Greetings From A Newly Adopted Little Jem...

Posted by Pia

Hey there Waggers, I have a special new friend I've invited to visit us today. I'd like you to meet Ms. Ruby Wallace...

Hello Friends,
This is Ruby here (pronounced Rooo-Bee)... As the newest, and I think the youngest, regular Daily Wag reader I've been invited by Dr. Pia- another super nice human with whom i've become acquainted- to post today's blog!

Ruby,

1 Ruby, "I started training today with Dad..."

2 "He is a tough nut to crack...but he's learning!"

This is me on my way home from Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue after being adopted, November 21, 2012. Seems like a lifetime ago!

Ruby,

4 Ruby, "When we first got home... I can hardly say the word 'home' without giggling and pinching myself!....There was lots to smell and my humans kept flashing this light at me...I now know it was something called a camera..."

Ruby,

5 Ruby, "I was soo sooo tired from all the excitement. My new family let me sleep on this soft thing called a gowch or cowch or something like that...Wow was it cozy!"

Ruby,

6 Ruby, "Dr. Pia has a fur kid she calls Luna and we think we might be related..."

7 "I got to play with this funny stuff called snow... it's fluffy and white...unless I make it yellow..."

8 "...and it falls from the sky straight onto my tongue! I'm hoping that Santa guy brings me more."

9 "My mom says i'm a snow queen! She likes to watch me butt vroooooooom in the snow. I giggle and say things like, 'You can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread girl...weeeee.'"

Ruby,

10 Ruby, "All's going great- I think I will have my human dad trained in a month or so. He's a fast learner and he's coming along nicely. I'm so glad he's my dad!"

I'm told by some of the regulars who meet and comment here at this Daily Wag, that i'm now an official member of a crew they call 'The Glue Squad.' My new friends Frannie and Sharley says they call it that because this group of cyber friends sticks together like glue... um... what's glue? ...and um ...what's a blog? and um... can I chew on either of them?"'

Anyhoo... as the holidays near, I want to thank all the furry and non-furry friends involved in this here Daily Wag. I was just adopted this past November from a rescue group and I'm thrilled to be in my forever home with these super nice humans in Colorado. Wow, it's been a whirlwind for sure- whatever that is- but I couldn't be happier! The only thing that makes me sad at times is thinking of all my friends in shelters across the country who are still hoping to be adopted... I worry about them a lot... but, I hope that as more humans meet me, they will start to understand how many amazing, loyal souls like me, are just waiting to become their new best friend.

I know i'm awfully new here, and truthfully it's kinda hard to type with paws...but, that said, I would like to express my deep thanks to the humans who have welcomed me in as part of the family. They are teaching me all sorts of new things and I love how happy they seem to be when I show them how much I love them with wags and licks and such...My new life here and the loving folks here at the Daily Wag and Glue Squad are pretty amazing. If I could be so bold, i'd like to invite the rest of you DW readers to also celebrate love and friendship and join us in our daily adventures.

My mom said that next week on Thursday is 'Santa Day' here at the Daily Wag... My canine buddy Maddox thought it up, and I like the idea too. If you wanna join the holiday fun, just send your photos to Dr. Pia and get your wish lists and letters ready for Santa- so Dr. Pia can share them here on the blog. I'm told this Santa fella reads the Wag too! So don't be shy...please join us. Then you can also meet my new buddies here at the Wag- there's lots of neat stuff to tell you about them and I'm hoping to see pictures of them too- makes me feel like I've actually met them in the fur!

Okay- thanks for listening and for welcoming me into my loving new home- sometimes I think it's all just a dream but so far it does seem that the treats are real and this loving home is here to stay! I know my love for them ain't goin' anywhere- loyalty is in my blood and they so clearly deserve it! I'm just happy to be able to count my blessings...and my kibbles... each day before retiring to a cozy night's sleep in the care of my new family!

Love and licks,
Ruby (pronounced Rooooo-Bee)

Oh by the way- here is where to send your Santa lists and a photo with a caption to Dr. Pia... Pia@drpiasalk.com...

Time to train my human...gotta run. Woof.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
And hello to you too Dr. Pia. It sure does look like you are having a “blast” in all that white stuff on the ground, Ruby. I like playing in the snow too. Only problem is, we don’t get much of it here in the south. But when we do, it comes by the truckload. It doesn’t last more than a day or two so I have to enjoy it while I can. Enough with the sports; now the a recap of the weather. It will only get into the 50’s today and down into the lower 30’s tonight. Now we’re talking. That will give me time for some sun on the back porch. It rained all day yesterday; looking better today.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Good morning Dr Pia & Roo-Bee!
We are so happy you've found such a great home. Mimi sent Dr Pia a picture of Papa & me, but I'm going to send a new one showing my toys that I've been ruff with. I really need to tell Santa what I need!
Hope everybody had a great day yesterday. I'll check in later.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

Your big brother is watching over you and happy that you've made Mom, Dad & Wes smile. We don't have any snow, but we may have a mixture of something next week. Guess I have to wait.

  • How sweet Dr Pia, introducing that sweet Gem Ruby! Love all the photos and story...Ruby I know for sure you will have your humans trained in no time...it didn't take long for Kitty to do that.
Today it's nice and sunny about 46 degrees so had my last minute Xmas shopping to do...I feel better now.
Kitty sends her purring love to Ruby, Miss Chow, Maddox, Rebel, Dudly DR, Kirby and all the rest of her fur-pals.
