A Trip to the Beach

Posted by F&S

We sure love visiting Martha's home in East Hampton—especially the beach—but we always make sure to be safe and responsible, so's not to spoil our fun!

Carlos, have you met Alex Grossman? She is an intern for Corporate Communications at MSLO and has graciously allowed me to sit on her lap for the trip!

Okay girls, Uncle Carlos and I are in the car. Off to East Hampton!

Ah, there's nothing like watching the scenery go by. I can't wait to be by the water again.

Just be careful, Franny. You know that we, Frenchies, are not the best swimmers—in fact, we really can't swim at all! We just aren't built for it! We have short legs and our heads are our heaviest part!

That's right, girls. Some dogs, like golden retrievers, have large paws that help them swim. My breed is definitely fascinated by the water, but typically doesn't swim on account of our thick fur. But we can still enjoy the beach!

After nice stroll on the beach, it does feel nice to soak our paws, wouldn't you say so, Franny?

Defnitely, Sharkey! Any pet, after going to the beach, should be cleaned and dried really well. We always soak our paws to make sure nothing gets in between our toes and causes irritation!

And you, GK! If you ever get wet, we make sure to dry you off really well. We would want anything to get trapped under your thick fur and cause a skin infection!

  • Good Morning F & S

A day at the beach looks really fun - don't know if I would like the heat but I see G.K. was checking out the chicks ;)

You are so right about Frenchie's not swimming but I have to say I have mastered the doggie paddle. Mom will release me close to the steps and I can swim and get the hell out of that pool!!!

Yo Cora what's up not feeling well? I hope you are taking it easy.

Dad went to see the surgeon yesterday and he is going to have his operation on August 30th. His doctor is going on vacation and so he'll wait until he returns. I'll have time to practice up on my nursing skills and it works out for mom because all her employees will be finished with vacations so she can take some time off.

Rain here today so it looks like lots of naps for me :)

  • Good morning girls,
I have to tell you I just love that picture of Franny sitting by GK. Franny, you look so concerned about GK. it shows how much you love him. All I have to say is Ahhhhhhhh.
When Karen read the blog today she started laughing when you mentioned that chows are weighted down with all their fur cause that didn't stop Priscilla, a chow Karen had. She took her to Martha's place in Connecticut to be bred to Paw Paw and as she was walking Priscilla around the beautiful grounds, Priscilla jumped into Martha's in ground pool and wouldn't get out. Karen was so nervous. She had never met Martha till then and she thought maybe Martha would be upset that Priscilla was in her pool. But, Karen worried for nothing. Martha was not upset about it at all. On another visit to that house, Karen said that Martha had the swimming pool all roped off because a duck had her babies in the pool and Martha didn't want anyone disturbing them. Karen knew right then and there what a great animal lover Martha is.
Well, I am headed to the deck. I will check back later
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I would have to agree with Zoe, the beach would be too hot for me if I stayed there very long. As for swimming; too much like taking a bath. I’ll just go along with GK and check out the “chicks” too. Your head is the heaviest part of you? I guess that if you did go swimming you would then be doing the “full moon” stroke. I think I’ll go have a nap now.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi ladies,
I must appologize, Mimi & me had to laugh out loud at pic #7. Did you hear us? Two little Frenchies standing in a tub, how cute is that?
I think I used to swim when I was young and lived with Poppi in Florida. Mimi says he used to tell how I would get in the swimming pool. I haven't tried the lake yet, maybe 'cause I can't see the bottom. Sure am glad that there was no talk about sand fleas!
Hey, Zoe. Glad to hear from you. Keep us updated on your Dad's surgery.
Cora Belle, keep rested & cool, o.k.?
    Til tomorrow.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • A trip to the East Hampton home sounds like fun, even GK gets to come along...and a NEW intern! Alex you probably found out it's not the best thing to let a heavy short legged dog sit on your legs, all that weight directed in the dogs legs to sit...it hurts ;-)
Love the last photo of all three of you, so loving.

Cora Belle hope all is OK, I don't like our friends here not feeling well. Zoe our prayers are for a successful surgery for your dad. :-)

So to all of our friends here, have a glorious day!

    I have to run...

hugs to all with purrrs & meeuuws from Kitty =^. .^= & delia

  • Hello Ladies, G.K., & Glue Squad Buddies,
What precious photos today. From car travels with Alex to beach babes and hunks. I do love the soaking of paws in the tub--how cute you 2 are!!Maddox you always bring a smile to my face with your wonderful stories. A chow in a pool. That must have taken hours to dry. And Rebel, just stick to pools where you can be seen well.Zoe I am glad you are practicing on your "cc" and nursing skills. I know you and your Mom will do alot of baking I bet for Dad too.And Delia, I know what you can do--a Glue Squad portrait of all the gang and their gold medals at the Olympics. That would be a beautiful portrait, but I fear we cannot get the gang together for a portrait. Abby, how is the boarding going. I bet James Dean never goes over or it would create problems. Dudley, I think Mom should start looking for a mounty's hat for you. Every time I have a thought of you, I think of you in a mounty hat.Miss Chow and Chloe, we need to hear from you. Chloe, I fear you aren't just at boot camp, but shipped off to Military School. Have a great day all, and Miss Cora Belle, hope lots of Maple Bars and Warrior Prince Biscuits come you way--take it easy!!!
    Hugs & smiles,
    Lynn

  • Hi F,S,&GK+ Glue Squad, All three of you delightful friends sure do have fun going places with Uncle Carlos and this time with lovely Alex-how great!!! I LOVE these photos and it was so much fun to see how you girls got your feet cleaned and did GK do the same thing?! I especially love photo #9 with you all caring about each other!!! Maddox, how fun to hear about Priscilla and we agree that Martha is a wonderful animal lover! Zoe, sure hope your Dad is doing OK and sending prayers for his surgery! Rebel, I agree with you laughing at photo #7-so cute! Kirby, nice that you are getting some great rest! Delia and Kitty, hope all is well and stay cool! Cora-Belle, hope you are feeling well and hope you get lots of rest! Can't wait to hear from you on Friday! Sure hope all the rest of you buddies are doing well and will check back later! Hope all of you have a great, safe day again! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • I want to join the fun!

Uncle C certainly does fun getaways.

By far the best picture is F&S soaking their paws in the clear container! :)

    Have a super Wednesday...

  • I'm glad you mentioned that Frenchies have to be careful about the water, we hear sad stories sometimes and do not like them at all! I wish we could go to the beach near us, but it's still too hot for us to spend much time outside. I like to hunt for crawfish, which Mom says is something her Chloe used to do. I've never caught one, though. There is a rumor, though, that we might get to go and visit FirstMama up in Pinewood soon, and then we can splash around in the shallows of Balm Lake, like we used to do when you were a baby.

  • Beach days are the best days. Good to know that your Dad's surgery has been set Zoe.

  • Oh Kirby - yes a Frenchie has a heavy head because our brains are SO big - yes we are superior to all other animals - right F & S :)
