A Guinea Fowl Update

Posted by F&S

You may recall when we posted a blog last July about the new guinea fowl that were being raised in the corn crib.  Well, we noticed the other day that the corn crib was empty and we were wondering where the guinea fowl disappeared to.

Francesca! I bet the guinea fowl have been moved into the chicken coops. I'll race you down there so we can settle this mystery, once and for all.

Aha! I was right about the guinea fowl. They're right here in one of the chicken yards.

Sharkey, I suppose it's better for these guineas to be down here with the chickens and roosters. At least they have the company of other feathered friends.

Francesca, don't forget that there are also two Pomeranian geese, which are very protective of all the fowl in the coop, even though they are as loud as can be!

So, guineas, you have certainly gotten much bigger since the last time we met.

Do you think that Martha will ever let you wander around the farm in the daytime so that you can feast on all of the pesky bugs on the farm? Isn't that what you do so well?

Well, Frenchies, we would be very happy to exit this yard in the daytime and return to it at night. We love eating pesky bugs like Japanese beetles and all sorts of ticks.

However, there are many dangers outside and we've been told of wandering coyotes with big bellies. Someone on the farm even saw a Bobcat in the woods!

The chickens even told us that certain canines would love to pounce on us like we were some kind of dog toy.

Would you Frenchies know anything about that? All we have to say is that we're glad there's a fence between you and us! Your mouths look entirely too large!

  • ..I love guinea hens..we used to have a bunch..they roosted in the trees at night..and yes, they were late night snacks for every kind of critter..so we decided no more g. hens..it is late, I must get some beauty sleep..over and out, Cora-Belle

  • Good early morning ladies & fowl,
Been wondering how the Guinea's were doing. They sure are interesting looking birds. You two sure were going lickety split! Are the Guinea's just for pets or do you eat their eggs?
I went back and read yesterdays posts. Sounds like everyone is doing better and feeling better. I like to read that.
Mimi & Papa went late in the afternoon on Sunday to the Broomcorn Festival. All the excitement really happens on Saturday. We had a family birthday party on Saturday afternoon. Anyway, they had a great time at all the booths with crafts and food. Generally mousing around and saying "Hi" to folks.
    Have a great day all.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Good morning girls,
Wow!!! It looks like the Guinea Fowl got into some Miracle Grow. They got huge since we saw them last. I wonder how many beetles and ticks each one can eat in a day.
Zoe, is your dad up and about? Sorry about the bath. I don't mind them. Delia, did you talk to any of the dogs you saw about signing up for the DW?
Rebel, ask Mimi what the racoon tasted like. Do they still eat it? Lynn, I think you should take it easy today. Your migraine went away so enjoy one day of goofing off before you start in on your crafts again. We can call it Lynn's relax and chill out day. Geez, coyotes, bobcats, what next? You guys better be careful when you are out and about.
Cora-Belle, are you alright? If you fainted, you probably overdid it to, just like Lynn. so, you join her in a relax and chill out day today. Tell Lucinda to call her doctor and tell him or her that they have to change her meds as the others made her sick and she needs a new one so she can get better.
I saw a commercial last night for a new movie, it was called Frenkenweenies. I wonder if they used your chiweenies in the movie as extras. hehehehehehe
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I think Martha should turn those guinea fowls loose so that you could chase them a little. They could always fly into a tree to get away if they wanted. Speaking of chasing, I really did get into trouble yesterday. A little cat, Mommy called it a kitten, came into the yard and I ran after it. Mommy said that cats that small weren’t for chasing; just the big ones. How could I know that? All cats are the same to me; they’re for chasing, or so I thought. Learn something new everyday. Nap time already.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Ladies,
You two look so cute on your zooming in #1 to the Guinea Fowls. They have really grown. Martha must be feeding them lots of good stuff. They look a little like turkeys to me. Do you eat their eggs? I am glad they are on duty now to eat all the pests that hurt G.K. and Franny. No disease next year for sure. I saw a commercial yesterday for a phone and they took photos of their dog, Kevin doing flips. Then while looking at the photos they missed him on a scooter and doing dozens of tricks. It was funny, but what I thought of was I could see all the Glue Squad in this commercial doing their regular activities and it would be a great commercial. We need to find you all an agent. Delia, maybe you met some French Producers on your trip??? Hope everyone has a great day and Cora Belle don't have any more fainting spells. It's those darn Chiweenies. You and I need to take a day off our regular duties and just relax. That will be the day, huh?
    Hugs & smiles,
    Lynn

