Picking up Two New Fig Trees!
Posted by Francesca
Today on Martha's blog, she posted a lot of photos taken at an estate sale in Connecticut. She told Uncle Carlos to drive the van and pick something up. So, we all piled in and drove to the sale.
1 Well, here we are at an estate sale and I wonder what we're supposed to be picking up for Martha?
2 Wow! It's a potted fig tree. One can never have too many fig trees.
3 Say, you, in the plaid jacket! I know who you are!
4 Sharkey, G.K., it's Jim Klinko! - Martha's funny friend from Furniture on Consignment in Westport, Connecticut!
5 It's always fun visiting Jim's store because he tells the funniest jokes. Carlos certainly had a good laugh at this estate sale.
6 Like I said, one can never have enough fig trees. Here comes another! Figs have been grown since ancient times and they even grow wild in dry sunny areas. Their fruit is highly prized and is eaten fresh and dried.
7 Jim, it was very nice of you to think of Martha when you saw these fig trees. We'll be sure that they go into the greenhouse for the winter. They would never survive our harsh northern climate.
8 Jim, why don't you come and visit us at the farm next summer? Maybe you can even eat some figs!
