Exploring Skylands

Posted by F&S

Skylands is such a beautiful place to explore and we'd like to show you one of our favorite places way up on a hill. The ground is carpeted with moss and the path is covered with soft pine needles. We slipped out the door and went on a little adventure. Take a look.

We love coming up here and listening to all of the birds singing. It smells so good, too.

It's not too peaceful now with this woodpecker pecking. We can't figure out how woodpeckers can stand all that racket that they make pecking wood.

And look what else is up here. Martha tells us they are Cypripedium or Lady's slippers.

We heard Martha calling us and we took a short cut across the tennis courts.

The courts are really fun to run on when no one is playing.

  • Good morning ladies,
Thank you so much for showing us more of Skylands. It is gorgeous there and I love seeing the pictures from Maine. In your travels on the hill did you happen to see a big red furry dog that answers to the name of GK? hehehehehehe
You know, you would think that woodpeckers would get headaches from all that chopping they do on the trees. They have to be going back and forth with their neck the whole time. Maybe they work out at a Woodpecker Wilderness Gym to strengthen their neck muscles before they start pecking away at trees.
Well gang, another weekend is upon us. What does everyone have planned? I think Zoe's mom should get in a game of golf, it will help her to get relax before her husband has his surgery. I think Cora Belle should go on a maple bar run, Kirby should go somewhere cold where there are no fleas. Rebel should viait the ducks if there are any around, Lynn should take a break from her crafts, Delia and Kitty should just have a nice calm weekend Dudley should be bad for a change, it will do him good (hehehehehe), Abby should go to the doggie park to sunbath, Missy Chow should try to be good for the whole weekend, Gail should draw pictures of donks, anbd Pam from California, Sonya and all the rest of you should just have a great weekend. Me? Why I am going to think about things, of course. Oh yeah, and Sharkey and Francesca should go on a search of Acadia Park cause I think that is where GK is.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Morning Girls & Glue Squad Buddies, It looks so peaceful and relaxing up in Skylands, I'm sure you had a great time exploring then a picnic, that must have been fun too. From time to time we have a woodpecker in the woods too, Mom calls him Woody.

Mom said we are having a cookout on Sunday, that will be fun as I haven't met some of their friends and family yet. Mom told me I had to be a good girl or else, I heard the word "timeout",hope that doesn't happen. I really like to meet people.

Happy Birthday Zoe, hope you get lots of presents, Happy Birthday to Sophie too.

    Where is everybody?

    Will check back later,

    Till next time,

  • Hello Sharkey,Francesca, Maddox, Lynn, Dudley and all my friends-
What a great weekend post! I loved seeing Franny and Sharkey exploring that nice picnic area up in Skylands and it was wonderful seeing them cuddling with Mama Martha! I like the picture of the lady slipper plant- a good place to take a cool nap, like our fern beds.
Maddox, you had great ideas for all of us to spend our weekends. I had a blast at a beautiful dog park yesterday in a new town and mom might take me to our usual park after her race on Sunday. We are taking care of boarder dogs tonight and Sat. morning so i will be at work. Dudley, hope you have a good checkup at the vet's office and a nice soothing bath. Delia and kitty have a nice relaxing purrrfect weekend. Cora belle hope Lucinda feels much better soon. Love, Peace and a safe weekend- Abby and zen cat James Dean.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I was planning on a quiet weekend at home doing nothing at all. But if GK is in Acadia Park, I want to be on the search team too. Mommy and Daddy were planning a trip there but things turned sour; the economy. Don’t have to say more because you all understand. It took a big bite out of my travels. I’ll be making plans for my fall trip in November. It’ll be cool, maybe cold, in those mountains. Long walks on quiet trails; just me and Daddy. I can see it all now. It’ll be fun unless I find another bear. That’s another story for later. Have a good, and safe, weekend all.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • OMG, I was so busy thinking anout what everyone would be doing this weekend and I didn't mention birthday wishes. I started out with Zoe's mom golfing and I was going to end with Zoe. Guess my thinking wasn't too good this morning.
Well, little Birthday Girl, where are you? Did your party start already? Zoe, I know Basil was your boyfriend and I bet you anything that he is having a big party in your honor with all the other Glue Squad members that are there with him. I bet he gave out rolls of TP as party favors and he told everyone to throw them all over the clouds and to decorate the bridge with them too. And I am sure they are singing the birthday song for
Sophie too. You girls have the best day ever on your birthday. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
    Love you,
    Maddox
PS - Lynn, have a fantastic time at the state fair. I am sure the turtles will watch the house while you anhd Will are gone. hehehehehehe

  • I am such a big fan of Sharkey and Franesca.
Two paws up. Also I really like your nature areas on your properties.

  • That picnic table is adorable! :)

Maybe the woodpecker has cotton in his ears?

Did you happen to run into Rafael Nadal (hubba hubba) on the courts? :)

    Have a super weekend!

  • Francescea and Sharkey, you two are adorable! Thank you for showing us around Skylands. The beautiful mossy carpet growing under the trees is just wonderful..
And best of luck on your new show.

  • What a cool place! I love Moss covered ground, our yard is all moss...this summer has taken a toll on it and we might not have it next year.

Good to see mommie martha with your girls.