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, Thanks so much for telling us and showing us those Guinea Fowls that are now in one of the chicken coops! They sure do look healthy and I certainly hope they will be safe if they travel around the farm during the days to get the beetles and ticks to protect you! Cora-Belle, hope you don't have any more faints! James and Lucinda do all they can to protect you! Rebel, I think I will stick to city life, too! Happy Birthday to your family! Maddox and Cora-Belle, you are two Special Glue Squaders-a thinker and a toughy and I love you both! Kirby, I'm definitely not a picky eater-I'd eat most stuff! Hope that little kitty was OK! Zoe, yup, the cooler weather is best especially to take walks! Gail, love your comments! Lynn, glad migraine is gone and the 'cc' does help! Will check back later to hear from the rest of you buddies! Have a great day one and all! Love Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Bonjour! Guten Tag, Grüß Gott, Hello my friends! Kitty here, mommie delia keeps on saying this, boy am I tired of it, she thinks she's still on the trip, hey come down to earth reality!!!! ;-)
Sorry about that Kitty, you'll get over it! :-)

Love the new guinea fowl, they would be great to paint, and love the photo of Francesca and Sharkey running, what a hoot!

yesterday the doctor said I had edema in my feet and legs and that my blood pressure was up with the weight I gained (water) duh!!! I was on vacation eating and drinking everything in sight - isn't that a vacation? now back to my raw oats and fruits...yummy ;-)

Lynn, nope no producer, but met several real nice people on the trip who we will keep in contact with.

Maddox sadly to say the French dogs of all breeds are like their masters, not friendly...we had to doge soooo many piles of dog poop, it was like a mine field and that was everywhere, what a shame. Too bad I was not in the cigarette butt and garbage business, I would have done well there...beautiful city, beautiful people, but sadly not clean, especially for a famous city as this...oh and tagging was everywhere, everywhere, sis I say everywhere?? :-(

My daughter rented a small flat that was seen on HGTV it was clean and gorgeous, located in a nice district, near everything...I love Shabby Chic so I fit in real nice.

The trip was wonderful and hope to do another soon...

    au revoir,

delia & Kitty >^. .^< (there she goes again with the French, it's making my whiskers stick up!)

  • Ladies I love the innocence you two had when you went to see the G. Hens. Ha! The jig is up, the chickens (and probably the donks) gave away your secrets. I'm glad that everyone is doing better.

Lynn that your migraine has finally gone. Cora-belle, you and Lucinda need to take a "CC" day together so there are no more fainting spells. Delia I am sorry for your loss. Kirby Bear give the little kitty a chance to grow up a bit before the chase begins. Karen glad that you are doing better. Zoe you are the head Nurse of the family taking care of your Dad. Rebel, Abby Missy Chow, Hi again Sparkle. Everyone, enjoy the day and be thankful for the good that shines on today.

  • Holy Cow those guinea fowl sure sprout up quick like, huh!

What's this I hear about bobcats and coyotes strolling around the farm looking for tasty morsels?

    Yipes!

Does Martha have some type of animal security camera in place to keep an eye out for pesky intruders?

Hey, send the bobcats over to eat the yucky corn worms! omg...lol! :)

  • Hi Girls, GK & Glue Squad - It seems forever since I've had computer time. One would think that maybe I had left town, NOT. Feels like I have alot of catching up to do. Things have been somewhat crazy. Sounds like everyone has been very busy. Maddox, glad you are doing okay after watching over things for Karen. Happy to hear she is feeling much better;welcome back Karen. Zoe, hope Dad is doing much better after his surgery. Kirby Bear, how's the tail? I get into trouble too when I see a cat walk near the house, Mom or Dad usually closes the front door on me :( Cora-Belle, what's this about fainting? Take it easy and get some rest. Abby, Dudley, Rebel-hope you are all okay. Delia, bet your trip was wonderful and you had a warm welcome home from Kitty. Sorry to hear of your family loss.

Hi Lynn - hope you are feeling better. Migraines, yuck!

Well, after being at the "spa" today, I'm alittle tired tonight, so will go and get comfy.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • Hmmmm, anyone know what happened to my post comment???? :-(

  • Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say that we had a birthday celebration here today. Abram, who is a grandson of Paw Paw turned 9 today. He was named Abram, by Scott, Karen's son who is in the military and he used to drive the Abram tanks. Abram, the chow's official AKC name is Liontamer Pazzazz's 9/11 Tribute in honor of all those people who lost their lives when the twin towers were hit. Scott got deployed shortly after He named Abram. He went to Iraq. He just left yesterday for his third deployment. Abram was recently called to active show duty after being out of a show ring for 8 years. He is now a veteran and he will be shown several times this coming year as a veteran till Scott comes back to the states. Abram said if Scott can do it so can he. It was a very special day for us today and I just wanted to share that with my good friends
    Love,
    Maddox
Happy Birthday Abram and come home safe Scott
