Our Official Health Update

Posted by Ghenghis Khan

Thank you everyone for your concern about Francesca and Sharkey.  It’s been rough around here lately.  Even I, Ghenghis Khan, was caught limping around and when my blood was tested at the vet, it was discovered that I, too, have Lyme disease!  Bloody ticks!  So now we’re all taking medicine for one thing or another.

I've been reading all of the thoughtful comments left on the Daily Wag and so many are wondering how Francesca and Sharkey are doing so, I decided it was time for another Frenchie Health Update. I'll let the girls fill you in.

My leg with the dew claw removal is doing much better. I've been without the cone for a while now and have just a simple bandage. On Friday, I'll return to the vet for one last change of bandage and in a week, I should be all healed!

I'm so glad you're feeling better, Sharkey! I, on the other paw, still have my buttoned up eyelid and cone and will have both for another 3 weeks!

Yawn....I'm so tired of wearing this infernal thing!

I've learned how to drink water, eat, and sleep with the cone on, but I run into trouble when it comes to scratching myself. I want to scratch, but the darn thing just gets in the way!

Oh Franny, I don't think that's the way to do it! I know wearing the cone makes it hard but let me show you a better trick for scratching yourself.

  • Oh no GK, not you too. Geez, the whole Glue Squad seems to be falling apart. If this keeps up, we better get a group health plan.
I am glad the girls are on the mend. Poor Cora-Belle, I hope you are not scratched up too much.
Well gang, I did not post yesterday. It was a very sad weekend for us. We lost one of my cousins. She was Paw Paw's granddaughter. Her name was Sahara. She was one of the survivors of the fire. I don't even know who won the Derby. I did not feel like watching tv. Karen is heartbroken but she is so thankful that she had three more years with Sahara after the fire. I will check back in the morning to see how everyone is doing. GK, you and the girls better stay away from those ticks. Lyme disease is a serious thing.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.,
I am so glad to get an upset on the girls, but poor little brother now with that horrible Lyme Disease also. What we need is the Glue Squad Avengers Team to come in and rid the farm of ticks. Mama Martha must be a wreck worrying about the three of you, but we know everyone is looking after you. Do any of you know how to keep from getting this horrible disease? It is moving west and becoming more seen out here, but the east and south seem to have it bad. I need to be educated I think. I love you all and am praying and holding positive thoughts for you all to be up and playing again soon. Thank you so much for the update. Hugs to you all.
    Lynn
P.S. I missed you Zoe, Maddox and Kirby yesterday.

  • I'm so sorry you three cuties are having such a tough time. ... Hope you are all better real soon.... I love to start my day off by reading about your adventures!! Take care, and Sharkey and Frannie.....have fun rolling!!

  • Silly me, I wrote upset instead of update......I guess I was tired. Maddox, my heart breaks for you and your family. Hang in there buddy. I think this group health plan for all of you is a great idea.
    Hugs,
    Lynn

  • Oh my goodness, all this stuff happening!!! :-( I keep on thinking surely mommie Martha has the tick and flea stuff on the dogs! Ticks will be bad this year because of the mild winter and spring. I put this stuff on Kitty's neck and she got three ticks with in two weeks...since I have tick phobia I had to get over that real quick. Kitty depends on me to take off those UGLY, UGLY little creatures...they are sooo creepy...ok ok I'm ok! I take a tissue and just snap them off close to the skin (oh barfff)and flush them down the toilet, jeez, I hope they can't swim :-(
Cora-Belle, Kitty said to keep your nose out of feral cats...they can be aggressive. Hope your nose of OK.

Hopefully today will be a better day for all of us. ;-)
GK I do hope you will be alright, as well as F & S...

delia & Kitty =^ * ^= get that tick off my face!!!

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
What bad luck you three are having. First off it was Franny, then Sharkey and now GK. Well things should be getting better this week for everyone. I haven’t had the “cone” on for almost a week now. I don’t spend as much time outside which helps with the flee problem. Still having a problem with the blogg; keep getting an error message. Must be in the pictures somewhere. I didn’t open any of them and went to the bloggs. Seems to be working out. It’s nap time again.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Thanks, G.K.!
I've been waiting for an update on the ladies. I like the picture with all three of you on the porch. Frannie is all in black & I see her little white button. Oh, those ticks. We aren't bothered by them, living in town and all. I love to roll on my back! Sometimes I snort 'cause I get so happy! Hey! where are the donks? it's been a long time since we've seen Rufus & Clive.
Maddox, Mimi & I are so sorry to learn about Sahara. We will be sending our most comforting thoughts to Karen today.
I'll check in later to see what everybody is up to.
    Have a good day.
    Your pal,
    Rebel

