G.K. Talks to Rinze
Posted by Ghenghis Khan
On Wednesday’s Daily Wag, the Frenchies explained about some of the ways that we dogs manage to stay cool during hot weather. I, G.K., decided to leave the coolness of the kitchen’s marble floor and venture outdoors to see what I could see.
1 When it's so hot outside, the marble floor in the kitchen keeps me nice and cool, but I'm getting a bit restless. I think I'll go outside for a little adventure.
2 Ah-ha!!! Someone left the keys in the Kawasaki! I'll just take it for a quick spin around the farm!
3 Oh look, there's Betsy riding Rinze! I wonder what they're up to today? I'll just drive and catch up.
4 Hi there, Betsy! How are you doing, buddy Rinze? Can you believe how hot it's been lately?
5 Hey there, G.K.! Yes, it has been quite hot, but don't worry, the other horses and I have our ways of keeping cool.
6 What a coincidence! The Frenchies and I were just discussing how dogs stay cool in the summer heat. Why don't you share some tips about how horses manage?
7 Well, we spend the cool mornings outdoors, grazing on the lush and tasty paddocks. For comfort sake, Betsy makes sure we wear our fly masks to keep those annoying critters out of our eyes and ears. By mid-day, we're taken back to the stable.
8 While we are outside, we like to roll around in the mud as a way of cooling off. The mud also protects our skin from flies and the harmful rays of the sun.
9 So you see, we horses get pretty dirty being outside, so we have a regular shower schedule and daily grooming, which has a cooling effect.
10 Thanks for sharing all that information with me, Rinze! However, I don't know about rolling in mud. I don't think Martha would appreciate if I did that. I'll just go back to my cool marble floor.
