Bath Time for Frenchies!

Posted by Sharkey

The other day, Franny took off after a pesky squirrel and went tearing through a paddock.  She must have run into a pile of manure because she came home stinking to high heaven.  Laura Acuna took one whiff and immediately filled a basin with warm water and plopped Francesca into it.

Laura, is it really bath time again? I care about my hygiene just as much as the next girl, but I want to run and play, not take a bath!

Okay, fine, but make sure you wash every wrinkle under my neck!

Oh Franny, stop complaining! Taking a bath isn't such a big deal. In fact, it's important to our health!

While dogs groom themselves regularly, there are certain times when a bath is needed. We do a pretty good job ourselves, but our tongues can only do so much!

If dirt and bacteria get past our fur and onto our skin, we can develop skin infections and even those dreaded hot spots!

Cleaning is also a sign of affection for us and it can be a bonding experience for you and your pup! I love you Laura!

And, Francesca, you know this whole ordeal could have been avoided if you would stop chasing squirrels through the manure in the paddocks!

Honestly, Franny, I think you need to learn to control your wild side!

I managed to control myself when I saw that squirrel and look at me! I don't need a bath!

Wait a minute, Laura, what's going on? I didn't go running through manure!

I guess I spoke too soon! Well, Franny, I guess we'll both be clean now!

  • HAHAHAHAHA! Wait a second...I think tomorrow is my bath day. BOO HOO! It's not so much the bath I dread but the blow dryer. I'm a Pekingese; it takes fur-EVER to get a blow dry and I do not like that dragon-like contraption blowing its breath on me at all. Oh well, the price of beauty, right, Girls?

    XOXO,

  • Good Morning F & S

Oh no the dreaded bath - I hate bath time. I'm going this week to the groomer :(

Franny running in horse poo?? Gross!! Why don't you wait for the squirrels to clear that area then hunt them down - at least you won't smell like a big old turd.

Weekend is over already and mom is headed back to work, my they go by fast. Dad and I have a busy day today working on the pool. He purchased a new Polaris 2 weeks ago and still has the old one laying out back. Mom is having a fit she wants him to get rid of all his mess and organize the pool house - we'll be busy all day.

I hope everyone enjoyed their weeked - now back to the grind :)

  • Hello Ladies,
What fun to see you getting baths. You are lucky to have that big tub and nice waiting area. You were probably scheduled whether the manure or not. Now, stay away from the manure and just keep your noses clean. Hahahaha I hope everyone had a great weekend. We even got a little rain on Saturday. Almost forgot what cool weather was all about. I will look forward to hearing of all your adventures. I fell asleep, but there was a new show on last night---Animal Practice---did anyone see it?
    Hugs & Smiles,
    Lynn

  • Good morning ladies,
Bath time has some good and bad points. The good is that you get clean, you smell nice, and whoever gives you the bath gets down to the skin with their hands, sort of like getting a massage. Bad part of getting a bath, you get wet. Chows don't like to get wet. Right Kirby?
Franny, maybe you better stop chasing squirrels and running through manure or they will send you to the boot camp that Chloe and we haven't heard from her in ages. I'm just saying...........hehehehehehehe
Lynn, how did your Christmas get together go? I hope everyone had a good time. Zoe, I guess you would be in heaven if your mom ran a day care. You would be worn out running from kid to kid for treats. Cora-Belle, that was nice of the chiweenies mom to make you the Princess Warrior Biscuits. I think Lynn should go nation wide with them.
Rebel, Karen saw a whole bunch of Canadian Geese at a car lot. She thought of you. She said you could have directed them to a field instead of the car lot.
Missy Chow, were you on good behavior over the weekend? How about you Kiitty? Dudley is always good. Dudley, did you ever get in trouble?
Well I guess it is deck time. I can't wait for everyone to check in and fill us in on how your weekend was.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Oh Franny, running through manure to get to a squirrel just isn't worth the consequences, is it? I wouldn't want to smell like Eau de Caca, ever! At least Martha wasn't having a dinner party when you returned from your donkey dump dive. Stay clean, girlfriend!

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
All I can say is, “Why didn’t you jump over that horse mess on the ground?” Oh right, your legs are so short you can’t jump over it; just ‘plow’ through it. As you all know, I don’t like bath time. I’ve been getting a bath nearly every week; hope these spots on me get hair back on them soon. That ‘cone’ sure gets in the way of everything. It even slows me down when I chase the squirrels. I just know that they are laughing at me; snicker, snicker, snicker. Yeah, I can hear them now.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Good morning ladies,
I, too am stinky. I found something in the yard yesterday and I was digging and rolling & having a great time. I think I smell great, Mimi & Papa, not so much. So, it's bath time for me today, too. Hey, it really isn't that bad. i kinda like the warm water and massage.
Hey Kirby, sure hope those itchy-spots go away real soon. Never mind those stupid squirrels. Let 'em laugh, you know who's the man...yeah...
We had a rain overnight and it is cooler, too. Well, it's morning nap time.
    Have a great day everybody.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Oh Frenchies, how nice Laura is bathing you guys! looking so squeaky clean I can just smell the freshness, although I personally don't mind the smell of horsey poo.

Kitty is always 'putzen' herself, always smelling clean.

Got to run...everyone have a great day, F & S stay as clean as possible!

    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, How great that Laura Acuna gave you such a nice bath to get rid of that horrible poop you ran through while chasing that squirrel in the paddock, Franny! I know it's hard to miss the poop when you are in such a hurry, but maybe you will be more careful next time! You looked so happy in that bathtub that I think you enjoyed it anyway! Sharkey, you looked pretty happy, too even though you got a bath with no poop on you! I need to have a bath fairly soon because I have to go to my vet for my yearly check-up! I always get scared when I go there, but they treat me pretty nice! We had a pretty warm weekend and I like being in the shade when it gets hot here! Loved reading the comments from Poco, Zoe, Lynn, Maddox, Malcolm, and Kirby! Will check back later to see those from the rest of you buddies! Hope all of you have a great day! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • ..horse manure..cool..my personal favorite was rolling in dead salmon along the river bank during spawning..don't get to do it now that I don't run free..Ivy, the wonder dog loved it too, James and Lucinda not so much..but then I don't like the Chanel she wears!..gotta go grocery shopping..over and out, Cora-Belle

  • ..oh, forgot, I did watch animal practice, loved the guinea pigs on the turtles..guinea pigs are cool little guys, I miss my buddy, Quigley, the g.pig..Cora-Belle

  • Ahhh Sharkey you need to quit when you're ahead. Franny was it really necessary to chase that squirrel through the poo? As long as you had a good time and can laugh about it now!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Fall is threatening here as it was cool, rainy and overcast all yesterday.

  • Aw, 'nuttin' is cuter than soapy critters!

Chasing squirrels through poop piles, oops I mean 'manure' piles doesn't sound worth the trouble! :)

The bath Laura is giving the both of you sure looks relaxing.

    Can I jump in! :)

  • Oh Raven Baby, it's a shame that that nice Laura lady had to wash you off after you had gotten yourself smelling all nice and earthy. Did you at least catch the squirrel??? Oh well, the good part about bath time is the massage part. I do so love a good rolling in the dirt, though, and if there's some cat scat, so much the better! We don't have horses in our yard, although I did used to try to get to FirstMama's miniature horse, just to see if he was intimidated by me. I don't remember if I ever rolled in his poop pile. Personally, I don't mind taking baths, which surprised my NewMom when she first started giving them to me. I think she forgot I'd been a showgirl and had to have baths before I went into the ring to strut my stuff; and it really IS a nice way to have bonding and snuggle time with your person!!!
