorrow for a cookie exchange. I will be hanging out in the kitchen just in case.
It's a cloudy day here, just right for a fire, fresh cookies and a nap.
    So, til tomorrow.
    Your pal,
    Rebel
P.S. Glad our Zoe girl is back.

  • ...first off. way too go Pazzazz Chows!..Rebel, tell your mom exercise is over-rated..and Ruby, I salute you on your naughtiness..and Kirby, I too, get in trouble for barking a bit much...Zoe, good naughtiness on your part..I say don't come back till you are ready, that is what we cattledogs do!..Dudley, wow..we had some big wind gusts..they say we are in for more storms..time to haul the generator back out...yes, Delia, our hearts are heavy, also,..when will the madness stop...Gail, I am with you snow..yuk!..means that stupid vest may come back out..well, fellow doggers I must help Lucinda clean the hovel..what a weird-o!..love, Cora-Belle

  • So much work so little time ladies. Where is dear brother G.K. to help out. Tell him he's better watch out or he might make Santa's naughty list.

Yay Zoe's back. I saw your Mom and Chloe's(looking very cute in reindeer antlers on FB) Mom's photos. Tell your Dad he's lucky they came back when they did!
