When the Dogs are Away, the Cat Will Play!

Posted by F&S

Surprise!  It's not F & S, but Vivaldi!  Martha is in Maine and took Francesca, Sharkey, and G.K. with her, so I decided to have a little fun and post today's blog.  Won't they be surprised when they get around to reading this!  Of course, that is if they can pull themselves away from all the fun they must be having.

It certainly is quiet around the farm when all three dogs are in Maine with Martha. I don't have to listen to the Frenchies incessant chattering and I can sleep wherever I want without being disturbed.

Although, I have to admit that I am feeling just a bit lonely. Perhaps I'll take a stroll around the terrace garden.

Oh, I see that Martha's Formosa lilies are blooming. I bet the Frenchies will be sore when they see this blog posting and how they're missing out on these amazing blooms.

If Sharkey were here, I bet she'd be prattling on about how the Latin name is Lillium formosum and how they originated in Taiwan.

I can practically hear Francesca chiming in with how they can reach upwards of 7-feet tall and typically have 8 to 10 flowers per stem!

They might even go as far as to mention that lilies are toxic to pets, especially cats. Even the pollen is toxic and if a cat has any on his or her fur, he or she should be given a bath immediately.

Well, I don't much care for baths so I'm outta here! Time for another nap!

  • Good morning Vivaldi,
I think you did a terrific job of informing us about the Formosa flowers. When I read that they are toxic to dogs and cats, even the pollen, I thought the next picture would be of you getting a bath. Hehehehehe. Wait a minute, I don't know why I am laughing, cats don't like baths at all. Sorry Vivaldi.
Ok, I forgot to read yesterday's comments so I am going to do that now and check back later
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • HEY! VIVALDI! How did you get into F&S's blog? Did you spend a lot of time hacking into their computer? Why don't you go spend your time hacking your icky cat hairballs? Off, I tell you! I'll tell Martha!

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, WOW! Vivaldi, you look so handsome in these photos and how nice of you to post these great photos to share with us! I love all of your comments and the information about those beautiful lilies is fascinating! You are one brilliant fellow and I sure would love to play with you! Nice to hear from you also Maddox and I will have to check back later to read all the rest of our buddies comments! Sure hope all of you have a great day! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
You know that the dogs are away when a cat makes a post on the DW. That is some good information about those flowers. Did you get a bath after being around them? I don’t want you to get sick, even though you are a c-ca-cat. Almost couldn’t get the word out. Ok, we are at that point where we can see the days getting shorter. Won’t be long until it’s my kind of weather. I can hardly wait. My new inner layer of fur hasn’t started coming in as of yet; it’ll be a while before it gets cold here. Yawn, excuse me; time for a nap.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Vivaldi!
How nice to hear from you. Be careful out there amongst the lilies and all their pollen. I had my bath yesterday, I just zen-out. I bet the house has been nice and quiet with the canines away. Did you check in on the canaries?
Enjoy being the boss of the house.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hello Vivaldi & Glue Squadders,
Always getting educated, whether from the dogs or cats. I learned again, something new on the lilies. Martha's flowers are beautiful as always. Vivaldi, although I know you are enjoying your quiet time, I can tell you miss the pups. I thought I would really enjoy my time to myself when Will and Weston are in Alaska, but guess what--I am missing them also!! They are due back tomorrow and from what I hear, they will be bringing home multitudes of fish---halibut, salmon, black bass and cod. And Maddox, thanks for asking on the girls' day Friday. The luncheon went terrific, and they stayed for 5 hours, until dinner time. It was a great Christmas In July. Now I must be focused on my November Craft Show so after today, it is all work and no play. But play today I may!!! Hehehehe huh Maddox??? It was cooler yesterday, and I hope the days ahead will be fall. It was so nice to hear from Baby Favor--I didn't realize you were a show dog like our G.K. and Maddox. What is wrong with me. I hope to see photos of you someday--do you have a website? I realize it might be in French and I would have to get a translator. Dudley, I think you and I are having similar weather. Enjoy the day all--I will check back later to see all my buddies adventures.
    Hugs & smiles,
    Lynn

  • Ahhh, Vivaldi moi'- moi'! yes indeed seek, play, enjoy the down time! ;-) Cats need this right Vivaldi? I'm lucky I don't have to share my house or area with anyone, not even critters, I keep it cleaned out for just moi' :-)

I will have to remember not to rub against any type of Lilies, didn't know it was poison to cats...Yikes!

Mommie delia won't have access to her computer for a while...no worry!

    Kitty =^. .^= & delia

  • Well who is King of the Loafers today, none other than Vivaldi!!

I bet it felt so relaxing sunning on the patio without the pooches horning in. :)

Summer is winding down, so you better take advantage of the nice outside weather.

Soon you'll be donning your Winter boots and having a traipse through the snow! :)

  • ..I like kitties..thanks for the flower info..you are one pretty kitty Vivaldi!..I found a baby feral kittie laying in the grass..newborn..found the hiding spot of the moms and put it in there..must go check on them..love, Cora-Belle

  • Hi Girls, GK, & Glue Squad, Vivaldi, you look so relaxed while the girls the girls are away. Hope you are also keeping an eye on the new kitties as well. Don't get too close to the lilies, be sure to spread to the kittens too, you know they will check things out on the farm when they get a little older.

One day late for me, but the weekend was pleasant for me. Maddox, I didn't get into too much trouble either, kind of mellow, HOWEVER, I have gotten a couple of timeouts the past couple of days, guess it's still the pup in me. Zoe, sounds like you had fun swimming last week, Cora-Belle, you've been busy too, glad you are feeling frisky and keeping an eye on things. Kirby, the cooler weather will be here before we know it and it will feel good with our thick coats. Hi to all my other buddies, Abby, Rebel, Dudley, Kitty and of course, Delia and Lynn :) :) . I know I probably missed someone.

Back to checking the back yard for the furry grey fuzzy critters.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    Xoxo

  • Loved your pictures, Vivaldi! Would like to see all the other kitties too, especially the two newbies!! Take care, love from scorching Texas.

  • Hi Vivaldi, you are such a beauty! It is so obvious how much Marth loves you and your brothers and sisters! How do you like your new little kitties? It seems to me that maybe you miss your little puppies just a little ;)