Kirby, glad you finally got through that 'error'! Chloe, proud of you for being a good girl! Lynn, thanks for the info about samonella and don't worry, we all make errors! Lola, I do help my Mom a lot! Sonya, I'm OK now and Mom watches me even more carefully! Cora-Belle, hope your scratches are healing up! Are you enjoying the nice warmer weather we are getting?! Rebel, I've been thinking about Rufus, Clive, and Billy, also! Maddox, sure missed you yesterday and my prayers are with you and Karen about Paw Paw's granddaughter, Sahara-she must have been beautiful! Sure hope everyone is doing well today and having a great day! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hello Mr.G.K., Francesca, Sharkey, Lynn, Maddox and all the glue squad,
We are so sorry to hear about Sahara passing away Maddox. Hugs and our thoughts are with you and your family today.
Sharkey and Frannie rolling around are just too funny!!! Like my buddy Rebel I do that too all the time to itch my back. It works pretty well. Mom put advantix on me to keep the ticks away and some dogs I know are actually wearing scalibor collars in addition to advantix as double protection here in New York.
Well we are sad to hear G.K. has lyme disease but I had it a year ago and after medication felt like a young pup again. Cora Belle hope your nose feels better. Kirby hope you are getting lots of nap time. Little Lola do you watch the Cubs or White Sox in Chicago? Mom is getting ready to go running so I am napping with my Grandpa watching Ax Men. I only watch it when the swamp dog is there. Glad I am NOT a swamp dog. Stay safe Glue Squad Buddies- Abby

  • Oh no GK, not you too :( What's going on here??? I hope you are all feeling better soon. Mom found a tick on me after my walk the other night, but she found it before it actually bit me. It was crawling on my paw. I hate those darn ticks!!!

Well today I thought I was bringing mom a surprise, but she didn't like it too much. I caught a mole out in the yard. All I wanted to do was play with it but I must have hit it too hard with my paw, cause one minute it was running..... the next it was laying on its back with its legs up in the air :( I brought it on the deck to show mom but she just yelled at me. Oh well.......

Hope everyone has a great day... nap time :)

    Chloe xx

  • Glue Squadders Gather! Our mission is to find our own Tesseract to provide us with unlimited power to cleanse the farm of the evil tick menace that is threatening the farm realm.

Poor G.K. now you have Lyme too. I hope that you, Franny, and Sharkey will start to feel better ASAP! We all know how much MommyM loves you all so these new developments must be quite upsetting to her. Maddox I am so sorry to hear about sweet Sahara passing on. My heartfelt prayers go out to you and Karen.

Kirby Bear, I'm glad that cone is gone. Maybe you can teach your Mom and Dad the art of chilling out. Cora-Belle, watch out for those kitties out there boppin' you on the nose like that. Abby, glad you recovered from your bout with Lyme. Lynn, thank you for spreading the word about the food recall. Dudley,Zoe, Rebel,Lola,Chloe, everyone out there stay well please!

  • ..hopefully you frenchies and G.K. will all be back to yourselves very soon..Karen, so sorry about Sahara, rest easy knowing she is part of the heaven squad with Quigley, the guniea pig and Ivy, the wonder dog, and kit-bang and the warrior prince...love, Cora-Belle

  • Hey, what a great tip Sharkey for getting that troublesome itch! I'll try it!

Great to hear the both of you are on the road to recovery, however what's this I read about GK having lemon-lime disease! :) Darn ticks are right GK.

Follow doctors orders and soon everyone will be feeling well and chasing squirrels! :)

    Love you lots....
    gail

  • Hello everyone,
I just wanted to say Thank You to everyone for your kind words about Sahara. You are all a great bunch.
GK, I was sad to hear that you too have Lyme Disease.
I hope you, Franny and Sharkey are all better real soon. Thank you for the update.
    Love,
    Karen

  • Hey Glue Squad,
Did anyone see Martha last night on Two Broke Girls? I think she did real good. She should go on more shows or better yet, on the big screen. She should produce a movie. And she could have lots of animals in it, namely the Glue Squad animals as we are all so talented to begin with.
Don't forget that this Friday is out Tribute to Mom's Day so start thinking about what you want to say about them. And it doesn't only have to be your mom. It can be your Gran or any woman who is very special in your life.
    Love to all,
    Maddox
PS - Thank you for making Karen feel better.

  • ..back again..another nice day here in the Pacific N.w..James is off to the the VA hospital(Viet Nam Marine vet) for some tests..took a cooler with him, so that means he will stop at our favorite meat shop in Portland, oregon and load up with goodies..hope he gets the good beef jerky!!Another unwanted pre b.day gift..a stupid bottle of dog toe-nail polish..yeah, right Lucinda, you think I want all the critters to laugh at me...humans! I refuse to sit still for it!!Yes, a group health sounds good for all of us, though, my snout looks fine today...everybody have a good day..over and out, Cora-Belle

  • G.K., I'm sorry you're under the weather, but so glad you and the girls are getting the proper care for your ailments. I hope all three of you will be back to normal soon. I'm having seasonal allergy issues--pecan blooms chief amongst my culprits--so my time outdoors is limited to taking care of bathroom issues, at least until we get some more much needed rain in Alabama.

    Feel better soon, Friends!

    XOXO,
    Poco

  • Oh, I am sorry for the sad things going on right now. We have a sad, too, at our house. Our Auntie Ellen had to go to the hospital because her heart hurt. They were very afraid for her for a while, but now things are looking up. my sisters and I are staying with Uncle Dave so that Dad doesn't have to worry about us while he is helping Auntie. Mom is still gone-- she is in Houston now at the Boston Terrier show. They are cute dogs, but Mom says they just make her miss us more. Well, everyone hang in there-- better days are on their way!
